    Glad to have someone from my own state talking about winter performance! If I have to hear another texan do winter tire reviews based on the less then one inch they got last year… just thank you lol

    I'm loving my toyo at3's. I like the weight of the tire, 285 65 20, the on road manors, and the snow and wet weather performance. I got about 14-15 k miles on mine and they look brand new. Plenty of towing miles on them as well. Super happy with them. I have never bought the same tires twice and these may be the first time I do. I'm going to stick with my factory wheels for once in my life. Guess I'm getting old. I like the look of the black wheels. Speaking of unsprung weight, according to fca, the factory wheels weight 30 lbs. Any aftermarket wheel in a 20x9 are about 45lbs so adding a decent amount of weight. I don't want to lose any mpg or performance as I like how the truck feels as it is.

    Just picked up a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/Ts on my 2500, haven’t had the chance to try in snow/ice but so far they’re good. Very aggressive tire while being quiet on the highway

    This was the review I was looking for. I am getting ready to mount a set of LT rated at3's on my 03' F150. I have the same requirements- only I'm not towing heavy trailers like you do, I tow our 16' Alumacraft boat to the lake, to other states, etc for fishing trips, and it's my daily driver. I also drive in cornfields/bean stubble in the fall when hunting waterfowl- that stuff along with gravel destroys P-rated tires very fast. Pop your tire in some bean stubble, then have fun changing the tire, haha. Really looking forward to the snow/ice traction- I drive on frozen lakes ice fishing up in Minnesota/South Dakota/Wisconsin. How's that 6.7 treating you so far? She's just getting started, lol. I work for Cummins, so OCCASIONALLY we'll get one in to trouble shoot on someone's hotshot truck- had one guy who had a grid heater bolt get sucked down into the intake, and then down into one of the pistons. Was a problem for that year/model- Local dodge dealer missed it. Had to do a soft overhaul with an upper kit, new Dodge intake manifold, grid heater. Wasn't a cheap repair at our labor rates for sure. Thanks for the review, very helpful and made me feel good about my purchase. Was also considering the KO2's based on recommendation from diesel tech coworkers- but got these based on reviews/research. Both solid tires. Thanks again!

    In Canada we have a tire by Toyo called the Open Country CT. It was specifically designed for HD trucks in the Canadian oil patch. It wears like nails and looks decent too! Aside from that I’ve heard good things about the falkens and the Toyo at3’s.

    • @classicrocker81
      @classicrocker81 Před 2 lety

      The CT is available in the US as well but not a very common tire. I think ive only seen less than 10 trucks ever running them but those who have them love them. Ive always been a fan of Toyo/Nitto, great wear, hardly any road noise and just a great value for what you get. Falken AT3Ws are great as well, I put 47k on mine and they only lost 2/32 of tread and I used them a lot offroad and they still handled well on road.

    • @PondstompingAdventures
      @PondstompingAdventures Před 3 měsíci

      I've used the open country CT, good wear, but not so good off road on gravel or grass. Alittle slippy, not bad, but you do need to limit what you do or where you go. They were great on road, wet and dry. Snow always in 4x4. I have the general grabber atx now, they are great in all conditions, wearing alittle fast in my mind, but have 30 thousand km on them so far. Should get another 10 thousand, but they are getting low in my opinion. I might try these toyo at3 next, but i did like the general grabber atx.

    I run the Toyo AT3 tires on my Dodge Durango GT AWD. They are a nice 3PMSF tire with good traction in rain, snow or ice. The only problem is how all of the new All-weather tires develope cracks. The most Crack resistant tire that I have run on our 4wd pickups is the Cooper ST Maxx. I usually get any tire that is not the new ALL-WEATHER tread compound siped at Les Schwab tires. No matter where I bought the tires.
    I put CENTRAMATIC wheel balancers on my wife's 2018 Ram 2500 Crewcab 4wd 6.7L Cummins. My wife is murder on tires. She brakes too hard, corners too hard, and really uses the power of the Cummins. Those Centramatics really smoothed out the ride on her truck. I tested them on a rough straight desert country road up to 102mph. A dramatically smoother ride! I expect to get more life out of the tires on her truck. The mild cupping has been smoothing out.

    I had a set of Toyo AT3's on a 2020 Chevy 3500 DRW. Towing 95% of the time with it. They are great when in the first 50% of the tire in snow. What I really didn't like is that I only got 40K out of the tires. I won't buy another set of them. I went with the Falcon's as replacements. I have them on other pickups and they perform well. We will see what I get for mileage out of them on this truck.

  • @dbkonkle
    @dbkonkle Před 2 lety +2

    I’ve only run the cooper at3 xlt and Falken AT3W on my f350. Falkens were better in the snow and ice by 10-15%, but the Coopers went 75k miles and Falkens only got 62k and they cost more. I need to try the Toyo at3, but they seem like another good choice for winter use.

Just curious what the load rating is on those wheels since I tow on a regular basis about 15,000 pounds, thanks for the video I’m in California I wish I was living where you live👍🚜🚜🚜

    So you should lock 4x4 wheel drive in sometimes to get fluid moving in T case and for tires I run Goodyear duratac's and I love those tires for snow and ice have had like 14 sets of them or so and I have run some tires in my time those seem to be the best for these trucks I have run them with my 02 dodge and my chevy 1500 and on a few other trucks I have had good mud tire and snow they don't do so good in sand but they are ok in sand I live next to a beach so I'm on it a lil bit in the summer time but any ways good tires also for the T case you need to lock up about once a month or so and it will keep your servo motor working or if you don't it can gum up and won't work when you need it to and they are not cheap to get a new servo motor and great videos I watch when ever I can keep up the great work
