First time seen this dude...his spirit is pure stoke for the surf. I mean how much more genuine can you get...I am stoked just watching him ride and talk about those boards with so much passion. What a dude.
Michael Ho. Pops you should be proud. Mason is not only an a incredibly genuine young Hawaiian, he and Coco loves you for real. You are blessed. And Mason your father is also blessed to have a son so purely filled with the stoke. may your family be well all of your days.
Listening to him explain each board, watch his hands, watch his body movement when he's talking. I bring this up because the other day I was explaining to someone what cavitation is and they had never heard the term and the individuals girlfriend said "why do you have to use your hands and your body to explain a surfboard?" I was at a loss for words I didn't know how to explain it to her. But after watching Mason talk I fully understand. And also he makes me laugh cuz he's so genuine. You did good pops.
0:13 First wave of this video is winning wave of the winter if it's from this season. Reefs off the wall winning wave from a couple years ago has finally been out done👏👏👏
Mason so down to earth.. sick good surfer .. only reason hes probably no world number 1 is cause he lets everyone else win heats cause hes just stoked to be out there surfing.
Potts says stepping closer to the nose of the board will slow you down. Wait... Wut?!? He brings that up every time when someone gets barreled when commentating during a WSL event.
It depends on the foil and plan of the board, where the foam is and where the width is. If the wide point is forward you can go farther up the board (nose riding log is the extreme of this), wide point back (90s and still many modern performance boards) you can certainly go too far up the board and slow it down. The fact that every pro surfer steps forward a few inches to barrel ride and then readjusts to turn implies Potts is talking pure shite.

Mason is my favorite surfer! I love how he listens to his pops. Damm he rips
True that. Longer boards open up the possibilities to catch more waves in its many situations.

Probably depends on the design of the board.
