The Hugo Service Station

"The Hugo Service Station" is a series of three paintings created as a tryptic depicting a few moments of a young man's life and family as they had been captured on film back in the 1940's. The photographs from which the inspiration for the work was drawn, originated from a collection of old black and white snap shots my grandparents and others had taken throughout their lives. The three pictures selected for the painting all feature my grandfather when he was in his mid-twenties and document key moments of his life as he began to raise a family and run a small business.
