Tank: "If they go out on the middle of the water, and rock out on a boat, I'm gonna be SO stoked!"
Sabaton: Goes out on the middle of the water, and rocks out on a boat. With a battleship.
... and an aircraft carrier. Go big or go home!
Sabaton: "And that is what we did!"
@@alexeitrebounskikh5920 And they never go home.
@@alexeitrebounskikh5920 the aircraft carrier was hms ark royal
THEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED!
There is a lot of debate among the fandom as to what Joakim's legs are actually made of. No natural human knee should be able to survive the ammount of punnishment he pounds into it. My bet is either mithril or orichalcum.
His legs are made from pure Unobtainium!! :)
My bet is stalinium
It's made of carlousrexianuim
I guess Adamantium with plaststeel and ceramit....like Lindemann´s.....
My guess is his legs are made of legs
One of the reasons why the Bismarck was so swiftly hunted down wasn’t just because it was one of the few German battleships in the Atlantic but also because the HMS Hood was the Pride of the British Fleet and a whole task force was assembled to hunt it down and sink it in revenge
was also the flagship of the n**** reich
Plus, while the ship was impressive in every right it was big and cumbersome and needed a full escort to operate at full capacity.
When an 1800lb shell explodes in your Main Powder magazine for C -Turret, and a magazine of 4" AA shells, any ship is going to have a bad day. Not to mention Hood had all of her blast doors open during the Battle, to move shells faster throughout the ship, but it doesn't matter if don't have time to close off, and flood the entire turret. Only 3 men survived, and their is an older Interview with one of HMS Hoods 3 survivors, and 2 survivors from Bismark. If u can find them, it's worth watching.
It still amuses me that Hood was considered the "Pride of the British Fleet" when damn near every sailor I've heard or read talk about their time on her only had bad things to say about the ship itself and the state she was in (rusted and machinery was worn out and broken nearly constantly), and how she was obsolete years before the war was even on the horizon. I've heard from relatives of sailors that served on her years before the war, and luckily got transferred, talk about what a shitty state she was in. Feel like "Pride of the British Fleet" could've gone to many other ships that weren't an obsolete, rusted, and breaking down Battlecruiser from 1916.
The main reason this task force was even assembled was because the Bismark was heading towards the Atlantic to reck havoc on the allied supply lines from the Americas the sinking of the hood only fuled the anger and determination to hunt it down, They literally called ships like the Rodny , the ark royal the aircraft carrier in the video from Gibraltar and probably 5 more ships from Scotland it just shows you how big of a threat this ship was
-Tank reacts to Sabaton- "...AND THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED!"
Apparently the old sailor is Bernhard Heuer, the last surviving member of the crew of the Bismarck. He passed away shortly after the shooting of the video.
Well it is not Bernhard Heuer! If you know how he looks, well he just isn't Bernhard Heuer! He passed away in early March 2018, so he couldn't be there!
Damn did not know that
@@huey-fan8335 I think I read somewhere that it's his son?
@@ann-marieellis8523 To my knowledge Sabaton/WarGaming have never announced the names of the actors in the video. But rest assured that they _are_ actors; if they'd gone to all the trouble of finding a Bismarck survivor's son to appear in the video, I can't imagine them never mentioning it.
It isn't actually... sadly, but that is very much who it 'is' storywise of the video itself.
"Field of Verdun" "Carolus Rex" This is also a MUST.
And attack of the dead men
I'm just going to support this!
Don't forget Screaming Eagles was it?
Great War is personally my number 1.
Fields of Verdun is amazing
Oooh goodie... This is how they should've tought history in high school. It probably would've stuck better :D
Yeah, I for SURE would have paid a hell of a lot more attention to this than my old crotchety 80 year old history professor. 🤣

A interesting fact about the Battleship Bismarck, whene it fired it´s first volley the gun was so powerfull it shook the ship so hard it broke its own radar system, so the were basicly sailing blind from there on..
Damn! Didn’t know that!
@@TankTheTech and their Salvo's recoil destroyed the rangefinder of the ship and that was a massive flaw to it
and it also took basically the entire British fleet in the Atlantic to sink it
most battleships cant fire a simultaneous volley they need to sequentially fire in order to reduce shock on the hull and crew

If you‘d like to see a live clip of them:
„Ghost Division“ or „40:1“ from Woodstock in Poland.

Quote from Joakim: "no hair to headbang with, bang the knee!" It's an ongoing joke in the Sabaton Meme Community on Facebook
Hahahaha. That’s great!
If the Bismarck could take the beating Joakim's knee takes it would still be terrorizing the Atlantic...
Being part of said community, I confirm that Joakim himself said this
There's just not enough Joakim knee available to armor a ship the size of Bismarck.
Till Lindemann says hi.
Sabaton was the last band band I saw live before the pandemic. Love this band and the stories they tell. If you want to continue Sabaton journey, here are my favorites: "Night Witches", "Seven Pillars of Wisdom", "Great War".
Thanks, Max!
Second Seven Pillars of Wisdom
Same, saw them in February at Wembly! Had Apocolyptica and Amaranthe supporting we were chanting swedish pagans the whole way back home 😂
one of my favs from Sabaton is Attack of the dead men.
Whats with people giving their new songs only?! Their art of war album is their best
They are the most energetic live band I've ever seen, and the crowd is WILD, there just a ton of love from both sides. I saw them for the first time opening for Nightwish, and Joakim came onstage literally doing a flying high-kick, and I immediately fell in love. That was an epic show (sabaton+Nightwish) to say the least.
That would be such a dream! 😁
@Atman Gotango The pounding Joakim gives his right knee every time he's on stage is intense. The man must have kneecaps made of the same steel deck plating as his vest.
There was a show, that existed, which i'm really jealous of, where Sabaton opened for Nightwish.
That show must of been insane.
It totally was insane! One of the best shows I've seen.
This was my introduction to Sabaton, them opening for Nightwish in 2013 Sydney, Australia. Easily the best concert I’ve ever been to
That's also how floor and hannes met
@@bencooper4058 Man... I'm biting my elbows from envy here...
This is how I was introduced to Sabaton. Probably the second best concert I have been to, only behind Kamelot opening for Nightwish.
"82nd All The Way" (about Alvin York of the 82nd Airborne and his role in WWI) is another good one. KILLER song with a chorus you'll be singing for days.
Also good are "Swedish Pagans" live at Wacken, and "Devil Dogs" (about our US Marines).
I'm totally for a comparison of 82nd All The Way by Sabaton and the Cover of Amaranthe

I want the comparison too

Check out the sabaton history channel. They explain the history behind the songs.
Hell yeah Indy does a good job with the history of the songs and also ghost time is his channel
Isn't that just their music videos?
@@Voitan no they have a channel that explains the back story to every song
They have a CZcams channel called Sabaton History that goes over the historical part of their songs with Indy Neidell. He also does a ww2 week by week and other things as well. Really good videos to learn about important parts in history
Hell yeah! Definitely gonna have to check that out.

Wait what the frick, I've heard of this channel they do with history but it's WITH INDY NEIDELL? *opens new tab*
did not disappoint. Loved it! Continuing my Binge! The Bismarck truly was the terror of the seas and just the simple fact that there was a sister ship out there of the same class...got the ENTIRE RAF after it. That ship took a 10,000 lbs bomb on the bow...and they patched it with a piece of steel and went to another harbor. These ships were scary! Awesome video Tank! I'm all about this!
Then the entire army needs to take on the third lol
"Ghost Division" live Woodstock is something you gotta see!
These guys are truly unbelievable live, like it was probably one of the most kick-ass concerts I've been to. I will never forget Joakim's voice literally reverberating through my bones lmao, very powerful voice.
Sweet! I'm off from work on Saturdays so should be able to join the live chat. Sabaton's Ghost Division live from Woodstock 2012 is a must-see!
Exactly what I was about to recommend, such a great performance
40-1 & Uprising from Woodstock is also must see
I saw these guys open for Nightwish a few years back. Hadn't heard of them before that night, and while I remain forever a huge fan of Nightwish, Sabaton ABSOLUTELY stole the show. Their live energy is insane - if you ever get the chance to see them, do NOT miss out.
For other songs, check out Ghost Division, Night Witches, Carolus Rex, or The Lost Battalion. They also have a cover of Amon Amarth's Twilight of the Thunder God that is pretty awesome.
Damn, that would have been a hell of a show! I've only seen the punk equivalent with Dropkick Murphys opening for Bad Religion.
Considering the drummer is married to Floor from Nightwish, I’m not surprised they opened a show for them.
Yesss!!! They are phenomenal live! I'm talking tank (I mean, battle tank. Not Tank the Tech 😆 pun intended), barbed wires and buttloads of pyros on the stage. Saw them with Hammerfall last year. Looking forward to this!
Funny you say Hammerfall, cause I have a Hammerfall song in my intro in this video. 😂
@@TankTheTech I'm really jealous of their European tour setup. It was like on a massive scale compared to their North American tour. I mean, we didn't get pyros and barbed wires but there was a modeled tank when I went to see them. The venue was indoor anyway lol. Haha yesss Hammerfall opened for them!
@@juliettemcgee9055 Should've gone to their Wembley show instead 😜
@@juliettemcgee9055 Certainly did not have a place for a tank in a small-a$$ venue in my hometown. But the club was packed, so some people (myself included) had a very limited view of the stage. The show was good through, so no regrets. I was impressed that they even decide to come here, as most band coming to Russia only play in 3-4 big cities.

Attack of dead men live
The last stand live
The red Barron live
Swedish pagans live
To hell and back live
These are all really epic live show videos and are really good too.
Yes, To hell and back!
I guess you could say Sabaton fits one of the themes of power metal; they are akin to bards telling a story. In the case where other power metal bands tell often fictional stories of knights and elves, Sabaton tells the stories of people who lived, things that actually happened. They tell stories of impressive acts of valor, of behemoth war machines with a deadly reputations, with men who's strategy, about events, about people who shaped history for all time. I feel there's something deeper about that.
I saw their show in DC last year my first concert ever and it was AMAZING it gave me high expectations for any future concerts I go
I've had the lucky opportunity to see Sabaton live 2 times so far, their shows are amazing! They also usually have amazing partners with them, like Apocalyptica, Amon amarth, and Hammerfall, to name a few.
We got some bands here in Scandinavia.. They are called Floor and Hannes and some of them are marrried you know?
This video is a masterpiece! Idea: i read your fun facts about how "power metal" is characterized. Back in the 80's, and early 90's, metal like THIS (very Maiden, Savatage, Crimson Glory - esque sounding/inspired) we simply referred to it as RESPECT Metal. Not thrash...yet not a "fluffy/comerical money grab". Just legit, well produced, anthem Metal. Nice! \m/
Scott! What's going on?! #8XNation!!🤘
Side note: The last survivor of the Bismarck, Mister Bernhard Heuer, died in 2018
in germany they where called "noch ein Bier!"
Finally a kick ass reaction to an insanely well crafted song.
Thank you to World of Warships for creating the amazing battle scene for this video. All the ships and fighting were created using CGI, then used Live Action actors placed into the scene. This is just one example of some of World of Warship's amazing battle scenes they can make. BTW- World of Warships is a free to play warship game.
Saw Sabaton in Louisville a few years ago with Nightwish and two other bands. Sabaton was so fun and they thanked America for saving Europe's ass in WWII. So gracious and grateful. Only about 400 people there. They played like it was 40,000. Cool band.
Their live shows are amazing and they really engage with the crowd. NEVER miss an opportunity!!!
Motörhead is an influence.
Sabaton has three songs which are about their influences: "Metal Crüe", "Metal Machine" and "Metal Ripper"
Great to know. I quickly googled some stuff after watching yesterday, but never came across any interviews or articles specifically mentioned Motorhead, and I was like "no fucking way can Motorhead NOT be an influence on these guys". Haha
@@TankTheTech Tommy, Sabaton's guitarist, reminds me of a young Meat Loaf. He is a tremendously funny guy.

These guys are the absolute best live show I've ever seen. And I've seen nightwish several times.....
And I should say, it wasnt the production values, I saw them in a smaller venue as an opener (opening for floors old band ironically). The amount of energy they bring to the stage is unmatched
what is floor's old band? she's still in nightwish right?

The wreck of Bismarck was discovered on 8 June 1989 by Robert Ballard, the oceanographer responsible for finding RMS Titanic. Bismarck was found to be resting on her keel at a dept of approximately 4,791 m (15,719 ft), about 650 km (400 mi) west of Brest. 48°10′N 16°12′W
I had plans to see them live in 2020. Guess how that went...
Their Great War tour is absolutely amazing production wise.
The second you said “I would love to see these guys live”....trust me, the show they put on and the fan interaction has to be some of the best. Hands down one of the best concerts I’ve been to!🤘🏻
I've seen them live EVERY time they've come to California, The first time I saw them was with Amon Amarth and let me tell you, Sabaton puts on a HELL OF A SHOW
Holy shit. That must have been an _amazing_ show!
Hey I'm back again, Forgot I watched this already, But I'm seeing them again with Epica in a couple weeks! EXCITING
I saw them open for Nightwish in Silver Spring, MD in 2015. Was the most epic night!
By far the best live video of them EVER is "ghost division" followed by "40 -1" both live in Woodstock poland I highly recommend them
I said that before and I'll say it forever again, I love that in the video THE OLD GUY IS THE ACTUAL YOUNG LAD FROM THE BISMARCK, and the compass was indeed carved by the Bismarck captain with the coords of the sinking, the Mariner was the last living survivor, and sadly passed some time after the production of the video
So the first time I watched this, I KINDA put that together but definitely thought "I missed something". When I watched it the second time, I followed that story and thought that was so cool they did that.
Sabaton - Carolus Rex (the great tour) live Stockholm. Its the greatest.
First Nightwish and now also Sabaton, new sub, keep it up. Also the old man and the young man in the video are playing Bernhard Heuer, he was the last living survivor of the bismarck, he was really given that compass by the captain when they went down with the coordinates of the bismarcks resting place.
You're absolutely spot on about their live energy, it's immense. When I saw them Joakim (the vocalist) spotted a guy in the audience with a flak jacket, he swapped for the entire performance. Just relentlessly fun. This is a cracking song and video, I would also recommend checking out Carolus Rex and Gott Mitt Uns.
But I'm also going to re-up my suggestion for you to check out Frost/Hail by Uneven Structure. Very different sound, but absolutely awesome. Keep the reactions coming bro, hugely engaging as always
That's awesome! Haha. I've written Uneven Structure down so I'll definitely check it out!
@@TankTheTech you're a good man bro, one of the best
Point of fact Joakim straight up swaps the jacket. My Brother in law has one from one of their UK gigs. I've also seen him give someone wearing the look who was the wrong size his shades.
Fun fact, the guy with the compass in the video, was the final survivor from the actual battleship Bismark.
When it comes to recommendations,

First time I ever heard Sabaton was at a show where they were touring with Nightwish... It was my soon to be wifes first experience with metal music, and I don't think I could have asked for a better show.
They're killer live. Most of their songs are really energetic and powerful. I've never sweated as much in any other concert.
"The lead singer looks like he's ready to jump in the octagon and fight someone in the UFC." I have never, ever thought of that, and it is so incredibly accurate. I will never think of Joakim any other way now.
When listeninh to Sabaton you learn more about history than you do in school!! THEY ARE FKREAKING AMAZING!!! Pls listen to all of their songs!!
In the first scene when Bismarck appears i always get goosebumps.
I have to admit, just like you,I have never heard any music from Sabaton but knew they existed. Sadly,I was watching a different reaction channel...I know forgive me...lol... and watched this video for Bismarck and was blown away. Hi! I know this post is old, but I want to comment, anyway. I love Sabaton, and this song is the first one I heard from them...since then, I am a fan. And I know you are too, now. Thanks for the great reaction, I love the song and the video is amazing
The compass has the last cordinants of the Bismark before she went under.
Fun Fact about this Bismarck video... Wargaming (A game developers known for World of Tanks and World of Warships) was in collaboration with Sabaton on this one, they are the one who made the CGI for the ships since the Bismarck itself was sunk during WWII and sits VERY deep on sea floor, so deep in fact that sunlight does not travel there anymore and the pressure is inhumanly high at this depth, so they ended collaborating with Wargaming so they could have great, realistic CGI of the Bismarck even though it was sunk so long ago.
I love that you have per-artist playlists. Thanks for that.
I followed you through Nightwish. Now I'm going down the Sabaton rabbit hole with you.
They were they last band I saw live back in October one of the best shows I've ever seen and got to meet them after the show there some of the nicest people I've met

"To hell and back"
"Screaming eagles"

"Seven pillars of wisdom"
And "metal crew" and "metal machine" are more akin to the history of metal music than warfare but I'm betting you'll love em.
(And this is the short list)
Seen em live 4 times, twice as openers(once for Nightwish), twice as headliners. They give 110% every show, opener or headliner, moving all over the stage, interacting with the crowd...absolute must see if you get the chance.
Imagine the line up: Nightwish, Sabaton and Delain. That happened. And yes, it was a hell of a show.
Iam so jealous 😭😭😭
They are my favorite band, and as someone who has seen them 5 times so far, can confirm they are an absolute joy to see live! They bring the passion, always, and they are just full of joy and humor on stage. Their singer Joakim is damn near a stand up comedian on stage, at times. Highly recommend checking these guys out live whenever you get the chance.
They were supposed to be touring second fiddle to Judas Priest on their anniversary tour this year, but unfortunately that got postponed, for obvious reasons. Last time I saw them was co-headlining with Hammerfall last year.
Song recommendations from me? "82nd All The Way" or "Seven Pillars Of Wisdom" from their latest album, or live versions of "Ghost Division" (almost always their opening song), "Swedish Pagans", "40:1", "To Hell And Back", "Carolus Rex" or "Night Witches". Also, DEFINITELY check out Sabaton History! It's a channel they made with historian Indy Neidell where they go over the history that inspired the songs and some trivia about the song itself. Definitely worth a watch, and they have an episode for Bismarck if you want to give it a try without spoiling a future song reaction.
Hammerfall nice!
Sabaton live is great, during these times they realesed a bunch of live videos from The Great Tour last year. Can't go wrong with any of these.
And they have their own history channel on CZcams!

It's with Swedens women olympic team before the games in Turin 2006. I wanna say that we won gold thanks to Hammerfall.
I love how, with Bismarck specifically, the music has those perfect shifts between what's going on. After they set down the sound for the song in the first minute or so, the torpedo hits the Bismarck's rudder, the beginning of the end, then the melody shifts at the bridge during the pitched battle between Bismarck and the Royal Navy task force, the guitar solo following the final torpedo sealing Bismarck's fate and the thudding intensity of the following section as the surviving sailor struggles to escape the sinking ship and get to safety and then a final temp shift as the young man is picked up by a Royal navy ship, carrying his Captain's compass carrying the last co-ordinates of the Bismarck. As a history lover, the details in this song and video bring a tear to my eye.
I've seen Sabaton, lucky enough to see them in London before the Pandemic lockdown happened and they were AMAZING live. Other recommended tracks from both a musical and historical standpoint: 40-1, A Lifetime of War, No Bullets Fly, Shiroyama, Attack of the Dead Men and Seven Pillars of Wisdom.
And also, the song ''En Livstid i Krig'' (A Lifetime of War) performed live in Gothenburg, is a must-watch! (Specifically the one uploaded by Sabaton Polish Military).
The Swedes will thank you. Remember that there are two versions of the Carolus Rex album, one in Swedish and one in English and both are amazing!
“Wow I was expecting a massive solo right there, I was wrong!”

You need to see them live if all that corona shit is over, at the moment this by far (in my opinion) one of best bands to have the experience to see in a live concert with the most powerful Sound, an awesome stage with beautiful pyrotechnique and live elements that only a few Bands will ever achieve!! Have seen them live about 8 Times the last 3 years and it has been an absolute pleasure and i can only recommend every Single Person to go to one of their concerts😍
And yes, the live shows are at least as good as the studio songs💪

Sabaton has, for me at least, the most emotional songs from any band I've heard. There are so many songs you should definetely look out.
Attack of the dead men, Fields of Verdun, Carolus Rex, The red barron, Night witches, Last dying breath. Just to name a few epic songs from them. All of them filled with history, power, emotion, respect and force.
I´ve been already at 5 of their concerts over the years and they are simply epic every time. Cant wait when they will tour again.
You should also listen to "midway" also from them.
Its a song about the US navy facing off against the Japanese carrier fleet at the battle of Midway in the pacific during WW2.
A Sabaton are the collection of plates that cover a knights foot in full plate armor. There's one on the S in the Sabaton logo.
Resist and Bite, The Last Battle, and No Bullets Fly. Are a couple of my Favs. Really, REALLY cool WWII stories behind them too.
Some of my favorite Sabaton songs, i'm sure you'll love all of them!
Carolus Rex
Sparta
Seven Pillars of Wisdom
Winged Hussars
Lion from the North
Shiroyama
Ghost Division
Btw It's awesome to see that you do the research before listening to the song so you know what it's about. Not everyone does that, and knowing what the song is about makes it alot better I think. :)
Fields Of Verdun!
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the reaction for the one of my fav song of my favorite Swedish heavy/power metal band!) Now, when I watch you reaction to Bismark and hear the song once again, it gives me chills and almost makes me cry (even if I can't consider myself a sentimental person at all). Thank you very much once again and Greetings from Russian fan and relatively new subscriber of your great reaction chanel) My suggestions are 82-d All The Way and Attack Of The Deadman))
🤘🤘🤘
"Sabaton" is the english word for that part of a knight's armor covering the foot.
Just like "gauntlet" is the word for that part of the same armor covering the hand and forearm.
The best art is created with real and substantial history that inspires it.
