The Jensen Tornado Stealth 65 proved to be the perfect speakers for my old Traynor YCS100H2. That amp sounded god awful with Vintage 30. For those who don't know about the YCS100H2, its mid-range is even more scooped than a Rectifier, but it has very shrill peaky upper mids. The mids on it are scooped to the point that even Vintage 30 can't fix it. The fat mid-range on the Stealth 65 fixed its tone

I bought a high quality cab (agile) and now I'm looking at these Creamback sperakers .. I'm wondering if these speakers are really just not suited for high gain ... certainly they were not designed for it .. they sell for quite a premium so I'm wondering if I should just liquidate them and go for a Vintage 30, a Jensen like this or a Celestion Governor and pocket the difference in money.

The Jet Tornado line definitely has a lot of tope end presence and that brings a lot of attack but there can be a lot of bass as well. I have the Jensen Tornado Classic 100, It works much better now that I found a good preamp/ power tube combination for it. The DV-77 sounds a bit better then what I heard in other videos that had it.

Yes, first I was intrigued but the DV-77 has more defined mids over the other "guys". But I doubt it matters for the general Metal listeners. The music, the riffing, the unique approach and creativity will hopefully decide about what is trending next. In the beginning Slipknot wasn't really well known for their great sound. It was a bit trashy.

    • @InTheSh8

@@david-no I'm at a point where I just don't spend too much money in software or gear. I tested Gojira and Nolly, recently. I have to say I was impressed. But then I played my Audioassault Sigma again, decided for one certain drumsound and switched through all IRs Audio Assault offers. I found the exact IR that fits to the drumsound and I suddenly understood what's really important. A single good guitar sound can absolutely sound rubbish if the IR doesn't fit the mix or more precisely the drums. In terms of "feeling" I'd give a slight edge towards Neural DSP. But really, I'm not dying to buy it. I had already people writing me on Bandlab that my sound was terrific when I used a Nalex Gerbert with an IR from my 20 Euro SS-11x (Mercuriall). Real Gear, hmm, I think my JCA22h with a TS-clone and no one would care live. Could even hide it and put a Boogie or Marshall there instead! That's an opinion. I had a 5150 already, Engl Screamer, but I remember I was always searching for something, never really satisfied.

The creambacks feel the most scooped . Dark and high end shine. The jensens feel somewhat similar but with a fuller midrange, doesn’t really sound scooped, then the eminence sounds the thickest and least open .
I have an eminence in a blackstar and it sounds tight and aggressive. It doesn’t have that high end fizz celestions seem to have which can be annoying and basically impossible to dial out.
But, the high ends adds a bit of a vocal springiness to riffs, whereas the eminence tends to feel stiff in comparison .
The Jensen seems like an in between . I think celestion mixed with Jensen would be a good mix. I’m not crazy about celestion high end fizz but I feel they are more nuanced sounding than eminence.
For aggressive tight chug thug though? Eminence. And if the eminence sounds too dark then just look for a brighter one. Bright eminences seem to sound less airy than bright celestions anyways.
I feel like a bright eminence would sound closer to a tighter /thicker 65 creamback .

    Hello friend from Great Russia!
I'll tell you how I play without changing speakers in a Mesa 412 cabinet: I like to play old school death metal with two amps in one Mesa 412 cabinet. One in a pair of 4 ohms and the other amp in another pair of 4 ohms speakers. Versatility is beyond praise! And you don't need to change speakers. Just tune one amp fatter and the other drier and it will always be an unforgettable experience!

There is no error for sure ;) We recorded the celestion, and then recorded eminence. You can even hear the shift in the midrange and low end ;)

@@AmendedOfficial okay, yes, but so similar, even the same speaker model sometimes has more difference than this between 2 in the same cab

@@matrixmodulator Can you see this wooden logo on the cab? If you check the clips from celestion and eminence the mic is on the same side. We recorded the celestion first before changing speakers. The fail was that when we changed the celestion, instead of recording eminence we recorded jensen (in the video you can see that there is no logo on that side) and at the end we recorded Eminence (again the correct side). There could not physically be a mistake as we recoded each speaker once and we ourselves were amazed how similar they are in the studio listening :) So the answer is unless DV 77 magically was in my cab before I installed it there is no way that there is a mistake :D haha

Which one had the most low-mids growl and less treble harshness in your opinion?

So does the DV77 sound like a creamback 65m in the room? The video it sounds like the DV has a lot more bottom end

I would say DV77 sounded tighter and more refined to me. I really don't remember if I've noticed anything in the low end though. Cheers!

@@AmendedOfficial thanks for responding! I ordered DV77’s like 3 months ago, my sales rep said it’s going to be a LOOONG time because they’re having supply chain issues.
