This is the audio montage that 96 Rock (and later on, Z93) used to play every Friday afternoon at 5:00. I hope this brings to you many fond memories like it did to me. Enjoy!
It is back. Came back as an I Heart Radio station now and came back on Friday July 2, 2021 at the 5 Clock Hour playing the 5 o Clock Whistle when they came on the air.
I can't believe I didn't think to go looking for this on CZcams until yesterday--I'm stupid. I've missed hearing this every Friday when I actually had full time jobs in the 80s and early 90s. I had my small boombox in my office with the drawing board (I'm a designer), and I'd stop what I was doing, sit back and listen to this. I loved it--still do. Thank you for posting this! These days, no more 96Rock and no more full time jobs. Sad.
+John Thomas I agree. 97.1 plays some good stuff, but the majority of the time, I listen to my MP3s. We have 700 hip hop stations, 2 or three fake country stations and zero rock stations. It's sad.
I used to pick my kids up from day care around 4:45 each afternoon, on Fridays when this played on 96 Rock, they would join right in and say/sing it right along with the radio. It was great they were like 3 and 5!!
~Takes me wayyy back, thank u for posting! Miss 96 Rock...Miss those care free days!! Radio stations are trying so hard it seems just to find out who they are! Thanks again! Peace =}~
hell yeah! spent many a friday drivin' home from work zoomin' around I-285 before it got so damn crowded that you couldn't do more than crawl, headin' for home and beer and friends. thanks for posting!
Loooooove it!!!! I still have a cassette tape of when 96 Rock played my selection of songs on the Friday 5:00 Whistle! It consisted of Motley Crue, Def Leppard, AC/DC, Poison, etc. I miss the 5:00 Whistle!!!!! THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!!! ♥
Love it! TK101 in Pensacola played it every Friday afternoon, too! Was a nice welcome to get in the car @ 5 on Fridays and start the weekend off right.
I GET CHILLS WHEN I HEAR THIS!!! Stone Mountain High school CLASS OF 84 YEAHC'MON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Packed up my car and I got some gas🎶told everbody they could kiss my a$$ / damn I feel old😣Turtle's music...The OMNI
I know this sounds like I’m a pussy but this brought tears to my eyes from the rush of memories of the late 80’s and early 90’s growing up in Northern Georgia.
We would be blasting this in the parking lot on fridays at the end of cheerleading practice, making plans to meet up later that night and figuring who's older sibling would be getting us beeer that night..I sure miss living in smyrna in the 1980's up to the late 1990's..back when cobb county was something special for a rock loving teenage white girl , not just another shitty ghetto extension of atlanta
She's on 97.1 The River now, in Atlanta. She's on in the mornings. They also have Clapper and I think they might have English Nick as well. I know I've heard him on there a few times, mainly on weekends.
Does anyone remember a version of this that included one of those fake Mr. Rodgers skits - "My name is Jeffrey and I'm 11 years old and I'd just soon kick yo a__ right now Fred." Of course Jeffrey's voice was that of a man. It was hilarious. I'm assuming it was done by the National Lampoon but I cannot find that anywhere. Wondering if that rang a bell.
Holy crap does that bring back great memories! I loved 96rock!
Bring 96 rock back on the radio!!!!!

Oh yeah....I remember this since it started in the seventies...

Nowadays WSVR (The River) 97.1 out of Atlanta has the 96 Rock library, most of the staff, and most of the 5 o'clock whistle.
Brings back epic memories. Thanks!

English Nick is still building those rock blocks with nails and a hammer! He's also a regular on The Von Haessler Doctrine podcast.
