Hi Ravi, Good video. I have been using the DevOps Test Plan module for some time and am not very pleased with the function where a tester has to stop in between the execution of steps and want to resume from the next step the next day i.e. to continue the same test execution. I have found the workaround by training the testers to select the "Pause" option. Do you have a better way of handling the same situation?
Once again, hanks a lot. One of the best explanations.

Thanks for this video. I have a quick question: I'm trying to create a Test Plan and Test suite, but I can't find it. Also, can you drop a link to the videos that explain the VMs?
Hello, Ravi Kanth for your useful videos. I haven't found such informative videos on azure DevOps till now. Recently, I am looking for delivery plan dependencies. But can't find a solution in any video. I would love it if you can make a video of task dependency through the delivery plan.
Congrats Ravi ! Very helpful !
But i'm having several problems with the question: I need to know how many time a test case was executed. Thererefore, i need have a 'retest' KPI, you know?
Let's suppose a test case has 3 executions:
1 - Failed
2 - Failed
3 - Passed
I need to find out a way to export this 3 executions. I need to know that i had 3 executions do pass this scenario, you know?
tks and congrats again !
excellent tutorial
Thanks Ravikanth, very helpful video. Do you have any video regarding managing automated test cases through Azure Devops? I see there is a tab called Associated Automation on a Test Case, do you have any video regarding that tab of Azure Devops?
Thanks Ritika. Please subscribe to my channel. Soon I will be publishing a video on this topic.
Hi Ravikanth, thanks for sharing very informative and useful video. How can we track failed test case is passed once related bug is retested and closed as fixed in azure
Hi, Ravi Is it possible to add shared parameters and local parameter as well in same test case, if Yes How ?
Hi Ravi, I have issue I tried to check but unable to get the value. In the progress report, I am not getting all the test suites under my test plan. Is there any setting we can add to check. please suggest

Hi Ravi very well explained. I have been following your videos for reference. I had a question for a specific requirement. SaY in ALM we had just folder for each release and each release folder had Feature A with 10 test cases, feature B with 20 test cases. Is it a correct mapping in Azure Devops to now consider the release as a test plan, feature folders in ALM as test suites under that release(test plan here) and create test cases under the respective test suites?
Thanks for subscribing to my channel. Yes, your assumption is correct. You can create a new Test Plan for each release and test Suites under that test plan for each feature or module. Its again depends on project rules and you can change the structure accordingly
Thanks lot for all details.. If you could show Automation test step execution will great help

Hi Ravi, Good one for learning, but have one question. How Regression test cases will be maintained based on test suite/Module?
Hi VIjay, please subscribe to my channel. Basically, you have to maintain a master regression suite at test plan level. Then you need to create test suit at release level and import required regression test cases to that suite using import option. Let me know if you need any more information.
Hi Ravikant,
Good video, but I have one question, I want to run same testcases on different environments that system test, Uat and then on preprodution environments, what I have done I added about six testcases state on test case level(like pass, fail , ready for test and NA etc) and marked them pass and extracted the report in excel. But now I want to use the same testcases for UAT UAT environment so how to use the same testcases , I don't want to rewrite the testcases again, so what is the best way to do.
Please subscribe to my channel. The best way is to create new suite as UAT and import previous executes test cases to this new suite as UAT and specify the configuration as UAT for all these test cases
is it possible to run powershell scripts from a testplan? I have automation scripts that need to run through powershell :/ and I need reports from the execution that's why I want to run it from a test plan :(

Hi Ravi .. Thanks for the videos. Can you please explain how to delete test suite / plan. Under 'Test Cases' though there is option to delete and even when I click ..it says 'are you sure delete' when selected ok nothing happens.
Reason why I have to delete ; I have my mistake assigned an work item to a different team test cases were created from boards. Not I assigned it to right team. deleted all test cases. But when I tried to add new cases it is getting saved under the old test plan.
I have project admin access.
please suggest.
Hi Mahesh, pleass subscribe to my channel. To delete test cases you need to use 'Perminently Delete' option available in test case. To delete test plan and test suite, you have directly select delete option in a specific test plan or suite folder level
Hi Ravi, very good video. can you tell me how to add the actual results / observed results into test plan?
@Jayaraman, you can write your actual Results/observations while executing the test cases under comments section.
Hi Ravi, My devops only show few options under Test Plaa, I don't have parameters and configuration, do you know why that could be ?

HI Ravi, This is one the best Azure devops tutorial i could find on youtube. You have explained very well about test management in Azure.
While using the grid view to add test cases iam getting an error : " The data you're pasting isn't the same size as your selection.". It only allows me to copy-paste one row at a time.
Iam unable to paste all the test steps at a time.

How to eliminate duplication of tests from different test suites? for example you apply query to group all priority 2 tests in a query based suite. Then you make a requirement based suite but one of the test in requirement based suite is also a prio 2 test. This would mean that this prio 2 test will exist in 2 test suites (requirement based and priority based suites) in same test plan.
My question is how to find duplicate test cases in a test plan and how to eliminate duplication?
I am unable to view Parameters, Configurations and Load test in my azure devops account. Please suggest the settings to view them.
Before create test plan what is basic prerequisite
for ex. Project must be created and Backlogs should be there or not etc...?
Access Leve?
Please subscribe to my channel. Before we create test plan, project must be created. However, it is not mandatory to have backkog items, as test case creation doesn't require requirement. However, to link test cases to requirements you should have requirements work items defined in project. You should have Basic + Test Plans access which costs you around $50 per person
This is great Video thanks a lot Ravikanth:)
One question - If i want to move my projects old(1-2 years old) test artifacts like , Test cases, plan, RTMs how i can put it in Devops?
Please subscribe to channel. Are you talking about migrating from one test management tool like ALM to Azure DevOps?
@@RavikanthReddy I have already subscribed to your channel as it is very informational .
Yes you are right, moving all the test cases etc from another tool.
Sandeep, there are some vendors in market and also you can find paid migration tools in Azure DevOps market place which supports Migration activites
How Can I add Shared parameter for bulk test case. Eg: I have 30 40 Test case and need to assign one shared parameter, how can I do it?
Thank you,
Is it possible to insert in a test case an active link to another test case? Help!
Yes, you can convert existing steps in defined test case to shared steps. Updated test will have only one “step”= shared steps. You can use it in different test cases as a link
Very useful video. I’ve been looking for something like this. Can I email you and ask a few question on the advanced features of test plans ?
Yes Varun. You can email me to ravikaanthe@outlook.com
Ravikanth Reddy I’ve emailed now thanks
What is the difference between Basic and Basic + Tests subscription? Is this demo you showed us is the free tier?
Basic subscription doesnt have access to Test Plans and you will have limited number of hours to run pipelines, limited storage for Artifacts
Where as the Basic+Test will have access to Test Plans
Please subscribe to channel for more info
@@RavikanthReddy thanks!
How does it get all test cases related to selected Login requirement. Does it mean the login requirement had already test case attached to it?
Yes Arumugam. I have mapped all login test cases to Login Requirement
Please subscribe to my channel
What is the access level you have? For the Basic it is not possible to create
test plan
Sowmya, you should have Basic+Test Plan to work with Azure Test Plans.
I do not see that "+New Test Plan" button after clicking "Test Plan." Is this only available in the paid version?
Hi, Yes you need to have either free subscription (30 day trail) or paid subscription
Hello Ravi,
Is this all videos are in sequence wise??
Yes

4:08 I am not having that option / permission how do I get it.
You do not have which option?
It was a good session and I learnt something new which I am not aware of. Thank you for the information sharing, but have a couple of questions on Testcase under Test Plan
In the Test Case we have the state (Design, Ready and Closed)
1-So when we write test case it should be in which state?
2-When the automation script is ready in which state it should be?
3-When we associate the automation script to respective test case which state the Test case should be?
Can you please help me with this doubts please
Thanks for visiting the videos. Please do subscribe to my channel!
Find the below clarifications:
1. Should be in "Design" state
2. Automation status should be 'Planned' and test case status should be Ready ideally
3. It should be 'Ready'

Hi Ravi. This is a great video. Thanks for uploading :-) However, i have a few questions on Requirement based suites. After running the query, i got a list of user stories which had test cases linked to them. I selected 2 user stories from that list and clicked on "Create Suite". But after the suite got created, no test case was displayed and the page showed "Add a test case". Could you please help me resolve this.
