    Welcome to the dad days!
    If this is your first time finding me, my name is Josh and I’m a stay at home dad. I care for my two boys that are the joys of my life. Our second son was very premature (23 weeks!) and still has a tracheostomy and feeding g-tube. My content will be a little bit of everything: sourdough starter, homemade bread baking, DIY home projects, mens clothing staples, cooking for my family, caring for my medically special needs son, and turning leftovers into something new. Just a few things "The Dad Days" are filled with.
    The one thing I didn't mention during the video is that during the feed at any time, if you need to pause the feed temporarily you can just push the run/pause button. Then when you are ready to resume feeding, push it again.
    Please consider liking this video and subscribing to my channel if you are interested in my content. Thanks so much for watching! Stay tuned for more dad days!

    If you are also administering medications through a G-Tube for your child or loved one, I have a G-Tube tutorial video here: czcams.com/video/tcrVlh_E2Pc/video.html Thanks so much for watching! -Josh

      Thanks so much for sharing! Our journeys sound very similar. Congrats on being home! That was a difficult transition for us, so if you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out! I’m hoping to put out more content that would be helpful for caretakers of children or adults with a trach or g tube, so feel free to give suggestions! Thanks again, Josh.

    This is helpful for caretakers transitioning from a hospital setting to home! This feeding pump is provided from most equipment companies and could be different than what was used in the hospital.

    How do you clean the bag after each feeding

    • @thedaddays
      @thedaddays  Před rokem +4

      To clean, prime water through the line to flush it. We also change the bag each day. Hope this helps 😊

    Shouldn’t the dose be how much they should get entirely and the rate be how much is to be administered per hour?

    • @thedaddays
      @thedaddays  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, the dose is the quantity of the patients food, and the rate is how much they receive per hour. The exact numbers should be determined by a G.I. Doctor. Hope this helps!

  • @graceg3250
    @graceg3250 Před 9 měsíci

    Thanks. I’m confused why the dose amount would be lower than the hourly rate amount. I would assume the dose amount is how much is put in the bag. Could you help us understand?

    • @thedaddays
      @thedaddays  Před 9 měsíci

      Sure! The dose amount is the total volume of the feed. For example, 200 ml. The rate is how quickly the feed is given. For example, if the rate is 400 ml/hr, and the dose is 200, the feed would take 30 minutes. Each situation is unique and should be set by a physician. Hope this helps! Josh 😊

    I have a question. How do you get the rate/hr number?
    I'm learning how to use one for my child.
    Thank you

      Thanks so much for watching!
      If this is new to you, you should work with a GI Specialist Doctor to come up with the correct rate and volume for your child. They will take age, current weight, goals, etc.., into account and help you find the best formula and rate/volume for your child! Down the road once you are used to everything, you will be able to make minor adjustments on your own. Hope this helps! -Josh

    How do I use feed interval?

      @thedaddays  Před 4 měsíci

      Thanks so much for watching! To be completely honest, I have never never used that setting. Our son does not require feed interval, so I don’t want to tell you the wrong thing. -Josh

    How do you keep the light on during feeding

    • @thedaddays
      @thedaddays  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi! Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I could be wrong, but the only way we have been able to keep the light on is if the feeding pump is plugged in while running and charging. On the go, our light does not stay on. Hope this helps!

  • @lailanilove264
    @lailanilove264 Před 9 měsíci

    How many feeding bags do you use a day? Is it a new bag for each feed? My son does 5 feeds a day

    • @thedaddays
      @thedaddays  Před 9 měsíci

      I typically use one feeding bag per a 24 hour period. You can either clean with water in between feeds, or add a little extra formula/milk to each feed to prevent you from having to prime the line each time. I described this method in my video. Thanks so much for watching! If you have any additional questions or need a further explanation, please reach out. -Josh

    Rate / dosage so confusing

    • @thedaddays
      @thedaddays  Před 4 měsíci

      I agree, it is confusing! Rate is the speed of the food. This pump is based on 60min. My son eats 230ml(dose) at a (rate) of 600ml/per 60min.
      600ml(rate)/60min=10ml per minute
      230ml(dose)/10ml per minute =23min
      So a dose of 230ml at a rate of 600ml an hour, means it takes my son 23 minutes to eat his dose.
      All this to say, you should work with a G.I. specialist to come up with these numbers. It should not be on your plate to determine the dose and rate of your child’s meals. Hope this helps. Reach out with any further questions! -Josh
