    I just did this hike for New Years, was amazing. I watched your video beforehand as it was my first ever hike and was looking for tips, and now watching it after is great cos' now I know all the places.
    We did the whole walk in 3 days; First day we kayaked and did The Mad Mile, and on the third day we got up at 3am, after camping at Onetahuti, to cross the Awaroa inlet by 6am then walked all the way to our Whariwharangi Hut. All that in just one day and it was crazy, but so worth it!

      Awesome! Well done for doing the whole walk in 3 days, that would have been seriously full on.
      Thanks for watching 😊

      Thank you! I tried to film crossing it one handed, but it moved too much for me to keep my balance Haha

    Really enjoyed the video. Been fortunate to have done it several times now, truly awesome, brought the memories back. What a stunning part of the world. Wish I could go there now and walk it again! Thanks Maddi, Neil

      @@madddi100 Maddi, f I could recommend one, it would be the Heaphy Track. Awesome. 4 or 5 days over some truly beautiful and remote landscapes, and if you do it from Takaka to Karamea direction then you are rewarded by a final days hike along the stunning West Coast coastline. Do it, trust me, you wont regret it!

    Did part of this track back in March 1990 (time flies!), I was 21 back then. Would love to do it again, with the exception of a place called Sandfly Bay (quite fitting name, I was almost eaten alive so I decided to return to my hostel in Picton). Greetings from Oslo, Norway.

      @madddi100  Před 2 lety +1

      Yea there sure were quite a few sandflies! The west coast is even worse for them.
      Hope all is well in Oslo :)

    I was quite bewildered by this Vicar who was stealing your food and bothering you, until you showed us the bird. :D TIL about the weka bird!

      Thanks for your feedback 🙂. Silence in video is a lot more awkward however (hence constant sound in films etc).
