The Wire Greatest Death Scenes

- Contains MAJOR spoilers for Season 1-5. A collection of the best death scenes from The Wire, with a few exceptions. I wanted to include Frank Sobotka's last walk, Ziggy killing Double G, The Greeks executing the shit captain, Marlo killing Devonne and others but I was limited to 10 minutes. Enjoy.

I didn't realize how much I loved Bodie until he died.
Fuck bodie. wheres Wallace string, huh can you answer me that? Wheres wallace?
I was sad for a couple days after Bodie died. I don't know why it's not like he was a angel I guess he kind of reminds me of someone I grew up with.
Rick James it’s not about being an angel. He played the card he was dealt. He was loyal, had depth, and had feelings, that’s about as good as you can hope for in his world.
I really hated his character in season 1, long before Wallace...
As the show went on though you realise he's just another product of his environment and out of all the idiots around him he was one of the smarter ones.
Granted he did still do stupid shit and didn't always take the necessary precautions... Search "The Wire Splash"

Method Man has always been one of my favorite MCs, but man was he good at playing someone you hated.
Yes he was
He’s a GOAT. Played a great role in the greatest show ever made, one of the most prolific members of the best rap collective ever, collaborated with some of the greatest rappers in his time too. Man deserves all the respect for that

Honorable mention: Frank Sobotka... even though it happened offscreen, his death was still devastating as he basically got murdered for trying to help his son.
In my opinion Sobotka's death was the most heartbreaking. As the most pitiful character of the show, (just like his son actually) his death was logically the saddest.
Yep
Frank being killed hurt me!! A legend of the docks!!
the wire season 2 as a whole was very underrated the dock life had ppl so confused.
@@tradez401 I think the issue was the time was spent between the police, the docks, the projects and now the Greeks when the first season was just the projects and the police. The third season was projects and police again with some of the greek in there. Fourth season was the kids and police but half of the kids dads were in Barksdales crew. That's why season 5 was lackluster. They included all of the elements from the previous 4 seasons and then added the dumb media element.
Wallace getting shot is still one of the most heartbreaking scenes in that whole series.
💯
One of the scenes that saddened me the most. It was still pretty early in season 1, and at this point I understood : This show won't sugarcoat it for me. It's harsh, but it's very realistic. It's part of what makes it so good in my opinion
Yea they slimed Michael out bad lol
@@paulspl2581 Absolutely. Producer David Simon spoke in an interview about how the chess scene with D'Angelo, Wallace, Bodie and Poot was written to foreshadow the fate of those characters. When D'Angelo explains pawns he says, "They get capped quick. They be out the game early." The camera momentarily focuses on Wallace. He ended up dead because he had a heart and a conscience. Poot was the only one still alive by the time the series ended.
Shit broke my heart.
Omars death shocked me, bodie death traumatized me
effing Kennard
Prison Mike more like an example that anyone can die at anytime more than a “ pathetic ending “
Prison Mike no. It fit quite well actually, Omar was always on his guard but when it came to kids he had a soft spot, he disregarded the kid in the store in a way he never did others, they explained it in an interview wish I had the link. But the only person willing to take a shot at Omar was a kid, Someone who didn’t know any better and who Omar wouldn’t perceive as a threat.
@@johnnybravo8129 Clearly you didn't get the meaning behind it. You must be a casual.
Bodie and Stringers death hurt my heart
"That was for Joe." I fuckin love slim charles great way to open the video
I never in my life watch a show like the Wire. I had so much father feeling for Dukie. It broke my heart seeing him end like that.
dam, thought it was me
Dukie turned into bubbles in the end. And Michael turned into Omar. Such a great fucking show
xafricanbloodx37 Exactly, I love how they pretty much preview the next chapter of the story. Same roles, different cast.
@@tommycloud8366 it's like what Slim Charles says to Cutty: "the game's the same, just got more fierce."
It's heartbreaking but it's real. His parents were junkies, he was poor, bullied, was betrayed by the education system...he wasn't given half a chance in life
Everyone's death pulled at my heart strings , funny how the writers made it so we sympathized and cared for every single character good or bad .
you felt sorry for cheese ? for real mate ?
i didnt feel sorry for felicia neither , i wanted her to die since the first episode she come up .
cheesin it was sad how she said how does my hair look
Had no sympathy for snoop
There are no good or bad characters.
Slim Charles killing Cheese was my favorite. Fuck I hated that character. Wallace's death was the saddest.
Mike killing snoop was the best death scene in this show followed by Brother Mouzone and Omar killing Stringer, the most shocking one was Kenard killing Omar, and the saddest one was Poot/Bodie killing Wallace
Saddest one was Bodie to me. He was stand up and lived by the code.

Nope, he gave him that 3 piece + soda barehanded, that’s why he got caught, I think that was the only body where they found his dna
Mohamed Coulibaly brase knuckles on my dude
“How my hair look, Mike?” Snoop was gangster til the end.
That moment is meant to show the very opposite I think. She's a hard core biatch most of the time. She's a million miles from almost every other female character in the show, but right at that moment, she's just like every other girl, concerned about how pretty she looks. What's even more powerful is that Mike recognises this and allows her that moment as it will be her last.
@@davidlean1060 you’re right...it showed a glimpse of her humanity. What I meant was how cold blooded she was in the face of imminent death. No begging, no pleading, just accepting that this was her end. “You look good, girl” was the perfect response from Mike. All in all this was a well written, well acted, powerful scene.
@@vanillathunder3024 It's a brilliant little scene for sure. You learn so much about her and Mike. I felt kinda sorry for her right there and then, not because she was getting clipped, she fully deserved that given the rules of the game, but because she probably never had a chance of a decent life. I imagine she was no different to all the other young hoppers, dragged into the game at an age when she wasn't smart enough to resist.
@@davidlean1060 fascinating how many ppl took it as her reverting to some feminine stereotypes, hardcore projecting your own assumptions for no reason lol. She’s not the first g to ask if she looks good before she dies, and to me it was an excuse to turn her head so she didn’t get shot it the face. “she’s just like every other girl, concerned about how pretty she looks” pretty cringe takeaway lol
@@TheFreshTrumpet Fair enough. I saw it as an imitate moment between the two. Mike is going to do herin anyway, but he allows to be a regular girl and not a hardcore killer in her last moments. I see it in one light, you another. I don't agree with you, but thanks for replying none the less.
Butchie: "Ain't no other way I can see that."
Butchie is blind. He isn't seeing anything.
joenicedj lmao😂😂😂 4real
I think the point was that even a blind man could see that his options were snitch on Omar or die, and the latter just wasn’t an option for a guy like Butchie. Just had that realization
@@VaultRadio ....dude too stupid to understand what Butchie saying, smh
@@VaultRadiohe also realizes they would have killed him anyway
This show is so genius. They drop you in a world with these characters, show you who they are and what they’re about. Then without even telling you they’re doing it they show you exactly how they became who they are. They show that people don’t become who they are overnight and that it’s an accumulation of past trauma and the things they’ve had to do makes them what they are.
best tv series ever period
Agreed.
GoT! Rome!!
Nah Sopranos takes that spot. Wire is great though
Prop Joe was handsome man
Great show but id give that spot to the sopranos over the wire for sure. The wire good asf but the sopranos hard to beat. And boardwalk empire was good and had some awesome characters but i just found myself asking "something gonna happen anytime soon?" Way to much. Just a lil slow for me but had some good comedy and scenes

Snoop getting got me, I knew it was inevitable, but still
Boide shooting diagonal like a pawn, Chris running straight like a rook, Snoop sideways like a bishop, and Michael as a knight
Gnaeus Romanus oh shit I just peeped that one helluva observation lad
O dog killed bodie not Michael
That wasn't Michael, it's O-Dog
I thought you meant bishops but then I realised, then pawns take pieces by crossing over them diagonally
O-DOG MAN!
FFS! Chris says to Marlo in the scene they decide to clip him "1st time should be somebody he ain't no...".
Marlo agrees.
In the Drill Sgts.Snoop & Chris scene O-Dog responds to their hypothetical with a sharp "Head Shot". And fuck does he deliver the *HEAD SHOT* (s).
Michael wouldn't have been that cold to Bodie man c'mon
Poot telling Bodie, "Come on man," was like GODS final effort to save him! It's ultimately your choice if you want to change.
He would’ve gotten killed; Boadies killer was in the cut, in the direction Poot ran. It was over for him either way.
@@DarkSideOfTheBrightSide You will be suprised what GOD can do. Moses and the people were cornered until GOD parted the Sea. There were people in the Mob who turned to GOD and was saved. I know someone who got shot 9 times and survived. I know another person who had a gun pointed at him point blank range and the gun jammed. I survived the brink of death a few times and was delivered from the grips of death. With GOD, all things are possible.
L.L.C. LIVE LIKE CHRIST yea, I can appreciate that; I’ve survived some situations that I know I shouldn’t have.. but, in this show? I think it was Poot that was spared by god, if that’s your perspective; because m, if Boadie would’ve left with Poot? Poot would’ve gotten killed too.. maybe Boadie knew that, and told Poot to go, he knew his time was up.. God spared Poot, and Poot went and got a job doing better than being in the streets..
Same with Namond, Michael was God speaking to him through those slaps to wake up & realize the streets are not for you.
Wish God would’ve taken care of Dookie, though, he really needed saving.. as well, as the kid who went back to the group home..

Snoop was so good, she was a stone cold killer, yet even in a scene where she meets her end trying to kill a kid who trusted them and telling that same kid he was never one of them she still manages to bring a tear to me with “how my hair look man”
Indeed. Though, I always thought she says “how my hair look Mike?”
strangely i felt worse for bodie than wallace in the scene where he killed him. J. D. Williams is a truly great actor
bodie my favourite character
What about poot
seeing prop joe death lowkey makes me sad.....you could tell he was torn about the betrayal of the nephew he raised. His own family and blood..in a weird way even when slim charles was trying to warn him prop joe was blinded by the biased love for his blood and his values of loyalty... a shame reallyt
I like the scene with Chris, Snoop, and Butchie, the way Chris stood and watched the man scream in pain and yet still keep silent is cold and calculated, but he still has respect for him, almost being merciful to him for his strength and ending his suffering quickly. Only watched this series twice now, and I can only imagine it gets better the next time around.

This is why it just aint worth playing tha game. Ultimately it's a snake pit riddled with vipers and constrictors, none of whom you can ever love, trust, or believe in.
Stay in skool fool!
Thomas Grey you can play the game without a name. Omar lasted a long time because he was smart. The character Omar is based on... lived and was never got. Thing is your name, the more it rings out the more you are obsessed over...cops, rival dealers rival stick up crews, judges, and citizens. Normal people are the worst to know your name. The public will end you so be quite. Fuck your pride if you are going to be a dealer have a front man who everyone thinks is in charge and you stay quiet. If you are a stick up kid/crew don't show your face or say your name. Nobody can retaliate if you don't exist. In my day people were getting robbed by ghosts.
School really ain't no better. Especially city schools they really suck ass. Getting a degree??? Ask some of my jobless friends about degrees some have more than one. Get a trade, open your own business.
School is just another hustle. The game is the game...always.
Shut the fuck up
Yep. Better to stay in school.
Crazy how when Dee dies the c.o's say suicide and McNutty "figures" it out later on , but they should of knew instantly because he was wearing his belt when he was dead. Why would he have two belts? lol
&, it's a F****** door 🚪nob
McNulty was good police
Man. Watching this clips gonna have me watching the whole series all over again!
That Omar death was a shocker. Whole country was talking about that afterwards
Snoop's death still gets to me. She was one of the hardest characters in the show... and her final line was asking how her hair looked. She knew (like all of the soldiers there) growing up in the game that she could die early. Maybe she even envisioned it happening growing up (and so when this happened, it wasn't the worst way to go out and she accepted it quickly).
But Snoop was still a human, a woman, no matter how much of a cold killer they made her out to be. Snoop finally showed a sensitive side to her, wanting to look good before dying; and it also made it seem like Michael did know more about her that wasn't shown on screen in that she was a human with emotions, and he told her she looked good without hesitation before killing her. Like man, to ask something as vulnerable as how she looked before dying just pulls on the heart string and is one of the reasons why this show was so damn good. Even the hardest gangster in the show was just doing it to get by... she wasn't a comic book villain, but rather just a human trying to survive in her world.
yeah ppl interpreted it as a “female thing” but it’s not like other dudes haven’t said something similar before they got taken out, I saw it as a humanity thing like u said. That would feel humanizing if anyone said it, I just love that tragic scene

Kenards face after he shoots Omar always makes me sad as fuck. The cycle continues
It also shows how much of a disconnect there is between life in the streets and life in the establishment. Even the cops had not a clue until they got out of their patrol cars and started going under cover and getting sources. They were suprised at how bright they were. They might not have had degrees and creditials, but they knew how to survive for a little while in their environment.

Definitely watch The Wire and don't miss Boardwalk Empire either. While I liked Sopranos and Oz, the "can't wait to watch the next episode" factor wasn't there for me as much (not like the binge worthiness of shows like Breaking Bad)... And, to me Oz just had too much unbelievable stuff (like a guard dying each episode and no repercussions happening lol). Wire and Boardwalk Empire are 2 of the best series out there as they have it all!
