Well, he is... When the moment calls for calm.
They purposefully made him calmer so he could fit the whole general theme, league aatrox was made back when darkins were capped at around 4-5 weapons. I personally prefer league aatrox screaming his lungs out haha
One of the reasons Aatrox shouts and rages about all the time is to taunt his enemies. He wants to antagonize them, hoping that one of them could by some miracle kill him. Thus granting him his long awaited peace.
Is he a calm and reasonable person?
I mean he is. Any reasonable person in his position would probably also go on a murder spree
It’s almost heartwarming to see Aatrox glad to see his comrades again.
That he never forgot their names, and finds kinship in their shared purpose.
You can tell that this was more than just a general and his soldiers following orders, but a leader and his warriors that admired one another.

It's kinda funny to think how while Ryze was out finding the world runes, Aatrox was out looking for the other Darkins. Sure the first set of Darkins like Catapult chicken character awoke on their own, but from his voice lines, it's as if he's commenting on the state he finds his own kin in, like Aatrox jumped into the seas to look for Ibaaros, only to locate him through whatever Ibaaros' spear beckoned.
Voicelines aren't 100% canon. Usually, they are a "what if" thing. These particular voicelines show what Aatrox would say *if* he saw the weapons; it doesn't mean he did. In fact, the descriptions of most Darkin indicate that they broke out on their own.

@@ethanstyant9704 its entirely based off the will of the human they're attempting to possess. Kayn was bred from a young age to be an assassin so the will necessary for that is high af. It's also likely Rhaast is a newly born/released Darkin and Kayn is his first possession.

Aatrox always a tragic figure, but now he has a redeeming quality. He genuinely cares about(most) of his fellow Darkin and for most of them it seems to be mutual. Even as corrupted and damaged as they are, they still trust their general to lead them.
Now we see why he is so mad in League since he is stuck with Rhaast, Naafiri and Vaarus lmao.

The fact that Aatrox took on Kayle, Ryze, and Xolaani, at the same time..... I think Necrit may need to reanalyze his place on that "most powerful champions" list LOL
Seriously though, it's sad how ironic it is that Aatrox criticizes Varus' "mortal emotions," yet shows such care and compassion to his fellow Darkin, unaware it's a "mortal emotion" as well. This kind of serves as proof that he really was a noble soul, to care so deeply even in his current state and madness, we now even know he's not just trying to "end his suffering," he's trying to free all of them, it's why he's calling them to this "last war." He may be one of the most tragic antagonists of any setting I've ever read or heard of, maybe even on par with the likes of Emet Selch, props to Riot's lore team.
Aatrox's lore is one of Riot's crown jewels at this point, it's absolutely outstanding.
Later on, Aatrox is forced to work with Kayle and Ryze after Xolaani absorbs Mihira. How funny that is for that to happen.
@@DSMister ok first of all, kayle is much stronger than mihra because she is more connected with the aspect meanwhile mihra is just a host. Second, you cannot compare xolaani taking over an aspect host to aatrox wiping the stars of the ACTUAL aspect of war.

I love the characterization they gave Aatrox through these voice lines. It really shows a new side of him, before the maddened state we see him in LoL. His interactions with his fellow darkin, and Joraal in particular show him to be such a caring leader, looking out for his teammates and respecting their power. The voice lines he has about the blessed isles shows that even as a darkin, he still has memories and recognition of what was once a beautiful and sacred place.
Wish we'll get more content like this for the characters we know and love.

I feel like it was a missed opportunity for Riot to not do it in Wild Rift as a mini event.
I mean... Wild Rift has already a quote-on-quote "mini event" of Renekton vs Nasus and Kha'zix vs Rengar at sertain points in the game so why didn't Riot do one about Aatrox and Pantheon once Aatrox got released it's beyond me.

See, for all his bluster, I'm not sure Aurelion WOULD destroy all of Runeterra - he'd want to destroy Targon for sure (and I don't just mean the mountain, I mean the empire beyond Runeterra), but I think if he saw that there were enough good people in Runeterra he'd probably spare it - especially if they helped him fight Targon, like Pantheon is doing.
At his heart Aurelion is a creator, an artist - even in spite of his enslavement, I think he'd still be on the side of life in the end. We know he hates the Void, so he probably wouldn't like Aatrox much either.

It sounds like Xolaani left the front lines during the war in Icathia. Aatrox calls her a coward, so she ran? And maybe she tried to warn them that they couldnt handle it, and now every is corupt with ptsd (poor Joraal 😔).
Xolaani was the reason for Darkins War. She tried to control her kind with her blood magic to hold the world in peace.

I didn't read the lore but all I knew that Xolaani is kinda like a priest of Shurima before she was corrupted. I didn't knew what makes her to be despise by Aatrox so much...
She fled the front lines and corrupted their forms into what they are now
she simply didnt trust the other darkins to stay calm (tricked all the darkins into taking blood magic so she could use it to control them) which triggered a war between her and the general aatrox which got them all sealed to their weapons by targonian aspects
She tried to pull a Zerg/Tyranid by doing something Similar to Bel'Veth: uniting the world in herself.
She was planning to control the entire world in a hivemind, which would bring an end to war, suffering, turmoil and even sound itself.
After she absorbed what seemed to be Horazi and then Mihira into her being, we can see what that progress would look like in her Aspect's Bane form.
Naturally, being united in a massive hivemind against their will by some crazy ho is not what most of the darkin wanted, especially not Aatrox who was their leader.
Then the Darkin war broke out, those that were under Xoolani's control and those that resisted with Aatrox clashed, until twilight trickery and other targonian intervention sealed them in their current suffering.
If you sum it all up, Aatrox hates Xoolani because she started this whole mess.
without her, they would either be Ascended, or dead, but not this horrid middle form.

I think it's because the Darkin saga is only a "what if" scenario caused by Kayn overcoming Rhaast to become a Shadow Assassin and raided Master Yi's temple. Thus, leading to the events of Xolaani taking over Jun's body and this huge battle between the Darkins and some other champions.
That or the budget cutting for this gane is finally taking its toll for its quality and immersion.

No that's not canon , niether of kayn or rhaast won and kayn didn't get defeated and in the rhaast version he actually took the weapon so yeah both those aren't canon

Yeah but kayn story is not canon even in this event , it has 2 endings and the developers themselves said it's not so we don't know what actually happened and even if it's that's doesn't mean that they shouldn't have interactions I mean they are both on the field and be have interactions with other datkin captains why not have an interaction with a general who calls him brother

Living in Runeterra is likely even worse than living in Attack On Titan, Berserk and JoJo universe, I mean most thing will come to kill you in Runeterra, demons, darkins, ghost, zombie..... though this is just a normal day in Ohio
@@Jogyot3260 good thing if they just kill you the void corrupts you turning you mad is the least it can do to you worst you become something like malzahar, darkins assimilate you and if your strong enough it will be a slow and painfull process, you need to be strong or resourceful in noxus, else you just die in the ditch, demacia is racist for mages, ionia is quite good before the invasion happened after invasion some furries (vastayan) just flat out want to kill humans, you dont die in shadow isles(and its not a good thing), shurima is a dessert, targon has zealots that condemn people just because they don't believe in their gods, freljord is cold(not counting that theres trolls, yetis, and monstrocities their thay can drain your sanity), if you have a finite lifespan and you go to bandle city for a few minutes you come back an old man in runeterra if your luck, bilgewater is surprisingly safe as long as you have connections but not safer than piltover and zaun(it becomes the most dangerous place in runeterra during harrowing though) ,to top it all there are demons everywhere(i mean fiddle is everywhere ,nocturne is in your dreams though for the time being his banished somwhere and azakana is a thing) theres also world ending threat in every part of the planet(ionia has syndra sealed, shadow isles has viego, shurima has the darkins and belveth and other void borns, targon has a dragon which is not happy being a slave, Demacia has Fiddlesticks for the moment, Noxus has Mordekaiser, Frejlord has the frozen watchers, Leblanc is everywhere there moght be others but I cant remember) . So yeah Runeterra is cool and all but I DONT WANT TO LIVE there😁.

(If I recall correctly, Naganeka was originally named Valeeva in previous stories, and is named as such in the game files, but was eventually changed to Naganeka, so the line might be referring to him 'getting her name wrong', so to speak.)
Nope, Naganeka and Valeeva are two different Darkin we know from the story Riot published after Aatrox rework
Naganeka And Valeeva are two different darkins. Naganeka was the snake-like(until a chicken became her host) darkin in the twilight of the gods, while Valeeva is believed to be Varus' sister

She used to be healer and despised war, which wasn’t a good thing since Ascended are supposed to defend Shurima, after Icathia she became obsessed with blood magic and found a way to manipulate one’s blood turning them into puppets against their will
