Backing into the keeper should be a fouls, but the Palace defender has his hand in White's chest there. You can't have a defender push an opponent into the goalkeeper and call foul.

I'm all for keeping the refs straight but if anything - White was just standing there and if you watch it closely, he's being held there by the defender.

Ben White from corner kicks has been doing that since last year on GKs and VAR sometimes gave it and other times they didn't. Arteta obviously wants him to to do that from corners but just stand in the way of the GK but the GK has a whole box to himself and catch the ball. GKs already get enough protection from various situations that always goes there way but I don't see the fool because all your saying is that no player is already to stand in a way of GK but they can stand in the way of players and justify it by saying it's a fool on the GK but not a fool when it's on a player. Just what I think

Gabriel is literally the most underrated centre back in the league. In my opinion he's been a tank, and the pairing of him and saliba is the best right now. Saliba for me is miles better than van dyke and Ruben Dias

Since when has blocking the keeper been a foul? Standing in front of the keep to put them off/block their field of vision has been a tactic since I was a kid in the 80s at least

Look i used to play GK sunday league only so i got fuck all for protection lol but seriously GKs get waayyyy to much protection in top level football, like you touch them or even look at them its somehow ment to be a foul.

I didn't watch it as thought it would be an easy win for Arsenal but I wondered why Trossard didn't start more. He used to destroy Liverpool when he played for Brighton so am hoping he's back on the bench again soon 😄

@mrwildzilla1449 I can't judge him too much this season but he was so good at Brighton and when I saw him a bit last season he looked good for Arsenal. Just a bit surprised he hasn't had more chances as Arsenal weren't scoring many goals before yesterday and he can be dangerous.

Actually, the rule did not just change last week. It's been happening to Arsenal, and probably other teams too, for quite some time now (I only keep tabs on my club). I can recall vividly the game against Villa in August 2022, where Boubacar Kamara held back Ramsdale while Douglas Luiz scored. Almost every pundit and analyst said that Kamara had every right to stand his ground, and Ramsdale should have been stronger and tried harder to get in front. Then there was the game in February 2023 against Leicester where Arsenal had a goal ruled out because Ben White held the keeper's arm. The issue will never be resolved because of 2 reasons. The first is because we only speak up and make a noise when it happens to the team we support and laugh when it happens to others. The second reason is the undeniable bias of referees and media.
