I found your channel while stuck in antepartum for two weeks before my LO was born and honestly I was so terrified but nothing comforted me more than watching your journey. I think you had already been posting videos about Quinn for a year at that point so seeing her do so well in a similar situation gave me a lot of peace that I really needed. I’m on month 10 of exclusively pumping AND fortifying with formula (for extra calories) - largely due to seeing you do it for so long. You’ve got this. You did the hardest thing already. ❤️

Sweetest comment! I’m so glad you’ve been able to pump for so long and this makes me so glad I’ve shared so much of our journey! Hope you and your baby are doing well!❤️

You’re doing an awesome job and it’s evident through your girls smiles. Breastfeeding is SO HARD. It took us a full two months to get comfortable with it, no matter what you choose- it will be perfect for you guys. So sorry you’re struggling. Keep pressing in!

Quinn is talking so much now!! It’s so incredible to see how much she’s grown (i’ve been watching since Quinn was in the Nicu! You guys are our favorite!! ❤️) And Bria is just a perfect Angel! 💗
Not going to lie, I was low key stalking your channel every day for a new video 😆, but I already know how it goes when you have a toddler and a newborn (my 3 keep me on my toes!) and you had already said expect a slower upload schedule, so I was so excited to see a new video today! Praying breast-feeding gets easier for you and baby Bria- I remember how tough it was with my first and I never expected it to be as hard as it was. We ended up seeing a lactation consultant almost every day for the first month of her life and that changed everything 🙌🏽. You’re doing such an incredible job Cara! So happy for your family! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

First time mom & I am having a similar experience to you with the sharp pain in my breast between feedings. I had no idea it could be a vasospasm; I was thinking it was clogged ducts. This makes so much more sense due to the cold weather where I live. Thank you for sharing your experience! Breastfeeding is so hard. Moms definitely deserve so much more credit.

Hi Cara. You are Wonder Woman! I can’t get over how you interact with both girls and still have time to make valentines and cook. Quinn and Bria are both so adorable. When my son was born 7 weeks early he didn’t know how to suck so he had to be taught in the NICU. When he came home I tried to breastfeed and it did not go well. He would cry and have nothing to do with it. I had been pumping so I had a lot in the freezer. I had a medical pump for a month

Yes, I hear you. For me nursing was harder than I thought it would be, as well. It was just one more thing that I had barely heard anyone talk about, so when I was struggling, at first I really felt guilty and like I had failed. Thanks so much for being someone who does share some of the "tough stuff" on your motherhood journey. It's appreciated!

  • @nanaronhano337
    @nanaronhano337 Před 2 lety

Isn’t it crazy how different nursing is to pumping? I EP’d with number 1 like you and I found breastfeeding directly way more enjoyable but stressful in other ways! It’s such a blessing to experience both. My VBAC attempt failed but the recovery was tons easier than the first! I had preeclampsia like you and I think it’s much more stressful on the body. Bria’s hair is gorgeous.

I am so sorry! I cannot believe how much more Quinn is talking and interacting. Praying for you all during these times. There is so much joy but it’s not easy and many people don’t struggle with that much pain during breastfeeding. I hope you’re giving yourself lots of grace. Oh Cara my heart hurt for you when you said you were dealing with vasospasms. So much love to you. I had them too and found them incredibly painful and disheartening - especially when it happened while nursing so it restricted the milk flow. I didn’t get mastitis, but I was very prone to clogged ducts so a NICU nurse told me about sunflower lecithin that I could take every day to prevent that. It worked for me. It is so hard to keep going when you feel like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I hope you are supported to do whatever you need to for you and Bria. Thanks for keeping it real. Keep the BF going girly. It will make you so proud of what you have accomplished. For me, past the first month did not apply to me. Everything you described is what I went through. I also had the shooting pains all the time and thought I was alone in that. I also had D-MER for a while. My boy didn't give me great latches till around 3 months and only when I held my breast a certain way. I had mastitis three times. Even when I thought we were on a good streak of latching, I got it . Your breastfeeding journey sounds soooo much like how mine went the first three month. On month 4 and on, it was amazing! Praying for your strength to overcome the obstacles. You and baby will eventually get a hang of it! We also did no lip tie surgery even though I had lactation consultants tell me it was needed. Just do what feels right for you and baby and stick with it ❤️

Hi Cara! I just wanted to drop a comment and say you are doing great. We are so similar in so many ways it’s crazy. I’ve mentioned it before but my first daughter Emelia born may 2020, she was born at 34 weeks due to pre-e and I had a c section. I exclusively pumped for her for 10 months so I know how hard it is! My second was born in October last year and I was able to have a vbac with her and our breastfeeding journey started off so hard but I wanted to assure you it DOES get easier! We are 4.5 months in now and it’s just now getting better. I almost gave up so many times. She has always had a shallow latch, sleepy eater, refusing to eat sometimes. We had a lip tie clipped and that didn’t really help either. Now her latch has finally started to get better and it’s just overall gotten easier as she’s gotten bigger. I hope you have the same luck and things get better and easier soon. You’re a rockstar. Quinn and Bria are so adorable and Quinn is so smart! We love those pop books too 🥰

So sorry to hear about the struggle with feedings, I hope it works itself out soon. As a preschool teacher assistant I absolutely love to see Quinn doing her Valentines cards, what a great experience for her and memories the recipients will treasure! So I had to bribe my 14 yr old son with Dairy Queen to get him to watch Encanto with me, we both loved it and we sing the Bruno song constantly. Lol. Baby Briah is adorable, I can’t decide who she looks more like, I see both of you right now. Ace eating during the life update was hilarious! Hang in there, you are doing an amazing job!

I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time with breastfeeding, it's really really hard when it's not going well. I had exactly the same with my babies - diagnosed with vasospasm with my 2nd, and it was diagnosed as a yeast infections with my 1st but was definitely the same. It did eventually improve for me - what helped in our situation was working on Soren's latch (I do something called the 'Flipple'), then latch him, then feed him whilst reclining back (I think they call it 'biological nursing'), so it wouldn't compress my nipples and affect the circulation. Even now at 18 months if I don't latch him like that I get the shooting pains! I hope you find something that works for you really really soon. Bria is gorgeous and you're doing so well Cara, well done x

There’s so much truth in “the days are long but the years are short.” I felt like there were so many days of just surviving when my kids were little. But what I wouldn’t give to go back just for one day. I know the breast feeding is so so all consuming. Especially when you can’t breast the first one. I had 33 week preemie twins first and was so excited to breast feed my next one and it’s not what I was expecting either. I definitely didn’t have issues like you are, but it wasn’t a walk in the park. I’m so happy you shared this because I would love to pray for you.

    Hi Cara,
Thanks so much for sharing your story! I had never heard of the vasospasm problem before but after looking it up I’m sure this is the issue my daughter had with her 1st baby. She’s 34 weeks pregnant with her second now and I was wondering if you could let me know what you did to resolve the issue or if you have even been able to resolve it. I sent you a more detailed message on IG but wanted to make sure you got it. Lol. My daughter is already stressing about breastfeeding this one. Like you she exclusively pumped for 10 or 11 months with her first and really wants to avoid that this time if at all possible. I’ve gotten so much great information from you because your story is so similar to my daughter’s and your kids are around the same age. Thanks so much again! She was an angel that progressively got jealous and that peaked when her sibling was 2 months. My husband and I couldn't believe that our sweet girl turned into such a monster. Lol However, we just kept praising our firstborn and prioritizing time with her and slowly she went back to her normal self. My daughter breastfed for 17 months. I remember in the beginning she was sooo slow and mastering feedings took time. I had many tears. The nighttime feedings were so exhausting because she took her time. Hang in there mama! I know the beginning to breastfeeding is tough. I’m having baby #2 in July, I am curious how the next one will be.

Breastfeeding is so hard. I’ve always hated the phrase “once breastfeeding is established,…” I’ve been exclusively breastfeeding for a year and during the first few months, I felt as though it would never be established. There are so many ups and downs in everyone’s journey and although everyone has a different experience, I think the general trend is that it gets easier with time. You’ve got this!

My little guy is now 2 and a half months and we just gave up on breast feeding and I’m now exclusively pumping. I loved every moment of breast feeding but it got to the point where he didn’t want to latch anymore and screamed every single time we tried. I feel like no one encourages exclusively pumping but after watching you with Quinn I knew it was possible! Right now my goal is 6 months then we will go from there.

Hi Cara! Oh my goodness, Quinn is such a smart toddler! And Bria is SO CUTE- her cheeks 😍 😍
I need those bows! 😍😍 Elizabeth still doesn't have a lot of hair, even though she's 14 months old 🙈
Love that you and Eric were able to spend some quality time together 💛
I, too, struggled with breastfeeding with my baby, because she learned that second, being a NICU baby. I'm sure you've gotten plenty of tips and advice already so I'll just say that I'm praying that breastfeeding gets better for you and Bria, and for peace and comfort if it's too much 💛 You got this!!
Also, I think Quinn is turning 2 soon, right? HOW DID THAT HAPPEN 🤯

Hi Cara, so lovely to see you all, i was just wondering if Quinn had her own little baby doll that she could feed whilst you fed Bria? It would mean Quinn could concentrate on her little baby doll whilst you carry on feeding! just an idea or thought! i remember my sister and i had dolls that we loved and kept us busy!! sorry if you have already thought of this!! One day at a time with breastfeeding! It’s so hard and a journey, not a destination. It’s a constant changing and learning experience and every day you make it through is so amazing! I remember wanting so badly to see that light at the end of the tunnel and it never happened, but once we did wean at 10 months it was still so rewarding and a beautiful experience . I hope you get some relief from the pains so soon🙏🏽

I didn’t really like Encanto. I didn’t think it was appropriate for my little kids. (2.5 and under) Plus the story would have been really hard for them to follow. Maybe when they get older. I’m glad my husband and I watched it first.

Hello Beautiful Momma. Honey I'm so sorry that your Breastfeeding Journey has been bad. Aww Bless your I'll Be Praying for you 🙏 Hopefully it gets better & much easier too. I Nursed all 5 of mine. I loved it.. But You Take all the time you need without filming.. It's hard when you have 2 little ones.. Especially a Newborn..Cara you definitely do not look like you just had a new Baby.. Bria( i hope I spelled her name correctly.) Is so Beautiful.. I was laughing so hard at Quinn Talking.😂 She's a Character..lol My Goodness She's so very smart.. I know that it's Because you always worked with her and read to her.. I figured that Quinn would be Jealous of her Baby Sister lol. It's normal.. She wasn't use to sharing you or Erick. Take Care of yourself. I'm proud of you sweetie. Love From your longtime Indiana Friend.
