I’ve bought one similar to this one about 14 years ago - was a lot cheaper that time 😅
With a little DIY hack, wich won’t take more than half an hour, you can make it a real „swing away carrier“
Just cut the plastic piston that connects the carrier with the door to a length of approximately 10,5 cm (to be sure, I recommend to measure this before) and mount everything as shown in the video.
If you open the door and „overstretch“ it a little, the piston will slip out of the lead and you can close the door leaving the carrier open.
The same way you can secure the piston again.
The benefits of this little hack are
.) You now can use your spare wheel, to store recovery straps, shackles, a tow rope or other things inside the rim.
.) While Camping, my beloved misses can now close the door from the inside on her own, so I don’t have to climb down from our pop top to help her 😂
If the piston is to long and doesn’t slip out of the lead, just cut of a little more.
If you’ve cut the piston to short, don’t worry, you can use a few extra washers when you bolt it to the carrier.

I have one of these Mantec wheel carriers on our 110 and I can confirm it is excellent and easy to fit.

I’d definitely add some grease on the bushings, as you suggested but also penetrating cavity wax (or similar) on all the mounting bolt holes as well as behind the door plate, on final assembly.

I went for the ORE carrier. Excellent design and super sturdy. Plenty of room to get at door handle, clean rear window etc.

No Mantec should supply “all” the bolts & nuts needed so you do not have to get yourself down to anywhere. This tells me all I need to know about Mantec.

I think the main reason is that the plate suits a number of different models all using different hardware. But it is nice when everything comes in the pack. I wouldn't write them off just for a few bolts thoiugh!

Great video, these are really useful.
I do have an issue with the lr parts website though, it is so painfully slow, I spent 4 hrs on it the other day trying to order all my parts and had to give up in the end, I'd hoped my basket would save till the next day but it didn't,

That's a shame. I'm not sure if they had some technical issues maybe. But you could try sending an email with all the parts you want and they should be able to work with you on that. Or drop them a line.

Good job, how does the door strut operate with the additional load?

Still works really well. In fact the extra weight has slowed it down just enough.

Is it possible to cut the exciting back door in half to saving buying a new one!?..

Not really as the inner frame gets damaged in the process. I have doen it and added a second hinge to the upper door. So it works like a barn door. But it let quite a lot of water in.
