    Great video. Love the 78/79 fords. Great job guys. Wasn't sure about 20s on it but they look good on her . I had never seen anyone take the transmission out of one of them without pulling the exhaust and the suspension crossmember before . A big block bellhousing won't fit out through there without taking them out .

  • @dave1135
    @dave1135 Před 6 lety +3

    Always thought that frame support under the trans was dumb, along with the studs in the torque converter. Gm, once the converter bolts are out, converter is completely free of the faceplate. And after you remove the trans cross member, you have all the room in the world. If you're running the factory cross pipe, it has to come out or at least loosen it. And going back in, all you have to worry about are the two dowel pins on either side, rather than the converter studs on ford. And about every ford I've seen, the exhaust has caused clearance issues.

    • @79tazman
      @79tazman Před 6 lety +2

      yeah Mopar is the same way it has bolts through the fly wheel into the converter once they are out the converter is free from the fly wheel I guess that's Ford for ya making things difficult LOL!

    Cool truck. So many C10s out there that the older fords really stand out. Those wheels look much better! The others were dated a bit. A little altitude adjustment (lower) and it will look mean! I've seen those trucks forever growing up and don't recall one that didn't have a dent in the front bumper like that.

    Great video but I cringe at some of the "wrenching". Here's some tips of what I do whenever I do any work on cars... Use impact tools on everything you can get to with impact tools. If you can't get to it with impact tools use a ratchet and socket. I f you can't get to it with a socket use the box end side of the wrench. If you can't get to it with the box end then, and only then use the open end of the wrench. The key to using impact tools is swivel impact sockets and the proper extensions. I used to pull transmissions out of trucks like that in 15 minutes.
