- Hi everyone!
This is the second episode in my Tunisia series where I leave Tunis, the capital, and travel to Hammamet, a popular seaside city about an hour away by road.
The vlog starts with me giving a tour of my hotel room where I also give a travel tip for travelling to countries with different power or electricity configuration. I also talk about the currency of Tunisia and explain the value in relation to Pounds Sterling. Then I head downstairs to the breakfast area in my hotel and enjoy a Tunisian breakfast, sampling various items on the menu.
After breakfast, I leave the hotel in Tunis and make my way to the louage station using a local taxi. At the louage station, I find the appropriate minibus to travel to Hammamet. Once the louage is full, we hit the road, and I give non-verbal comments on the journey and my experience of it.
I then arrive in Hammamet at my hotel where I receive a complimentary coffee and treats as well as a tour of the room from one of the staff members. I also reflect on my journey and the change of scenery between Tunis and Hammamet, and calculate the cost of my journey using local transport.

I admire how you ventured and travelled the way the locals do. You could have tried taxi, or train but you would miss out on seeing inner city places...and with your modest French ...you did well, MashaAllah.

Your tunisian videos inspires me to be more adventurous next time I visit. I stayed in Yasmine Hammamet for the first time in this country, now preparing for my holiday in Djerba island. I am the type who usually only relax in the resort and doesn't visit places where locals go, doesn't enjoy haggling in souks.. I agree that it is culturaly enriching to experience local customs.

Just me and my vlogging camera!
That was a very unique breakfast buffet. The strawberry juice looked good, I thought it was tomato juice😂. Always interesting to see where you actually stay in the countries, Willie. Both hotels looked nice but the last one looked very luxurious with the flower petals and the view over the gardens. Informative vlog for tourists👍

I remember that you cannot take out their currency out of the country. You have to exchange there and either use up all the money beforehand or spend at the airport( not much of anything there). I stayed at El Moradi in Yasmine Hammamet which was very close to the beach. I enjoyed my times there and hoping to travel this year.
Yep, I had to exchange currency again at the airport. They had no Pounds so I had to get Euros.
Nice mate, accommodation and transport are very reasonable. The fig rolls looked good, you can get them here in the UK, bit of an old-school snack, but they don't look as good as the ones you had
Cheers as always mate! Definitely very reasonable transport and accommodation. I was also pleasantly surprised at how spacious many of the rooms are at such a low-ish price. Never seen those particular fig rolls in UK shops. I prefer the chamia I had at the Tunis hotel for a bit of sugar-pick-me-up - I would go back to Tunisia just for that!

Nice video! Keep up the good work. I like your content. The louage station is called "Beb Aleewa" which means Aleewa's Gate. Many regions and neighborhoods in Tunisia are named upon gates.

Im heading to Hammamet in September. Great video's pal. Will definitely be using the louage. Have you tried travelling by train in tunisia?
Cheers Connal, appreciate you checking out my videos! I haven't tried the train to be fair. Many people have warned me about it (not regarding safety but instead about reliability / punctuality). But then again, I'm the type of person that will view that as an adventure! Hope you have a great time in Tunisia
Chemiya is grounded sesame seeds with sugar syrup for the base (sometimes with honey for the wealthy people). Then you can mix it with all sort of nuts or grounded nuts for more flavor.
It's eaten with bread (bread and unsalted butter is my favorite) or with sorghum pudding called Drôo in Tunisia.

Hi mate ! welcome to Tunisia i hope you enjoyed your time here i just want to clarify something in the minute "4.45" that's a sorghum cereal cream and it's called "drôo" here in Tunisia. you can also eat it with helwa chemiya..still too many beautiful places worth seeing in Tunisia ;) cheers !

Hi man, I will land Tunis Cartg airport and need to go Hammamet with my family. It will be late night, how should I arrange the transfer? Are taxis reasonable and what will be the cost? 3 adults + 1 kid + 1 baby
welcome to Tunisia sir i hope you enjoy your time here, so the best way to go hammamet from carthage airport is to get a taxi it will cost you between 30 and 40 euro (100 to 140 tunisian dinars)@@denizmehmetdeniz
Wow I also travelled by louage from Tunis to Hammamet and also by big bus that is cheap, too, around 7 dinars. I also stayed in Hotel Khella which became my favourite hotel in Hammamet! By the way, Willie, what is the name of the hotel in Tunis where you stayed?
Sounds like we had a similar experience! The hotel in Tunis was Yadis Ibn Khaldoun
Chemiya or helva is even better when it is put on a bread slice with some butter like when you put butter and jam on the bread on the morning, that's haw in Tunisia we eat it.

You should have grabbed that glass bottle of safia spring water. That is the lightest spring water I've had in my life.

@@keonrichardson3453 I would always avoid currency exchange at the airport as they almost always offer a lower rate than in town. The problem you might have is that Tunisia has a closed currency, meaning you can't obtain it before you travel to the country. So my advice is to exchange a small amount at the airport (maybe enough for a taxi) and then exchange in town. I had the option to exchange at my hotel rather than in town, so hopefully yours offer the same service. Hope this helps!

Hello Youssef, how are you? I am in Tunisia now and have difficulties to find an apartment for long-term rent, S or S+1, with central gas heating and for reasonable price. Maybe you or your friends know some good real estate agents in Tunis Centre, Bizerte, Kram, Kheireddine, etc...
Can you take the louage if you have a big luggage or it is better to take the shuttle/bus ?
That is a great question! I've certainly seen people travel with some small suitcases but I'm not sure about "bigger pieces" of luggage? Perhaps one of the locals could help us out :)
