TAYLOR'S BACK and this time... I'm nervy! Check out my honest review and reaction to Taylor's 7th album "Lover" - I honestly had a great time listening to it and editing everything it all together.
At the end of the day, I love making these album experiences, even if I don't vibe with some, I always try and find a way to have fun when listening with y'all. So even if we have different opinions, I'm ultimately glad to get to jam together to some good ole T. Swizzle, AND feel free to leave me a comment about anything I missed cause I'm sure ya will ;)

Unpopular opinion: The more you listen to this album, the more you like it.
It’s a grower for sure.
i agree
No
true, definitely a growerrrr
i agree
Just saying, unless you’re a teenage girl (teenager in general really) with crippling anxiety (among other things), you’ll never be able to understand why The Archer is such a masterpiece.
facts
so true
This!!!!! yes.
The age doesn’t really matter tbh. The Archer is a beautifully lyriced song that portrays anxiety perfectly. Even in youth, anyone with anxiety will understand this
Yes!!
The problem with people listening to Folklore and Evermore before any of Taylor's other work is that a lot of them seem to expect every single song of her's to be a lyrical masterpiece and then are disappointed/even dislike much of her other work because it isn't all up to that level. Sometimes her cheesy songs like I Forgot That You Existed, Look What You Made Me Do, Gorgeous, Paper Rings, etc are just fun bops. Like sometimes you're just so in love that you want to squeal and scream about it and your words don't always sound eloquent or you want to throw shade at people that fucked you over. I love Taylor's amazing lyricism but I also love her cheesy shit that's mostly there to have a good time. I think she does both so incredibly well.
this is why i don’t understand how people don’t like stay stay stay as if it’s not the most fun adorable song
so trueeeeee!
@@hollyisverycool I love Stay Stay Stay
Exactly! She doesn't have to go full Shakespeare in every single song, let her write cheesy stuff when she's in love hahaha. I mean, a healthy relationship is supposed to be like that right? Light and uncomplicated
This is so perfectly and eloquently put ❤️
Cornelia Street being described as 'fine' physically winded my soul.
I agree. I think he’d like it way better acoustic
@@katinrollins9995YES her acoustic live version of cornelia street from Paris is one of my favorite live performances from her of all time. i wish he would’ve listened to that instead but ik that’s not how this works lol 😢
it withered my soul hahah
I mean how can it be her worst album when Cruel Summer, Cornelia Street, Death by a thousand cuts, False God, Afterglow, and Daylight exist?? I agree there are some cheesy and weak songs..but it's not her worst album at all
me! and yntcd lol
@@jayeimas5304 so?
i think it’s her worst recent album. reputation, folklore, and evermore are all better. not to mention the vault songs too! i remember in miss americana seeing taylor so excited while recording ME! and i’m like … why? 💀
@@moonlightkayla4903 reputation in no way is better than Lover
@@rxlandoe i think its 100% better. it has a story all the way through.
it’s one of those albums where the girls who get it get it and the girls who don’t, don’t. there’s so many little things in there that make it gold, like the red reference in daylight and the archer symbolizing anxiety. you just have to know
this.
meh, a good album should be good even without knowing
Its def good since it's Taylor but but is one of her weaker albums but that's not a bad thing since her discography is so great. She still has a ton of amazing songs and lyrics on it. I personally love it but it's below folklore, evermore, red, reputation, 1989, speak now lol.
And the guys?
@@jimbob2427 Its a phrase they aren't being sexist
fun fact: in the archer the reason there's all of the buildup and no release or beat drop is because she's trying to portray what anxiety feels like because that's what the song is about (hence the repetition of "they see right through me" "i see right through me"). The queen never does anything on accident :)
I thought that as a producer, he would understand this, but it unfortunately went over his head 😭
@@AshlynnTaylorsVersion probably because when you first listen to the archer it can be hard to hear what she's saying, i think once you analyse the lyrics and figure out the theme of anxiety it makes sense
Just because there is a "deeper meaning" behind the production doesn't mean it was executed in a manner that makes the song appealing to everyone.
Kinda reminds me of pulling back an arrow, but never letting it fly 🤔
People who don’t relate to the archer will never know what a masterpiece heart wrenching song it is . Your broke my heart saying it’s boring 😭
It's ok, he doesn't get it and not everyone does after the first listen like me, but I do now, it takes a couple listens or more to understand it's about anxiety.
Now the archer is my favorite song in the album 💞
The archer’s production is supposed to sound like a middle of the night panic spiral. Which is why you’re constantly waiting for it to drop but it never does.
This this this!!!
New to Taylor! How do we know this? She shared in an interview? Thank you!
Thank you!!!!
I thought it resembled an arrow being slowly pulled back like the archer and your waiting for her to release but she never does.
This!! Ya either get the archer or u don't
he doesn’t get it and it’s fine, lover is an album for the girlies. in my first listen i was like “mmmm this doesn’t feel right” and now i live and breathe lover, i think it grows on you with time
I listen to lover when I’m having a crush
Me toooo! Lyrically I love the variations of love she puts out in this album. I think straight men can’t relate to most of them
i'm a girlie and i can admit it's her worst album yet :')

I love how you caught onto the “blue” references. She always uses blue when she writes about Joe. It’s in so many songs, not just in the Lover album.

The DISRESPECT to the archer is actually hurting me.
‘Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince’ doesn’t deserve this level of disrespect. 😭
also, it's somewhat political too but you need to really know her history and be a real swiftie to be able to understand the metaphors. i know he wants to wait for taylor's versions but chronologically would make so much more sense in understanding her story and the references to previous material
meh. i hated her tiptoe into politics. I don't need uneducated Virtue Signalling Taylor.
i wish i could give this comment more likes 😭
LITERALLYYYYYYY
yes and the archer
“The man” is not a man hating song at all. I upsetting that that’s what men think when they hear it. She’s basically saying that people give her much more crap as a woman and if she was a man these things would’ve never happened.
Now what would men think if it was reversed about women? I think her point has been validated lol
@1 ER what part is that exactly?
exactly, its like beyonce's if i were a boy
@1 ER it is a parody.
except she's wrong in her analysis
as a lover stan, IT'S AN ACQUIRED TASTE. If you listen to it 24/7, you will LOVE ITTTT
Respectfully that sounds like Stockholm syndrome 😭
YES
I am the only one who loved the album first listen? 😢
Stockholm syndrome
Lover is literally my favorite album 😭
in Daylight she said "I once believed love would be burning red but its golden like daylight" which is a reference to her RED album
“there’s no release, it goes no where” that’s the whole point of the archer! the song mimics how anxiety feels, creating tension with no satisfying conclusion. you also criticize the repetitiveness, but repetition when employed correctly is a great strategy for lyricism. the repetition of the bridge “they see right through me, can you see right through me” represents the invasive, relentless thoughts that many get when they have anxiety. also, the opening and closing lyric means two different things at the beginning and end of the song. at the beginning, she’s ready for combat in the sense that she views everything as a war - the people around her and experiences she will have - at the end, she’s ready for combat in the sense that she’s ready to battle her anxiety and face everything for what it is.
👏👏👏👏👏
i was literally shouting this at my tv watching this video lmao! i hope he sees this comment :)
THIS!!! literally how can you say it's her worst album just by listening if the production is good? THE LYRICS HAS DEEP MEANINGS
"This and this represent this symbolic thing that you probably wouldn't pick up on unless you do ample research." Y'all act like music is homework.
*MY OPINION*
sksk. Imagine making a song just to make the listener unsatisfied, and feel anxious? What a dumb excuse
Did Taylor and Jack ever mention this? This is pure fans theory. Taylor never said this
I'm sorry, but the production sucks. This is like same Jack's formula on Solar Power. Very quiet, static, kinda lazy production...
The lyric is a masterpiece. One of the best song written on Lover, because I can see Taylor's honesty and raw emotion there. However, the production... very bland and boring
I get that they want to make a long-awaiting climax, but meanwhile we wait for it, they didnt serve anything
I feel like This Is Me Trying is the upgraded level of this kind of song. Like they redeemed themselves there
In my opinion, The Archer should be a stripped acoustic ballad, like her performance on BBC Live Lounge. Paul Sidoti pulled a few guitar string in the behind and it becomes more melodic and the emotion is more conveyed
If Legally Blonde was an album, it would be lover. It's hopelessly romantic and also political.
Maybe the best take about this album, so true
Omg that's my favourite movie 😭
@@alyssamorgan9691 exactly

sensual politics
The fun thing about Death by a Thousand Cuts is that the screenwriter for Someone Great heard about it inspiring DBATC and told Taylor that she wrote the film while driving cross country and listening to 1989, in particular Clean. So Taylor’s song inspired the movie and the movie inspired another Taylor song and neither of them knew!
I didn't know that!!! That is such a beautiful full circle moment!! 😍
i think that when taylor was making lover she didn't go into it planning on making her best album or the most iconic album. i think she was just trying to have fun while making it and give us a more happy and upbeat album.
Well actually she was worried thinking it was her last chance to make a succesful album as she was getting into her 30s so she worked hard and lover’s my fav album of hers, so sad it got criticized for being childish etc.
i think there's far more thought and production put into lover than it just being a cute bop- and I do truly enjoy the album despite some criticisms. I think us fans go a little easy on it since its her first album with scooter which is also valid because that would be so challenging especially after the huge slay that reputation was
The “he looks up grinning like a devil” will forever be one of the hottest lines in my opinion
I thought it was “he looks so pretty like a devil”😭😭😭

I feel like it's kind of a shame to listen to Lover without having listened to Reputation first. These albums play off of each other so much and they compliment each other so well.
You really have to know Reputation Taylor to truly understand and appreciate Lover Taylor
totally agreed
THIS
WORD!
They do but reputations washes lover
YES!!!
my personal batshit insane theory about lover is that she wanted to make fun, juvenile, FLAWED music because it's the first album she owned outright. lover is almost like her debut album now and she clearly wanted to make some industry bubblegum pop along with her classic singer-songwriter stuff. the way she described her relationship with joe alwyn at the time, it seemed like their love made her feel like a little kid/teenager again. she also discusses in miss americana how she felt frozen in time at the age she got famous and i think maybe only recently did she grow out of that (based on the content of her more recent music). she was also in a very stable spot after fans stuck with her through reputation era so she knew she could release anything and we would eat it up lmao. in my opinion, lover is the worst mixed and produced of her albums and definitely has the most skips. its high points cannot make up for its lack of consistency. i've been a taylor fan my whole life and lover is fun, but i think it's her worst album. and that's okay !
edit: you are completely wrong about the archer tho LOL
I love that so much that’s so good I’m stealing that

cruel summer's bridge makes me scream every time i swear!!! when she says "I DONT WANNA KEEP SECRETS JUST TO KEEP YOU" i actually get so exited its like a full body reaction

For ‚London boy‘, all the references have a specific meaning. If you connect all the places she mentions on a London map, it makes a heart 💗
Wow I didn't know this! Bless her heart 😍💜
That's so cute!!

Okay mad that he didn’t catch “I once believed love would be BURNING RED, but it’s GOLDEN” referencing her song Red from Red, where she says their love was burning red. She thought love was crazy and fierce, but it’s golden- it’s peaceful it’s beautiful. It shows her growth and how she found what love was.
Love your videos to bits, and can’t wait to hear your reaction to 1989…?
I’m a Taylor fan, but some of you diehard Swifties need to remember that not everyone listens to Taylor on a regular/daily basis and dissects her lyrics. It’s irrational to be mad at a stranger for missing a reference/lyrics connection that only the most avid listeners would be aware of.
@@IndieCindy3 totally get that but that’s kind of what this guy does for a living…..
@@chloetyler5062 Well even if he does reaction for a living it doesn't mean he needs to know her lyrics to the bits like diehard fans... people are literally being mad at him for missing references but I think his reaction is completely normal
@@IndieCindy3 i agree people shouldnt get mad for that, i am not, but you dont need to be an avid listener, its actually quite easy reference i think

Y'all HAVE to appreciate his honestly here tho, and also the way he actually gave some solid criticism. He had his own reasons for not liking the album overall, and that's fine. Music tastes differ, it's largely subjective. Also, it's always so frickin fun to kinda groove to these songs with him lol
I get that London Boy lacks depth, but it's one of my favorites from the album. Cruel Summer, I Think He Knows, Paper Rings, & London Boy are such massive mood boosters for me. I start most mornings off listening in that order, then several off of Reputation, because they're so upbeat and put me in such a good mood. Lover definitely isn't my favorite Taylor album, but it's got some of my favorite happy songs of her discography.
Exactly London boy is such a fun bop that just makes you feel happy
The way my jaw dropped when you said The Archer is a boring song. 🤦🏻♀️ pleaseeeee this song is so incredible. When you disassemble it and analyze it it’s so beautiful

I'm so glad you love Paper Rings! It's instant serotonin to me. Lover gets hate, but it has some really banger tracks.
i love this channel because you aren’t afraid of criticism at all, you can openly say you don’t like a track as much (which could end up with you getting criticism from swifties) but you also aren’t afraid to say you like a track which men often get criticized for liking taylor swift. and how you aren’t harsh when you say you don’t like something as much. it’s so entertaining to watch these types of videos from you
I’m shocked you’re not listening to Taylor’s stuff chronologically. I feel watching the shifts in genres in order is so cool to see her develop as a song writer and artist as a whole.
Exactly!! thank you
sooo true
i think it's because he's waiting for taylor's version of the old ones... i agree seeing the progression is important, but there isn't much point him listening and reacting to the old album and then the new ones in different videos
so unfair on lover to not hear rep first 😭
And if listened chronologically it shows the growth of the songwriter.
I don’t get why so many don’t like this album….it’s one of my favorite albums. While I agree certain songs aren’t really deep, there are many that are incredible
I can't breathe without lover
I think it's just because of the comparison to all of her other works. I think if Lover was a young artist's debut album, it would be considered a promising start. But as the 7th album of a great songwriter & acclaimed popstar, it just sounds corny, silly and (for the FIRST and LAST time in her discography so far) forgettable. It's not bad. But it doesn't live up to Taylor Swift's talent.
it's very basic and the lyrics are some of her worst
@@Naahi95 that's reputation.
ikr
I didnt like this album when it came out but i loved seeing this side of her because after all the heartbreaks she got to sing this and "we can make it our own" is just so cute.
You should listen to All of the Girls You Loved Before. It's from the Lover era but didn't make it on the album. She just released it with some Taylor's Version singles. You also need to listen to 1989!!
yessss need
"Lover" is a misunderstood album, it didn't have the success of "1989", nor the overproduction of "reputation" and I think that's the reason why many believe it's a bad album or even the worst. If they really listened carefully they would realize that in terms of lyrics it is superior to both, "Lover" is the balance between their pop albums, taking the best part of the production of "1989", improving the lyrics that it handled in "reputation", and just like "Red" it's a really varied album because through the whole album, you're going to hear bubble gum pop, synth pop, electro pop, alternative pop, country and even hints of jazz.
See I think that lover is really overproduced, even more so than reputation, and that’s why people don’t like it so much. Overproduction isn’t a good thing
@@mollie.28.15 True, Lover and Rep production wise are lowkey sister with rep being better but Lover has some of her best songs lyrically
i totally agree except for the thing you said about reputation being overproduced, it's definitely not, they just used different styles of production, but it's not overproduced
"Improving the lyrics in reputation"
Yesss, lover is her best pop album
I’m a Swiftie and I’m here to say I just appreciate the honesty here. He could have gone soft on it to avoid criticism but he didn’t, he said how he felt. And that’s fine. Lover is definitely ones of those albums that’s not for everyone. And that’s fine, it’s for who it’s for. ❤️
It's a grower, I'm obsessed with it. Also as a swiftie don't you feel like playing getaway car right after cruel summer because they go together so well
Thank you so much for making this comment. As much as I love Taylor Swift and I love having these conversations with other people in the fanbase I personally sometimes find it terrifying. Because I don't know why but I always run into these people who tell others that they aren't real Taylor Swift fans because they don't like every single song that she puts out on every single album. Like reputation and lover aren't my favorite albums from her. But that doesn't mean I don't like any of the songs on there and it doesn't mean that I like her any less. I still like a decent amount of the songs on those albums. We need to let go of the mindset that just because we like her and her music that means that as a whole everyone in this fan base needs to love every single scrap of music she puts out. That is literally my only problem with this fan base.

it's so interesting how there's so much "lore" and understanding of her career to fully understand (and maybe appreciate?) the songs. i think there's a conversation to be had about writing music that requires a deeper, do I call it parasocial?, relationship with the artist - when you have someone who has a passing awareness you definitely hear the songs as they are presented without the knowledge needed for a close reading and that's worthy of critique as well. she's one of my faves, and she's not above critique. lover is a mixed-bag and that's ok! 💖
Love this comment
The fact that me and him are both relatively new swiftness and we have opposite views on almost every song on this album is crazy
Except for the good though
I have to say that I think the reason you felt like The Archer is “boring” is because you didn’t understand it, this song feels like a panic attack, like everything freezes and you feel like everyone can see through you. The bridge’s beat sounds like a heartbeat to mimic the exact feeling that people with social ( or general ) Anxiety feel everyday. Also the lines of no one being able to put her back together and how all her enemies were people that were her friends and eventually betrayed her. So yeah, in the eyes of someone who just saw simple lyrics and almost no beat, I get how you can find this song “boring”
you broke my heart with this take! Yes lover is girly and that's what I love about it- its just feminine summer vibeyness. To me red/folkore/evermore are all fall/winter albums whereas lover is such a summer album. And when you get into fearless and speak now those are very spring vibes.
yesss!! lover is heartbreak and healing. it’s so fun and feminine and ugh i just love this album.
Taylor admited she wanted folklore to represent spring/summer and evermore fall/winter
Folklore is definitely spring/summer

Lover was an instant favorite for me. It came out when I fell in love again with my husband of 10 years. We've had a really bad rough patch after we had our second daughter and came out on the other side stronger and more in love than ever before. So Lover has a special place in my heart
The bells in Daylight make me feel chills every single time. I’ve cried countless times listening to it and idk why it’s just so beautiful

For sure it is a breakdown song not a release song
Lover by Taylor Swift is a pretty amazing album overall. It’s sweet and romantic and a bit angsty, and it’s also the type of aesthetic that Taylor herself went for in this particular album. In contrast to her previous album, Lover is basically her very own creative property that nobody else can take away from her.

I appreciate his criticism, and while lover isn’t perfect, it definitely grows on you. And not to seem pretentious, but this album does have something so inherently female about it. All that repeating? It’s not lazy, it’s there for a reason. You can feel her spiraling and anxiety. And the use of “blue” is a theme for a reason. I had the exact same reaction to The Archer the first couple of times I listened to it. Lover was released when I was in middle school and a little naive about some things, and now, I relate to it deeply as an almost senior. A lot of the fans, including myself, have found that the part where she repeats a lot, (you know what I'm talking about lol) can relate to having anxiety, or even an anxiety attack. The song as a whole can have many different meanings to everyone, but I feel like thats the biggest common theme within the song that people have found.
As a lover and reputation mix girlie, I’m in love with this reaction😍
Edit: 18:17 he did not just say that.
- cruel summer is definitely one of Taylor best pop songs
- Paper Rings is such a romcom song, it could be played with the end credits,. That's why the fade out fits
- Cornelia Street live at Paris takes the song to new level.

the archer is more about the meaning than its bop ability lol, shes trying to represent that constant anxiety and i don’t think making it have this huge drop or swell would’ve captured that. the anxiety is never ending, the song never feels over it never crescendos then wraps up nicely because her anxiety is ongoing
Just because it has a deep meaning doesn’t mean it’s good

Crazy how now Lover is one of her saddest albums now that’s she’s broken up with the main character of this album as it was completely set around him and the more is listen to this album each time the more I love it!
I truely believe lover was for the hardcore swifties, it was a gift to us. It explores a variety of relationships and how they all effect people. I do think lover is a masterpiece
Totally agree with u. Love is not only about getting together and breaking up . It can be friends , family , and everyone!!!!!
Oh my god! This!
For sure. It was our little gift for sticking with her through all the reputation era stuff. I remember she was so fan orientated that era - doing meet and greets, her Instagram lives, being active on social media, doing interviews again, etc.
I loved Lover era
as a swiftie, i think false god is one of her best songs ever!! The saxophone and her sultry vocals are everything ughh
same! i can’t believe that even some swifties don’t like it.
he’s ruining this album for me☹️
Same here for me as well
RITE I LOVE FALSE GOD
omgg yass False God is my fav one from lover tho. It's just so good. the vibes that u get when ure listening to that song is like something that u cant explain. It's so good.
The archer is a masterpiece. That line cut ioff my nose to spit off my face hit me.
This was the album that made me a swiftie so it will always have a special place in my heart. Also the more you listen to it the more you fell in love with it.
I think Lover is definitely underappreciated. It's poppy and different yeah but i think it has some of her best songwriting and best songs. It's one of my faves. It actually took me a few listens until it clicked with me but now I'm obsessed. I think a lot of people just don't understand the album and her intentions with it. But of course everyone has different tastes and opinions which is fine.
Cruel Sumer is easily one of her best songs lyrically and sonically
cruel summer is easily the best song to ever exist 💕
I agree, I believe cruel summer is a top 2 taylor swift song
I’m still mad that it wasn’t they lead single for lover. Cruel summer had the potential to crush shake it off imo
@@iwouldgiveyouthemoon_mmm she has better ones but its up there
@@a.v.a_.17 which songs are better and I swear if u say all too well- (that song is overrated. Like it’s good but it’s not as great as people think it is)
I Think He Knows is easily one of my favorites from this album 😅
In Taylors lastest suprise songs she played daylight and cried wiping her tears at the end. Almost made me cry too.
Watching this Lover slander is putting my in physical pain… like I can’t explain it😭 sorry Troy but this album is so good. There is no world that exists where Lover is her worst album… not when songs like cruel summer, death by a thousand cuts, Cornelia street, afterglow and daylight exist.
I feel so bad cause i struggle when people critique or dislike something i love with my whole heart. It sucks too cause i agree with him currently. My fav albums of hers are ones like Folklore/Evermore, Red, and Reputation. Lover just never hit for me the way those did or any of her other ones, but i think i get what people say that it grows on you. The more i listen, the more i enjoy the album. I don't think it'll ever be my fave though😭
frfr omm :(
It's not the seperate songs, it's the album as a whole thats weaker compared to her other projects
@@ggparadelo3588 Lover isn't my favorite one either though I love all of her albums. But I've been thinking that this album means a lot to Taylor…! So I kinda adore it.
ikr, its DEFO not her worst album, especially not when her oldest albums exist, like the album 'Taylor Swift' WHO LISTENS TO THAT??? Lover is my 4th fav TS album, after folklore, reputation and 1989 and it is golden.
I’m sure people have commented this but The Archer’s production (along with the repetition) is meant to symbolize anxiety and an inner monologue. She’s talking about her toxic traits within relationships and the fact that she picks fights, looks for the bad in people, and has a hard time trusting others. She talks about inflicting pain on others while also being harmed by others at the same time. The repeating “they see right through me”/“I see right through me”/“Can you see right through me?” is representing her inner fears and thoughts spiraling. The song is more of an acquired taste and I think it’s important to understand the meaning in order to enjoy the “lack” of production qualities!
Not sure if this has been said, but in Lover the bridge is very much wedding inspired (chords and part of the instrumental) so the “been borrowed and yours has been blue” is about the tradition of something borrowed, something new and something blue 🥹
I have to say this: You can't understand The Archer if you don't have anxiety. The first chorus "Combat I'm ready for combat" represent the urge to fight the danger that triggers you. The bridge represent the feeling that's constantly repeating. The background music represents the plain fear you feel.
The Archer is masterpiece but not everyone can understand it.
I'm here to defend The Archer
PLEASE read the lyrics. It is one of her most devastating songs. The Archer is for the girls who self sabotage every relationship. Theres no release in the song bc it represents the constant anxiety that us ~mentally ill girlies~ have in every relationship. We never feel safe anywhere, and end things before anyone can hurt us. Its heartbreaking and beautiful
it's not necessarily for only girls
THE ARCHER SLANDER IN THIS VIDEO I AM MAD
her saddest song fr FR
@@sebazzz.salazar okay
Lover isn’t her worst album, yeah I know it has some cheesy songs on it but how can you dismiss Cornelia street, death by a thousand cuts, daylight and cruel summer???
dont forget abt the archer
Also Afterglow!!
Let's not forget false god!
Exactly and false god, lover, THE ARCHER
worst doesn't mean bad, this is certainly a contender for her worst album
I'm so curious to see how his opinion has changed after seeing it performed on tour. I feel like people are suddenly noticing this album since Eras Tour started. 👀
watching u react to my fav songs on here and say its repetitive and not clicking brings me back to watching my friends react to music i love and waiting for them to love it LIKE THE DESPERATENESS I AM FEELING FOR UR SATISFACTION IS UNREAL
her use of repetitiveness is never careless... every single choice is made for a reason.
i will say i feel like taylor tried to have fun with this album, to explore all types of love which can be fun!!! and people didn’t like that. shes got a reputation for heart wrenching lyrics and the poor girl finally found herself in a happy stable place and people didn’t wanna hear about it lmao
YES thank you for this

The archer is the ultimate “the girls that get it get it”
Fun fact, the creator of the film "Something Great" was inspired by Taylor's song Clean from 1989, the movie then inspired Taylor to write Death by A Thousand Cuts. Neither of them knew at the time, how cool!
Hii Ally .
I love your channel
Hey ally love your videos ❤
Hiii ally ❤❤
why do i see you everywhere 😭
the beat in the archer is similar to a literal archer pulling at the string of the bow, it ends suddenly because it’s the release of said arrow. it relates a lot to anxiety, and the repetitions nod to that because when you’re anxious, at least in my experience, you tend to repeat things to yourself a lot
EXACTLY!!! listen to mari troy, mari gets it
I Think He Knows is a bop! It's such a grower or an instant hit!
it was instant for me omggg
I hate it still after 4 years 😭 I tried to like it I just can’t
I like me! though 😎
The bridge of The Archer kinda sounds like an anxiety thing where the questions keeps ringing in your ear and as time goes by, it rings louder, and intensified.
Use me as an I love 'Lover' button!
It's not her worst cuz Taylor doesn't have a 'worst' album.
But if we had to pick a least favourite…
@@whywhowhatwhere it would most definitely be the debut for me, since it's way too country for my tastes.
@@whywhowhatwhere I would pick the self-titled or rep.

"Lover is too repetitive" *but loves Harry's House
Literally that album is so fucking Bad and everyone love it the lyrics are cringe and just Bad and the production is boring
hahahahahahaahhahaha
tea. fr though.
no for real i couldn’t listen to like the second half of Harry’s house cause it was so repetitive yet Lover is one of my fav ts albums 😭
lmaooooo gotta love Taylor and Harry’s writing tho
The way you reacted to "You can't spell awesome without me" took me back to before the song was released and TS was teasing "Awesome" merch and swifties were worried about that exact line being in the song 🤣
my theory for this album with all the blue references was that she was transitioning into midnight's and planned on midnight's to be the next album but covid happened and she wanted to be able to tour midnight's and lover together but lockdown and the pandemic stopped that so she decided to experiment with folklore and evermore... just my theory
Ohhhh yeah, that kinda makes sense, because she wrote folklore and evermore during the pandemic but midnights and lover weren’t, lover and midnights were between folklore and evermore
@walterwhite1973 I've had this theory for a while and I'm surprised I haven't seen it anywhere!! it makes so much sense!
"All the king's horses, all the king's men
Couldn't put me together again" it's actually so clever. She said in the pre-chorus "I never grew up, it's getting so old" - she never grew up, hence why she's still making references to nursery rhymes.
it’s still corny as hell so who cares

its a gay album
I love “the man” every time I listen to it, it’s just amazing. Def one of my top songs of hers
He really hated on this album, but look at that. 4 years later after the release, CS is now a single, and the album is charting in the top 10. This album was way ahead of its time and it shows. It was ahead of its time and soon it will be a classic.
You should so bitter come on, it just his review and opinion! Cruel summer is a pop fun song!
Oh chill out. It’s his opinion
"Ahead of its time" oh come on. I love Taylor and even I think that's too much. Cruel Summer is a fantastic song and grew because of Tiktok. That doesn't really say anything about the whole album. This has a lot of good songs but it's not her best album by a long shot, even compared to her older albums since everyone likes to bring up Evermore and Folklore. I mean, I guess good for Taylor. Glad people are revisiting her songs and giving the credit it deserves. But that doesn't mean Lover is a solid album.
@@artforbagels5039Cruel Summer really grew because of all the coverage Taylor got singing it on tour. It has been all over social media.
Lover is definitely a love letter to her fans. It feels like a friend confirming after all the shit they went through in their life with their bad relationships, they have healed and are doing much better. Especially compared to the previous album which felt like “I’m in my semi self destructive arc. Fuck you and fuck you and especially fuck you.”
Lover is about joe alwyn
@@hmmm6476 not only
Lover is a love letter to herself….
As a massive fan of Taylor’s since her first record, Lover is a very mixed bag. It’s more special to me due to the TIMING of its release rather than its relatability, but it has some SERIOUSLY amazing songwriting. Cornelia Street, Daylight, SOLO written at that. The Archer, DBATC, SYGB, Afterglow, the title track. This album TRULY shines on its ballads/chiller tracks in my opinion. ME!, YNTCD, IFTYE, and INTHAF are some duds for me but I don’t necessarily hate them, I much prefer ME! live without Brendon though.
Also I think if you go into this album (like you did, all due respect Troy, love ya) EXPECTING something lesser than her other projects, I think you’ll find its playfulness and humour a little redundant but I think if you really take this album as a mixed bag of EVERY part of Taylor - the badassery of The Man, the romantic playfulness of Lover and Paper Rings, the vulnerability of The Archer, the storytelling of MA&THP and Daylight - you get a more fun experience. Lover is truly a hit or miss for casual fans but I think it’s underrated in most light.
I agree so much!!!
This album shows every thing taylor represents and every thing in her life and career
Break up songs, love songs, catchy pop songs, her mom, haters, feminism, lgbtq+ support, anxiety, overthinking
I truly believe this album is out there to show taylor and everything in her life so not liking this album is like saying u don't appreciate her life story
@@directionertaylorsversion1328 But also mind you people enjoy different genres as well. Not many people are as open and accepting of "fusion genres". A lot of people don't like soft electropop, but enjoy the folk and country Taylor. Some fans may love her from 1989's mega pop singles, but didn't appreciate folklore/evermore all that much because it was curved toward an alternative-americana vibe.
@@aaliyahfoster2705 even the biggest folklore/Evermore fans don't say it's her worst album
And I'm saying that as a person that her fav album is folklore since it came out
@@directionertaylorsversion1328 I meant fans of Taylor in general, from casuals to pop-era Swifties. Of course folklore and evermore has opened up a new side of her songwriting that we love. However, I do know some casual listeners irl who don't like folklore and evermore whatsoever because they aren't fans of indie-alternative music at all.
@@aaliyahfoster2705 I understand if someone is not a fan of a genre in music
But come on, saying lover is her worst album is just not real and someone calling themselves a fan but at the same time dislike lover is not being a real fan, there is something for everyone in this album and this album is so personal to taylor, it's about everything in her life so yeah maybe it's not her best album and yeah maybe ME! Is not showing Taylor's amazing songwriting, but this album is not her worst and it's just rly good and it is taylor so if u like her u should also like this album, not saying it must be your favorite cuz it's also not my fav but u can't call it her worst and call it boring

It’s just a fun bop song but people take it too seriously 🥲
The Live from Paris made me appreciate this album a lot more. it's so raw and deep! Love to see you react to that!
saying that you haven’t heard taylor do pure pop is so funny when so many people only know taylor from 1989, which is the peak of pure pop
the archer for me is a very symbolic song. the fact that the beat never drops and there’s a lot of repetition, like the “you/they/i see right through me” is all very symbolic of anxiety and her anxiety in a relationship.
Fun fact: In the ME! music video, at the very beginning there is a snake that blows up into butterflies, signaling the end of the rep era, because of rep’s snake vibe, and lover’s butterfly vibe. It’s the first part of lover that you see.
This album was such a grower for me. I watched your "what i missed" video first and was surprised Me had already grown in you because it's been years and i still skip that one. 🤷♀️ But your reaction to Cruel Summer is how i still react every single time.
