Mark Hall of Casting Crowns Opens Up About His Fight With Cancer

- We had a chance to sit down with Mark Hall of Casting Crowns and talk about what happens when life gets real. Here are some of the things he shared.
"Being a youth pastor half my life, all my days are about making other people's days better. I'm going to get you through this, here's a Scripture for it, I'm going to walk you through.
And then my doctor called and I remember thinking, "This is about to happen. I'm about to have that story I've been helping other people through."
He said there's a tumor in your kidney and it's pretty much the size of your kidney and we're going to have to get it out.
That really rocked me. It's never been me before.
I've always been the guy that's encouraged my students to not feel like they have to fix everything when they have a friend that's hurting. A lot of times we'll run from people that are hurting because we don't know what to do. And we'll avoid the person that really needs us when you should just go and be there for them.
But on this side of it, I learned that when you're hurting, you can't run away either. God gave us the Church for a reason, because He knew we were going to need each other. So people are going to say goofy stuff and they're going to try to fix it and do what they do, but the heart of it, I needed it.
There wasn't really any new truth for me to learn, it was just walking in the truth that I already knew. A lot of times our friends that are hurting don't really need a new sermon, they just need to know that you're with them, that you love them. Sit with me, cry with me, just be here. You don't have to fix it."

I too received a diagnosis that rocked my world on February 10, 2015 of A.L.S. That day I turned on the radio and on it was playing, praise you in this storm. During this storm it has brought me closer to the heart in God. Without this journey I would not have the peace and joy that God has given me. I do praise him during this storm. He is faithful. Love you Mark and continue to pray for you, your family and your band! Thank you for being obedient to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!

My teacher is dealing with cancer but I feel God will heal her. She was healed like 2 other times. Please pray for her

I think i'll próbably be more like THUNDERSTRUCK Zor something...because thát's what i need...like my dad said - time to bring the héávy machinery in...i álways wóndered what thát would be but i néver ásked...só stúpid...!! Thát's how i went through my whóle lífe...néver thinking further than the lengthof my nose as they would say...nó wónder God taught me to ask...come to think of it...!!!! Jer33:3 and also Sid Roth's book's title was a private joke between Him and me "They thought for themselves" i heard Him privately commenting by my dide mány times on me untill i discovered Sif Roth wrote a book like that...!! 😅😅😅😅😅

Doctors in hospitals are only needed for organ issues and if u have any of those problems that ....... gotta get rid of doubt and fear that can be the cause of cancer

Dear Mark. I only discovered Casting Crowns recently. I have been fighting cancer since 2016 and have recently learnt that it has spread to my liver, again. First time I could have a resection, now I can't. Your music is helping me cope with the uncertainty ahead. I am waiting to hear about radiation treatment and chemotherapy to prolong my life. Thank you. I hope you are in remission and going strong.

I love this guy. I just came across his video testimony at a concert earlier today and it was my first time learning about it (the video should be to your right in the bar and is called "Mark Hall's FULL Testimony (Casting Crowns)" and he talks about being dyslexic, not being able to read music, having ADD, etc. Very inspirational.

We have the same story! February 23, 2015 I was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and I have stage 3 kidney disease in my other. Humour and prayer got me through. I would love to share stories.

I really relate with a lot of what he said like having to be strong and not wanting to be comforted.. maybe it is pride idk.. def makes me uncomfortable and sometimes goes against with me trying to be strong... plus when you hear the same ol same from everyone that probably don't understand it cheapens the words... but the intentions are what I should focus on! I've had many tragedies happen but humor is def one of the ways God helps me heal!! I now realize every positive quality I have is not my own but Jesus shining thru me bc without Him I have nothing!!!!

When I had a brain tumour my wonderful Christian surgeon told me the same thing! He said “if you had to choose a brain tumour you’ve picked the right one!”

It whas God's wil that mark got healed from cancer.
But its not always that way.
Dutch singer kinga ban from the dutch sela group died of cancer and is with the Lord. She whas a blessing to so manny people .
Maybe because it whas her time to go.

I can't relate to Christians being there when the times get hard. They most all turned away. The ones that showed compassion were gifts He sent into my life for just an hour or two....maybe a couple weeks.
When I was sick, homeless and needed help or at least validation and compassion, I was asked by too many church leaders "Where are you serving?" ... I didn't know where I was going to wake up.
When I tried to help, I was told...."What do you have to give? You can't even take care of yourself".
I was immature in the faith. Now I realize those people shouldn't have been in the positions they were in. Not just because of the way they treated me, I could deal with it, but I saw it aimed at too many others also. They tended to only help those that made them look like heroes.
I learned just because people are in high places and/or stand in a "church" doesn't mean they have the heart of Christ. He taught me He is God and grew my discernment to recognize there are tons of wolves in sheeps clothing in the so called churches.
BTW, I was accused of lying. I HAD to be doing drugs or drinking because I looked too good and this didn't happen to people that looked like me. This couldn't happen to people in America that _looked_ healthy.

Anyone here read the bible? I cant believe all the comment here. I know yall gonna be hurt. But someone has to say it. God still heals today. Believers will lay hands on the sick and they WILL recover. You are not told to pray dear God will you. God gave you the commision. You go lay hands on the sick. So he lost a kidney and is a 3 and can manage it with his diet? I dont see that in scripture. I see the finnished work of Christ.
Do you guys not know Jesus was whiped at the post for you to walk in full health and strength. And a sence of humour will not move the mountain. Faith moves the mountian. Believers moves the mountian.

We can all do it. believers lay hands on and they shall recover.
God designed our food for our bodies so eating modern trash is not good for us. Rejecting the reality of diet's affect on health is not helpful. God heals, but so does a proper diet. God is healing me naturally.
God is also sovereign. He knows what his plans are; we often do not. The Bible also says that he works all things together for good for those that love him. Sometimes that includes healing not coming in this life, and only coming through death and moving into the next life. No one knows why he does it that way but him.
