Doctor Who FA: TV21 Daleks - Rendezvous With Evil

- A self contained stop motion adventure inspired by the worlds of TV21, 60's Doctor Who and Julian Vince's WHO projects. The vibrant 1960’s Dalek films and comics left a big impression on me as a kid, and as a huge fan of the 60’s era of the show I always wanted to do an FA with this kind of style in mind. Here’s Rendezvous With Evil - I hope you enjoy it!
The cast for this piece are all friends from twitter and I’m hugely greatful for all the help I’ve had with this project - each of them brings something unique and fantastic to this story.

This FA may be the first appearance of the golden Emperor in a Doctor Who FA, but don’t quote me on that! I hope you enjoy this little adventure, and let me know what you’d like to see next.

Well damn! I'm 3 years old again sitting down to watch Dr. Who & the Daleks for the first time. Colourful, wonderful, a true comic strip come to life. I love the little homages to the Dalek movies like that wonderful pull out shot reveal, and you absolutely nailed the scheming nature of the Emperor. "We Daleks know the human mind!"

Love the sets and most of all the lighting really remind me of visiting Doctor Who exhibitions! Also great to hear so many great Doctor Who AFA youtubers in this as well.

The moment the emperor came on the bridge pissed at the supreme dalek I genuinely was like oop... He's not happy lol
I REALLY thought the Emperor was going to destroy the Black Dalek, Good to know the emperor is so forgiving... ^^;
Legoshi well, in the comics he once said ‘we can’t lose you’ to the black Dalek. So I figured he would try and hold back from exterminating him here. :p

@@SeaDevilLagoon I will get literal chills if you do Daleks Vs Mechonoids. Though Mechonoids these days tend to fetch a high price.
Lovely idea, I had thought about doing that arc but I have already done a Daleks VS Mechonoids series, Mechonoid Attack System, so wanted to do my own story for this. I would like to use the Mechonoids again some day!

Really enjoyed this (can't go wrong with Daleks). I was surprised by the Emperor's restraint - half expected the black Dalek to be exterminated for failure. This felt like a cutaway story like 'Mission to the Unknown' very good work.
Thank you very much for your kind comments! Yes, I think many expect that, but the Emperor gives the black Dalek a few second chances in the comics, so figured he’d let it slide - this time!
@@SeaDevilLagoon That is true (I often assume that when a Black Dalek is killed another one is elevated to that position. Like the different Dalek Supremes throughout the series). I am looking forward to seeing more of your animations.
@@BMakabre yes, I’d agree there. I think that for the earlier stages of the comics it’s the same black Dalek. I wanted to keep that up here. You’ll be seeing this emperor in an upcoming video again soon, but it’s a slightly different take on the character. Thanks for your nice comments!

that black dalek was lucky that it didn't get shot
well, in the earlier TV21 comics the black Dalek and emperor seem to have more of a rapport than one just commanding the other, so I sort of stuck to that here.
Truly wonderful! Loved the sets and the lighting, and that 60s Dalek comic book feel. The Daleks at their chilling best!

Great stuff. I need to finish my own Reshape TV21 Golden Emperor model. And I really think the height difference between the Emperor and the Character Options Daleks really works. Especailly with the booming voice. BBC, take note and introduce him to the parent show!

I’d say the Emperor was at fault for not letting the other Daleks know his intentions. Bad communication skills I guess! Still, I like to think Joe and V4 weren’t aboard that shuttle and they just sent it off as a decoy for the Daleks to destroy while they escaped by some other means!
You never know! Maybe one day we’ll find out..

I have an idea of an animation. Meeting of the daleks. In this every dalek supreme chief and other leaders meet to put their hostilities away to make an alliance against the doctor or something else.

How did you get an extending plunger arm for the emperor dalek? Also his voice is awesome!
It’s not a CO figure, it’s a comet model kit and I constructed it so it would have an extending plunger arm. I’ve made more videos about the kit if you’re interested. I have the Cyber Planner to thank for his incredible voice!

Thanks, happy you enjoyed it. This figure of the Emperor is from a 1990s kit which is becoming increasingly rare, but a 5'' version modelled by The Prydonian (on twitter) is being released by fans soon.

It's Commander Andrews and V4. Do you mean which figures were used? One of them is someone from Primeval (I don't know who, sorry!) and a generic VOC Robot (the original release without red eyes). Does that answer your question?
