    Just wanted to say thank you! The vehicle has been having an intermittent noon starting(cranking) condition off and on. Finally broke when I was at church Saturday. RadioShack wasn't open. But I did troubleshoot all parts. And ended up taping the wires to my spare key using carefully placed electrical tape and it's back up and running great! Thank YOU so much for posting this fix!!!

    To anyone who has done this VATS bypass already and your car suddenly randomly wont start, check the fuses in the fuse box below the steering wheel. You need to use a multimeter because visually inspecting a fuse doesnt always work. I did the VATS bypass and one day my car just did not want to start. I used a multimeter on every single fuse till I found one that was not reading, ( the # 6 fuse was the culprit!) so I popped it out, replaced it and the car started right up. I hope this helps anyone out there who is frustrated with a "No start" condition, as I was. Dont give up!

    After replacing the ignition switch in my stepdaughter's 93 Bonneville, it still wouldn't crank. I found your video and tried this and it worked! Thank you so much!

    I am working on my son's 2003 buick centry. First, i took it to a mechanic, and They told me it was a fuse and starter wanted to charge me $900.00 plus dollars. So we towed it home. Charge the starter and it worked. Until we drove it and we are back at square 1. No crank no start just dash lights. I am going to try this tomorrow.
    Thanks

    Thank you so much for this video. I have the same car and suddenly drove for years with no problems then a week ago this happened soldered in a resister ( resister was from a electric stove display which just luckily was the same amount of milliohms as my key 1.8. Carefully unsoldered it and soldered it to my 2 white wires car started right up actually have a extra on hand. Thank you again 👍👏👍😎

    Throw a $3 toggle in series with the resistors, hidden up under the dash, and you have a kill switch -- so that it _can't_ be readily stolen.

    Thanks for the tips.
    I just overhauled my buick 3.8L
    cam magnet broke, crank sensor was bad, and leaked oil and coolant all over.
    Went to crank it to prime the oil pump and the starter won't engage and wasn't sure if the pass key has failed so now I know how to do a bypass test and what to listen for👍
    Also possible the starter is bad from sitting over 5 months.

      Did the bypass work? Same issue with me on my 97 Buick Regal LS. Replaced the crank shaft position sensor, then a week later I started getting this security light issue. Also , the Trac light comes on too. Probably will try the bypass technique like on the video.

    I'm going threw this right now with .y Grandmother's 99 Buick lesabre,Being the car is 99,I definitely have to take it to Buick Dealership Mechanic to hopefully get it fixed,being the is 20 yrs old,they have to call around for parts,that didn't make sense to me,its Buick,that's what you specialize in,there's alot who drive older Buick cars,why would it be a issue🤔💯

    Once the resistors are spliced in to the white wires, did you cover them with anything or wrap them in electrical tape?

    Just put a new ignition switch in yesterday, a different key that doesn't have the resistor. Did the steps to get pass the pass lock system and the car still won't crank.. what should I do next? Will a locksmith be needed? Thank you love your video! The best I've found! On a Buick regal 2000

      I also am having this issue with a 2002 buick regal I changed the ignition lock cylinder and also did the bypass the security light is out and car wont crank at all is it maybe that the resistors arent in place correctly?

    The key has 7.492 ohms side to side, but looking for a resistor the numbers come up short or surpass the number I'm looking for, though I'm not sure I'm reading it correctly. Could I just solder the two sides of security resistor key to the wires to make it easier?

  • @fiberones2822
    @fiberones2822 Před 3 lety +1

    I don't get it. You mention an orange wire in steering column peel then have two white wires in it. The wire i see has black insulation and goes through the column up to the ignition switch that has those two wires connedt to the ignition switch cover.

  • @HerecomestheCalavera
    @HerecomestheCalavera Před 2 lety

    So I cut the orange wire and wire the resistors into the wire on the left so then the wire running from the column just goes to nothing now, right? I'm going to do this to a 1993 Buick Lesabre and I am not a mechanic at all but this seems easy enough. Just want to make sure I do it right. Thanks.

    I have a 97 Buick le sabre mine has the security light, it starts and runs fin but cuts off while accelerating randomly, sometimes without cutting off for a week. When it cuts off it won't start and usually takes around 10 to 15 min to start?
