Yesterday, I experienced an issue while replacing the thermostat in a Trane package heat pump unit. Despite having good wiring and programming, the system continued to blow hot air whenever it turned on, regardless of how I set the thermostat. The only anomaly I noticed was that the Trane RTRM board lacked an 'O/B' terminal, instead having a 'W/O' terminal, where I connected my 'O' wire. However, the system persisted in running on heat mode instead of cool mode. I am still investigating the cause of this issue.
I going home and try it now. I was install the thermostat from the old house (heatpump) to the new house gas/electric. I set it to heat , but it keep blowing cool air and pipe start frozen. I watch a lot of video to check my wiring (my wiring is correct), now I know what I did wrong. :)
Yes that is high(est) on the list of what I see, but very close are two others. 1) for heat pumps - the W wire is normally used for RVS due to just lack of orange, right? They put that in the W connection for Heating call. Instead of the O/B term. And 2) less often now as newer Thermostats Jump internally Y to W for heat pumps. Just the other day, someone had the opposite of what you saw here. They had settings set for Heat Pump for a gas pack so both the compressor (cooling) and gas heat came on at the same time! Nice video/tip!
Im having similar issue. Im trying to turn the AC on. I set it to cool, and 70. And still hours later then inside temp shows as 82-85. Its hot inside. This is a brand new house build. Hvac is brand new. Its gotta be the setting.....i hope
I have the same problem. After trying to fix it, Now I have a 125 on the top and cannot adjust the AC lower. It went up to 72 and I can’t make it any cooler. Any suggestions anyone??
I bought a whole A/C unit back in February 2019, And yesterday was my first time seeing the battery needed to be changed. I always keep it on 78 degrees but while doing a lot of cooking I noticed it was getting hot this was at 4:30pm I went to check the thermostat and it was at 87 degrees and showing battery needed to be change, which I didn't know how to change it. And the A/C had stopped working it was 90 degrees before I went to bed. So right now it showing that's it 87 degrees with the battery icon still on and the A/C still haven't kick on. So when the battery isn't working do this means my A/C want work, until the battery is replaced with new ones?
if your thermostat is battery powered only, and doesn't have a common wire going to the ac, then yes it will stop working until the batteries are replaced
Everyone is thanking this video (me too) for fixing the hotair issue. But no one is saying FU to Honeywell for making Conventional forced air as default and not telling us about it. So a big FU Honeywell 🖕
Having that O/B setting backwards on the Tstat for a heat pump will blow cold air when set to "Heat" and hot air when set to "Cool". I learned this the hard way!🙃
Why does my old slide style mercury stat control my heat/cool just fine. But when I switch to t4 stat the fan runs all the time. (And yes it’s on auto).
The most common mistake I see Is when the custy blows the fuse on the unit because they turn off the AC breaker only & not the air handler breaker on a split system
I set my thermostat to 67 degrees for cooling, but it's displaying 87 degrees and still blowing hot air, raising the temperature to 90 degrees. I woke up at 1:30 am to check, and it's now 4:12 am, and I'm frustrated trying to get it to cool down. I ended up turning this crap off.
I have a similar issue but the other way around, my thermostat is programmed to heat to 72F but temp goes as low as 65 and shit does not blow a fart to warm up the house 😢

Great job!
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!! you’re a lifesaver with this video
Glad it helped!
Can you make a video for the other types of heating system like conventional forced air? This video would have been helpful it I had a heat pump.

very true I have seen those scenarios also!
DUDE!!! ALL THE VIDEOS AND YOURS WAS THE RIGHT ONE. I DID IT AND IT TURNED RIGHT ON. THANKS A MILLION
You're welcome!
I have baseboard heat vents what do i set this thing to?
You saved my life!!

@@Hashimotosondid you ever find a fix? Dealing with this right now
@@epicwhaleburger Yes, it wasn't my thermostat. My drain pipe and safety pipe were put in the wrong spots
what happens when I see a "!" on the screen and the ISU doesn't re-set the devise? I can't get into PROG mode...any ideas?
the temperature in my house is at 93-92 nd I can’t change it so what should I do
This video is changing my life as we….. type bruhhh
glad I could help!

Thanks. I fixed the issue created by a "contractor"
You bet!

lol I think it's because most people own a conventional system across the us
Thank you again @@themoderntradesmen9352
I just want to add too that sometimes the number of stages for the furnace isn’t set up correctly on the thermostat.
good info 👍🏽

sounds like an issue on the honeywell set up portion

that's good to know 😌
When I turn my air on it blows out hot air just moved into my unit brand new place
I'm having this issue too. My temp doesn't seem to change. It's 80 in my apartment when I have it set on 68 cool. I don't understand!
