Enforcer (on player) and Mutilation + Esoteric (on follower) + good gear + lots of life regen allows your follower to survive without immortality relic so you can use All Skills (Enchantress) or 50% Cooldown (Scoundrel, Templar). Make sure you only do this WITHOUT Unity or else you will die.

Next season, Blizzard needs to make it so that when you save your equipped set in your wardrobe, it also saves your followers set. It's the most annoying thing having to change sets depending on what you're doing.

Not only that but it needs to change your paragons for different builds. Especially movement speed and main stats.

Yeah. I think I might just have like one follower for one thing in the other for the other thing to avoid this problem, but they're still going to be gear I'll have to swap between the characters probably
Don't know if there is a misunderstanding with the multishot skill of the scoundrel. But the passiv has a 70% chance of firing 3 bolt of the scoundrels special attacks. That also includes night's veil and he creates 3x 20 yards areas.
Just to have mentioned it.

What? Enforcer gives the 90% DR to follower as well? First I've ever heard of this, thanks for the info, this is big.

I was curious about that Scoundrel build. I tried it out.. He died 2 times in GR 140.. and even with the cooldown reduction on skills.. I didn't feel i was going through my GR any faster.. I even put some 150 Intel augs on his gear and his toughness only got up to 582 000 with alot of health regen, resist all and armor. Interesting though.
You're on the same wavelength of thinking as me! I cheat a little with my Savage Frenzy Barb though, since the 2pc Savage set bonus gives crazy toughness (a little less than 50% DR, it seems) to my follower. I'm using the Enchantress with both my Frenzy Barb and AoV Crusader though, so I have to make separate considerations on her gear for each separate character. That's fine, it just makes me want an armory loadout option for followers (it's on my wishlist of QoL improvements that remain to be seen in D3).
Given my comparatively smaller paragon level (1750 right now -- yeah, I'm pretty casual, lol), I'm pushing lower GRs than you Wudi, so the scaling of incoming damage to my follower hasn't been a problem when playing my Barbarian; however, I do sometimes see my follower hit sub-25% HP when using her at the highest levels I can currently push on my Crusader. All he gives the follower is the IAS buff from Laws of Valor, and while that's a substantial and noticeable recovery boost, the hits she takes when I play my Crusader are nearly 2x the size compared to when I'm playing my Barb, so I do see her HP drop to sub-25% HP sometimes, especially when things are particularly chaotic. She's even died every once in a while, but it's less than once per GR, so I haven't spent time (yet) on augmenting her gear for toughness for use with my Crusader. However, as I gain more Paragon levels, this problem will worsen. I hate to run Enforcer on my Crusader just for my follower, so yeah, as I said, I'm gonna go the augment route and see if that makes her solid enough.
The problem is that chaotic circumstances where my follower is at risk of dying usually involve fairly large pulls, ones where occasionally I'll battle some server lag. Obviously, those chaotic large pulls are where I can make some serious progress on a GG map/tileset, and that's where I need my follower alive the most. So yeah, it looks like it's time to add a few level 100 or 115 augments to my follower, just for when I play my Crusader in high GRs.
Glad you made this video, b/c I've gotten some pushback from friends when I've told them how I use the all skills relic instead of the cannot die relic. Now I can just link them this video, and with your clout I think I can change a mind or two :)

Interesting that you selected Power Shot for your Scoundrel's first skill. Most people seem to avoid selecting anything in that row so that the cc from those two skills doesn't trigger diminishing returns on mobs. What's your thinking on selecting a skill there?
I actually wanted the CC especially on the boss. Pulling enemies together in a GR150 is slow paced enough to not suffer too much from the scoundrel's stun imo
If you're ever so inclined, it would be also be interesting to see follower build with Blackthorne's 3pc set bonus, and compare that to this one. Which is better overall?
I don't think that Blackthorne will be particularly useful on a follower. They get a bit of damage reduction and mostly don't take that much damage from ground effects already as far as I'm aware
I'm rolling with the enchantress and cleared 143 without her dying at 955mil toughness. Dex, life per hit, attack speed, vitality are best. I tried rolling flat armor on some of the follower pieces because her all resistance and health pool was already good enough. However, the fact that dex gives her 3x armour wasn't apparent to me at first. I wrecked some pieces by not rolling off the flat armor. I think with further tweaking and augments you would reach 1.2 mil++ toughness on the high end on enchantress and I imagine she could live through 145 to 148 GR without enforcer.
can you do a hardcore one?
500M toughness is usually good enough to survive up to 110's runs, depending on main character buffs. Also Health Globes is really good here as your own share to them, LoH nice as well with AS. W/o Enforcer my Enchantress usually lasts through 115 speeds, then of course immortal with Enforcer but only have 1 build for that.
If you're really desperate you can always quickly augment some 110 level opposite main stat (Armor / Res) stat, usually +1200ish armor / 120ish AR.
2b toughness is the max you can get and it is unkillable not so hard to get either

@wudijo, I was thinking of a build for a follower but does thorns work on followers? There is nothing written in the maxroll guide about thorns affix on followers. Templar with Hack axe, Heart of Iron chest, Demons Hide 2 piece, Guardians Jeopardy for more Vitality, follower can not die relic and lots of Vitality Augment. Around 68 to 69K Vitality. Will this work?
What is the best option for DH's in season 24? Enchantress or Scoundrel and with which relic?

I'm assuming aughilds on follower only benefits them which is is elite damage reduction as main benefit. I was believing it emanates. Nonetheless, good info!
I tested your hireling build suggestion using a Crusader + Enchantress combo. Regrettably it does not work very well. While you can sacrifice a gem slot on your main to give her more resist, with a serious gaming in mind that is not a real option. When playing a crusader, by mid- to upper- GR130s the hireling just starts dying too frequently to be worth the effort. I was able to give the enchantress 83%+ damage reduction, 137,000 life per second and around 100,000 life per hit. Still, that is not enough. She will be fine for a while, then suddenly just gets pummeled into a wet spot. Experimenting with your idea, however, brought up a thought of pushing Blizzard to actually make one of the Tier 1 Hireling skills into some form of functional damage reduction for the hirelings themselves. For Enchantress such would be useful and welcome in particular, as her current Tier 1 skills are actually detrimental, not helpful.
Also, once you equip the "access to all skills" charm, now you have to remake your character from scratch (and all your armory settings) when you realize the build is not viable. The charm does not give you "access" but rather forces a tier one skill to be active and selected even if you never actually select it. That skill is now permanently active even after the Charm is removed/replaced. That, incidentally, is a pathetic, lazy piece of programming by Blizzard that really needs to be corrected once and for all.
Why do so many of the top Diablo streamers say things that are simply NOT true. Like the idea that there are only 2 Legendary Gems that work on followers( Mutilation Guard and Esoteric Alteration ). There are at least 4 that I know of that work 100% and I have not fully tested most of the others yet to know for sure.
Gem of Ease does indeed appear to boost their EXP on a kill, which is rare because chances are you will kill everything but I have tested it and allowed my follower the kill shot and could see the numbers.
Boon of the Hoarder DEFINITELY works on followers. I have allowed my follower the kill shot on enemies and watched as the gold drops. I think the reason ppl do not think it works is because your follower almost NEVER gets a kill shot in the first place.
I have also read that if your follower has Enforcer and you give them a weapon like Skycutter then the summoned pet does indeed gain the 90% damage reduction but I dont know how to test that one myself so it could be wrong.
Gem of Efficacious Toxin does indeed work. Im just not sure if its worth using as the damage is too low to make all that much difference. Try it for yourself, when the enemy is hit it will turn green when poisoned. Low level GR's with a high enough level Gem and you could just stand back and let your follower do all the work lol
Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard I know for a fact used to work because in the old follower stats screen you could see their LPS increase. Since the follower update however this stat no longer appears to change. I always used to put this on my followers along with the damage reduction Gems so I could equip them with the All Skills Relic and it worked like a charm. Now I just dont know for sure which is a shame because if it does I would love to equip a Templar with Deaths Bargain pants and watch him go. Especially since Gem of Efficacious Toxin applies on every hit of Deaths Bargain, its a very fun build.
Mirinae, Teardrop of the Starweaver appears to work because again you can see the smite on the enemies however again the damage is too low to be of any use.
Boyarsky's Chip is a tough one. In the old Follower stat display you could actually see any Thorns damage they had however in the new one you cannot so it is unclear if they actually gain the Thorns anymore.
Wreath of Lightening is one that is currently annoying me. I am 100% certain that it used to work pre the Follower update but recently I tried it and at no point did I see my follower flash with lightening. I just dont know if it didnt proc or if it just does not work anymore.
I believe all these Gems need total testing by somebody far better than me because I just think that nobody has tried in such a long time and the Follower update has changed more than we know.
For builds that DON'T use Enforcer, it's worth to sacrifice a Legendary Gem to get more 100% crit chance from Scoundrel Veil?
absolutely not, but there are some cases to make the follower tanky enough at least for speed farming and potentially even in pushing if you have massive buffs/heals in your build (e.g. frenzy barb has the big shouts to buff their toughness and such)

so whats the damage source of the follower here? just the cloud he casts or are his autoattacks also relevant?
I'll say something that'd be sweet: a follower-only set or gem or such that you could use to give a follower like 10...{lots of zeroes}...00% bonus damage, but reduce your actual heroes damage to nearly nothing. Basically, a "solo zBarb" set. Carried-by-follower isn't going to be a playstyle that works for everyone, but for the right folks, it'd be kinda fun.
Does stone gauntlet work? I'm trying to figure out how to make them survive without the pet gem

No. Cubed items do not benefit the follower.
Enforcer gem holy cow yeah i need this gem didn't realize follower is a "pet"
So I want to gear mine to NOT have unity (Using Lornelle's instead) and have them on say, lots of regen, vitality and just enough intelligence augment or not to reach the 25k cap (my enchantres is close but her gear isn't optimal). I melt 100s (but I'm 2k paragons... all vitality mind you lol) with augments.. and have cleared a 110 in like, 7ish minutes? (I need vitality to fuel blood is power/stay alive through Lornelle's including in group content obviously)
But which set bonuses/legendaries WORK on a follower? I know Disregard, Ice Climbers work, Pox Faulds do, in fact work... (not sure how useful or not that is but it is consistent area dps...)
I get a lot of nuking from her being stuck around those ground effects though as well as fire mobs (my andy helm didn't roll the best but it's the best I've got as every Mempo won't roll IAS, CHC and Intelligence so I can just roll OFF Intelligence...) I DO still want her to CRIT as often as possible.
Heart of Iron and Hack are also a possibility over Azurewrath (or sultan etc.) but I have no way of confirming they work...

Don't try to make followers deal damage, most stuff doesn't work anyway

I was kinda hoping for chc for solarion but I trashed that anyway.
Something like Rogar's Huge Stone (all but forgotten about) seems really interesting too.
Or thorns, since it's not really damage per se.
Or something like Blood Brother + Justice Lantern + Helm of Rule on say, Enchantress. I don't really use Templar and I'm stuck at the point where the extra 9-10% elemental damage (only poison necro) and the extra CDR is handy enough to be able to keep her largely free of any control impairing effect causing items anyway, actually worried about too much cc since my own items proc consistently.

I think the elite damage reduction works but that's it

i'm curious which follower i have to use for FB wiz pushing. if enchantress, will it be similar? leoric+flavor+aughild+nemesis+rorg+oculus+st.archew? crimson (enchantress dont proc CDR, but RCR will help with toughness, right?), thunderfury? or i have to take scoundrel for gr150 push?
Crimson is mostly useful for the 6k life regen. The CDR is for templar ONLY, the RCR effects don't help at all. Other than you are right about everything. Personally I'm using a templar with CDR relic for firebird because it's harsh to get enough recovery otherwise

typically most people just use the immortality relics to keep them alive but without that you can get some great advantages if you make them survive, that's the point (and how to achieve it) in the video

Blizz needs to make more legendaries simply work on followers, including the Executioner.
LIke I can't get my enchantress to survive in GR 100s.
But I don't have the physical damage reduction gem leveled yet and my esoteric is only around 50.
And I have her stacked in as much thorns and as much vitality and regen and life on hit as comprehensible.
I can *roll* things with ALL her abilities up but ugh. I have no room for enforcer, as *I* would die if I cut esoteric, and couldn't do any DPS if I cut stricken.
But I wonder if this would work running enforcer + esoteric + stricken. Hmm.

2b toughness 100k life on hit as much as u can live on kill, all accidents with resist, life%, and armor the 2 legendary defense gems about 3 of the primary stats above 27k, and nothing can kill the follower (not so easy to equip but worth it) sorcerers is insane 10% elemental 10%cooldown cheat death and 10% atck speed

You need to wear enforcer gem. I do 140s on monk and she never dies.
