What a wonderful film. Taissa Farmiga is a revelation. A true beauty like her unsurpassed mother, and also like her, a fine actress. Quelle famille! Alexandra Daddario and the compelling Crispin Glover don't disappoint. Love the house and the clothes and the music.
What a curious film. I am not sure whether I liked it or not. It was a good tale but not so much horror more a mystery. Worth a watch though then you can make up your own mind.
Gothic horror doesn't necessarily need the supernatural. You should read the original novel - it's an American classic 😱😊

It's probably done to avoid a copyright strike? There's actually little dialogue during those minutes, mostly song lyrics, so you don't miss much. You can fill in the few gaps you can't infer using a free online transcript of the... well... script 😊

It's so disappointing when seemingly nobody demonstrates cause and effect, and the consequences of arson fire . As if they all escaped from an insane asylum. kind of irritating when the truth is revealed, that the two girls have been murdering people for a long time. Almost a good twilight zone theme, but this movie sucked.
It's a brilliant adaptation of what was possibly Shirley Jackson's best (and, tragically, last novel - she died at only 48). Only Merricat is a murderer, btw... her sister is in her late 20's during these events and was protecting a then 12-year-old during her own considerable trauma 6 years earlier.
Audio cuts out and way to many stupid ad's, ...thumbs down.

How fkn hilarious, ..must never be punished. Is this film depicting a mid-century beliefs system, and mental health care..at that time. just a depiction. .
It's amazing, classic Gothic (no supernatural elements needed, although they are here at least invoked) fiction - but for a modern age.
