Masterful playing! What a thrill it must have been to sit at that console. I always enjoy watching videos of Sophie Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin and Daniel Roth coaching students. They always seem so joyful in their responses and reactions to good playing. And they also seem so humble -- willing to serve as registrants and page-turners.

You sure do get around! Very fine performance. And I'm sure Ms. Cauchefer-Choplin had inspiring things to say--she's one of my faves.

You must be a very lucky guy to play this music on the organ it was written for! Excellent! Thanks for posting! I like videos of this console!

MERCI!

Nicely done, Boy!! You are going places. What is it like to play on this organ. Don't hesitate between sections. (Aroung 2:02..) How many famous organists have had their hands on that keyboard. You are one lucky boy. Have you met and played for Mssr Roth? Good luck to you.

Thank you!!! It was an incredible experience playing this organ, I remember time this fondly. The hesitation was because we were changing a bunch of registrations at that point, but you're right we should have timed it better. I haven't met M. Roth yet, so far I only played for Mme. Choplin there, but perhaps someday I'll meet him.

Les corps avec cinq clés sont ce qu'ils appellent ?
Combien de temps faut-il s'entraîner pour bien jouer? Il a donné des conseils pour jouer tocata?

    A fine performance, Ethan.
This piece is often overshadowed by Widor's other works but it is as great a masterpiece s anything he wrote.
I hope to hear more from you.
By the way, the negative comments about the registrants/teachers are way out of line.
You're most fortunate not only to play the last unmodified Cavaille-Coll organ, but also to receive coaching from some of the organists who know it best.
    Again, well played.

    very good....loved every minute....powerful....moving...!!
is this tracker organ more difficult to play than a "regular organ"?
    très bon .... adoré chaque minute .... puissante .... déplacer ... !!
est ce tracker organe plus difficile à jouer d'un «organe régulière»?

    • @EthanHamanMusic
      @EthanHamanMusic  Před 9 lety +1

Thank you! Yes the keys were a lot heavier on this organ because of the tracker action and couplers, but that is fine because it adds to the authenticity of the instrument!

They're teachers I think; still, pointing to which manual he should move too. He's talented, knows how to play this magnificent organ and probably doesn't need this 'coaching'. He could make a note in his score.

@A Godbee. Don't be silly. The lady sitting to Ethan's right is Sophie-Veronique Cauchéfer-Choplin who is co-titular organist (with Daniel Roth) of St Sulpice and an eminent organ professor in her own right. Having somebody like her sitting at your elbow to assist you and guide you around an instrument which she knows inside out must have been a gift from heaven.
