Love the insight, extremely inspiring! It's been great hearing all the different approaches to the scene, good luck everyone! :)
I submitted my competition entry several days ago and had never watched/listened to the show, in order to not get influenced in any way. Now, this video was fun to watch. Some similarities, some differences for sure. The whole experience of trying to play film composer was fantastic. Seeing Kris Bowers talk about his process is inspiring for sure. I just wish they would have released this clip after the competition deadline.
Great video! Interesting observation made - when Kris shows us the full midi view at 13:25, the colour of the midi notes looks very similar to the opening title screen tree which is in the shot at the same time 😊
I like the touch of Blues and Jazz! Refreshing!
I have no skills in this area but truly inspirational to watch a gifted professional explain his craft with such patience and insight.
This was amazing! Thanks Spitfire and Kris for this video! Inspiring for me, back to composing some more music!
What is particularly interesting, is that this man loves jazz that much that he is able to create music for this serie including some of it...
It's like a musical dna sequence. The variety of creative musical expressions from this event is truly inspiring. It's interesting to hear and see what people invision with each scene. My approach to the score was a bit different for I'd never seen the show but heard of it. Give thanks for sharing the musical insight.🔥🎶🙏🏾🎶🔥
this guy has really a good feeling/groove for the music !
its in the soul
A good wholesome piece of fun. I loved every minute of participating. 😍
Thanks so much for sharing! 🙏😊
Just uploaded my entry after only hearing about the competition two days ago. Never seen the show, heard of it, or listened to any other entries. Very interesting to hear the composer's take, very different to mine.
Good luck, everyone :)
This was wonderful to watch. Great to see the original direction compared to how I approached the sequence. Already submitted my take. Really interesting to hear.
Awesome! I'm curious about watching the show now just for the music hehe
That was super interesting and helpful to see how a professional like Kris scored this scene! I love how much energy and excitement his score adds, the rhythm is really great! I kind of went in a completely different direction. I didn't watch the original or listen to any other entries before composing to not get influenced, but now it is so interesting to see all of the different versions! I guess that is a big part of the fun to see how different music can completely change the feel of the scene. Thank you Spitfire Audio for this great opportunity and good luck everyone! :)
Very interesting! Thank you very much!
Great! Thank you!
Did you spot the vapour trails in the carriage scene? I only saw them after about 20 views whist doing the competition. Hope they weren't in the final version!
Very fun to see. I purposefully didn't seek out Kris' original score before completing mine and it's interesting to see how our different interpretations played out!
Alright...Now I can get my entry together. LOL. Thanks Spitfire Audio!
Awesomeness!!
Thanks for this peek! I'm feeling better about my edition of the score... I'm so glad I didn't watch the show at all first 😀👍Her walking that hallway... that was important... YEP..
Awesome!
It's a great work^
this man is top level. I dare not to send my version now!
Awesome showing us your mockup! Thanks for this.
He is obviously a genius piano player to start with. What DAW is he using .
Logic Pro
Logic, Bro
Excellent thanks spitfire and Kris Bowers
Loved it.. More of such content/ tutorials please
Though i submitted my score 5 days back but while watching this version, I kept my fingers crossed in the entire video just to see if by any chance my score is anywhere close to Kris's score so that i would jump out of joy😃 but no not at all..but this version by Mr. Kris...hands down🙂
Also, it is so amazing to see how our versions can be so different from each others.
What a great lesson on the mastery of Film Scoring. An insight accessible to anyone, from beginners to accomplished. Amazing! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Awesome
My Man!!
What Spitfire String VST is this ? I love it
This shall be very interesting and inspiring and I guess, we'll learn a ton to use for the #MyBridgertonScore comp. Thanks, good folks at Spitfire Audio, always a pleasure!
A brilliant piece of music Kris :)
thank you for sharing
After I heard your composition and the ones which you chose to win the competition, I cannot think but you chose the ones who modeled their entries after your work. I don’t know if it was a subconscious choice, but we tend to gravitate toward our own taste. Despite the great work of the five winners, the similarities of their work ton yours leave me wondering.
Wonder if Kris is entering the scoring competition? he probably needs a couple of Spitfire VSTs....
Definitely want to see more of this especially for other scenes throughout season 1
Good!
Man... if he can do it, I surely could do it too! 😅Let's do this! 😎
I have a question for you Chris. Was your own taste a factor in choosing the winners? I can see similarities there between what you did and their entries. I red the scenes in different ways and emotions. In would love to hear your response.
Anyone know what audio interface that is on the desk? Thanks!
Mackie Big Knob Studio+. It functions as both a monitor controller and a USB interface. I had one, and I wouldn’t recommend it. Mackie stuff is well-designed junk. It’s great when you first get it, but develops problems with only a few months of regular use, and dies soon after. It’s a better investment to spend double the money on something that you’ll use for 5+ years. See reviews on Sweetwater or the like for confirmation.
This is brillliant
he seems like a good bloke and knows his craft. thanks for the upload.
This is fab
Thanks Kris and Spitfire! Can't wait to see everyone's entries!
Thank you for your guidance, also I must say... I absolutely love your template, its amazing!
You must get lost in a dream world with all that choice! ❤️
This was fantastic and an inspiration. I wrote my score and now I realised I really made a total bollox of it and will start again.
Love the breakdown. I studied the original score on episode 5 before this video came out, and it's awesome to see where my instincts were on or off.
Did he really score the entire project with plugins or did he use a live orchestra?
Listen @3:15 again for the answer.
Once again, Thank you Kris and Spitfire Audio. Btw. I didn't manage to answer in time about the themes. The first one is for the Queen, with a slight change for the main character; the second is for the end and the conspiracy part, if that makes sense.
That 0.002 on the tempo seems very important
The difference between 124 and 124.0002 is about 1 frame of 30 fps over the course of the piece’s 188 beats. So, it’s plausible that the adjustment was made to get an exact hit at the end. But since 1 frame is usually negligible in terms of human perception of the timing of music to film, it’s more likely an artifact of composing the first draft at 120 and then time compressing while dragging the last beat to the final frame. Or it could be an artifact of using Logic’s smart tempo feature.
Hey Kris, does an orchestra record this after you write it?
In general for bigger productions the answer is yes (although I am far from an insider!)

Christian did nothing wrong!
