    The one thing I have seen is another issue, something that was touched on, the turnovers in our own zone due to lazy skating and half-hearted passes. This is something I've noticed in the last 2 seasons. Not given a 100 percent effort resulting in a turnover then becoming a goal for the other team. Another thing I must note is that there are too many passes looking for the perfect shot instead of just putting the puck towards the net. There's a time for being unselfish, and then there's shoot the damn puck. I hope the Avs heart is in it as much as us fan's are.

    Just remember this team did this same exact thing 2 years ago, ripped off a big win streak and immediately followed it by losing 6 of 7 to end the year. Does this team have some issues yes but so does everyone. Boston didn't have and weaknesses last year at all and lost first round, regular season honestly, truly does not tell you a thing about the playoffs. Especially with this core, I think they just get bored

      @@Co_avsnation oh that's true, however I would be willing to bet that internally this team looks at it the same way. The teams that really care about winning the division and home ice advantage probably haven't won a cup before, teams that have won realize it doesn't matter.

    I would completely agree with the analysis in this video. I don't think I'm to the point of being as concerned yet, but the defensive structure could definitely be better. They've had plenty of games where they checking hard, going after pucks, winning battles, and limiting shots. It is definitely something that is drilled throughout the season but it seems like they've shown some flashes too where they played structured and showing that championship pedigree. I won't say they are throwing games, but part of me feels like they aren't pushing to win like we know they can. I think they took that away from last year when they pushed hard at the end of the season and it seemed like there was no energy left for that first round. I could be wrong but like you said, to go from 9-0 to now 2-4-1, that's crazy. Not to mention the amount of comebacks they've had against solid teams because they stuck to their game and structure and the goalies did what they needed to do. Just my gut feeling, we will see a different Avalanche team in game 1.

    The problem with the avs is that while they have some truly talented D-men 4 of them are on the smaller side and besides Manson and johnson, our D-men can't remove opposing players from in front of the net. This is a huge problem. Pay attention to how many goals are scored on deflections and Georgie being blocked from even seeing the puck. Girard is just way to small, we don't need his offense, walker makar and toews provide plenty of offense. Girard provides no size no body and no serious defense.

      I’d completely agree. I hate to be the guy that hates on a player but Girard is constantly making mistakes. It’s fine if he’s making a million per year, but we could really use that 5 million elsewhere, especially when we have Jones and Malinski to replace him

      Guy I've been saying this forever now. Girardnis terrible defensively, and does not provide much offensively. Its not just Dallas, hengoves up about one goala game. If he doesn't get the Puck out of the zone right away, it's almost a goal every single time. He did this against Montreal but annunen made two saves to bail him out. Girard should have gone for a 7th rd pick just to clear cap space. It's a joke we trade Tatar to clear capnspace at 1.5 UT we co tinge to pay Girard 5 mill a year. And now he has a no trade clause so it's four more years of Sammy. This is the worst contract on the team

    I’m not worried about the jets, or the Canuck’s, the only two teams that make me nervous are the preds and the stars. I think the goalie issue is the biggest issue. Guys start feeling like they have to do extra to keep the offensive pressure up, because there is no D like good O. Unfortunately we keep getting caught over and over again on breakaways. Then the guys stop trying all together because they are worried about getting burned again, so the puck lives in our zone. I like us against the stars overall. Our boys chased them down three times and took away the easy empty netter-no quit.

    It's not so much the team, it's the matchups. We've been historically bad against Dallas, and now that bowness left the stars and went to Winnipeg, we've been getting killed by Winnipeg the last two seasons. We've always been bad defensively, but we also dont have enough fire power to control games with our offense any more. Middlestadt was a bad pickup, and we should have used Girardi contract to get another good forward. I've been saying all season long we will be a first round exit because we won't be able to beat the jets or Dallas. Tge only chance we stood was to win the division or drop to a wildcard, because we can beat Edmonton, LA and Vancouver. But we don't match up well against the jets, stars and knights. Bodnar always runs the same gamelan and it's predictable for those teams.

  • @Awolfx

  • @zachgamingzone
    @zachgamingzone Před měsícem +1

    Mac, Drouin, and Rantanen are not the only ones carrying this team. This team is BUILT top heavy. Nichushkin and Lehkonen are both 30-40 goal players, and the only reason they don't have that is because they've been injured so much. if those two guys are healthy, depth scoring shouldn't be as necessary. also, keep in mind makar and drouin only need 1 goal each to hit 20. So we likely have 4 20 goal scorers, 2 35-40 goal scorers, and 2 40-50 goal scorers. with that, my only real concern is the defense. i think we can outscore our penalty issues, but not the poor D.

Compare that to this year where we basically lost the central and are still in a dog fight against the jets for that second place spot and home ice, we still are icing our entire line up minus injuries and we are playing this bad its very concerning and has actual cause for concern this close to playoffs unlike the 2022 team that was only loosing because the top guys were benched so they can rest up
