PART 1 *IN CAB* FENDT 1050 Ploughing headlands KVERNELAND RW100

  • This is just one way i plough my headlands using a plough of this size.
    There is a lot of planning and forward thinking involved when ploughing with any size of plough, and with one this size there are more aspects to take into account to make sure you are still achieving the same result as its smaller counter parts.
    covering huge acres means nothing unless the plough is still doing the job it was intended for.

    Good explanation of setting up the field, when you drive the car you hold the steering wheel the same as a tractor. After thirty years away from tractors I do the same.

Round here we gather the headland in or chuck them out. Thanks Geoff! It's not always easy with a gret thing like that hanging off the back or your linkage lol I've got 4 different methods of ploughing headlands with it, whether I'm ploughing in or out, when the little ploughs have been out and about the previous year it gets Interesting making sure I don't follow them when it's my turn to get the field blacked over lol
      Really look forward to your video! I'll make sure I share it once you've done it, I'll give it a shout-out on one of my vids so people can see what it's really like using your eyes only! Proper job! 😀

    Cant you use the tractors headland management to set a line and lift the plow when you cross it instead of marking with the plow ?

    • @Jonny1388
      @Jonny1388  Před 4 lety +3

      It's not really a headland management setting, it's a GPS boundary, you can have an inner and outer boundary on certain systems. So yes you can have a line on screen a set distance from the outside of the field, it's more for implements like a drill with auto shut off and section control.
      When it comes to ploughing I find i you cannot beat your own eyes, as will most people who do the job.
      With a plough like mine you have 3 different lifts to do. Rear linkage, axel, and rear section you can't just lift it out in one go or your ins and outs on the headland would be huge, having a visual mark to gauge when each section needs to be lifted cannot really be replaced by a mark on a screen as the screen will not show your whole plough, it will only show the length of it, not sections.
      So I only really use that function with implements that are designed to use it, like seed drills.

    How come you’ve cultivated the field before ploughing. Would have thought that plough would deal with long stubble

    • @Jonny1388
      @Jonny1388  Před 4 lety +1

      It does deal with long stubble well having the 100cm point to point clearance. The field has been sub soiled prior to ploughing to remove any pans, as this land has now been drilled with a 2 year fertility building ley.

    A little paddling is not the end of the world, especially for a semi-mounted plough, you have to do a lot more maneuvering with semi-mounted ploughs. Sure people can do it without paddling but the time and effort just for no paddling at all I think is just a little unnecessary. Good job none the less.

    • @Jonny1388
      @Jonny1388  Před 4 lety +1

      No it takes it completely in its stride Will, when I'm ploughing some of our strong Nottinghamshire red clay it will bark and complain a bit when the going gets really tough. It would easily cope with a bigger plough, but logistically we couldn't have anything much bigger due to accessing land, there are areas on the farm you just couldn't access with something bigger.
