I’m glad you brothers gave him messages of hope and happiness, because our religion is full of mercy and blessings. You did an excellent job conveying the message. The descriptions of jannah may be hard for a non muslim to comprehend, such as the example of staring at a spouse for thousands of years. I think it would perhaps be better to describe it in a way which allows the human mind to understand it especially from the perspective of one who is learning about it for the first time.
And if only his Muslim friend knew how profound his actions were. Wherever he is, may Allah bless him too. We are all that one Muslim friend to someone.
