My favorite songs from Slovakia are at first place-Horehronie; at second- Modlitba(but the pronunciation of the name of the song is difficult and unusual to have that number of consonants leters !!Its more easy to say Molitva as in Serbian winning song 2007!!!
The biggest Slovakia stan here! So glad to see many people acknowledging Slovakia's quality over the years :) Still pushing for their return years after their last participation
its a shame you guys do not understand words of some of these songs, cos some of them are just really sending shivers down the spine if you understood what they are saying.
Horehronie was much better than most of the songs that actually made it for the final on that year, which was the weakest ESC of this century, just by having Satellite as the winner says a lot
Funny how the the majority of mainstream music in Slovakia is so lame but then you go to a small concert in a bar to see an artist you've never heard of and its thousand times better than what you hear in the radio. That's why Slovakia will hardly ever qualify imho.
I like "Kým nás máš" but I kinda understand why it didn't click with some of the reactors here. The original cut of the song was longer by a minute and 15 seconds. The Eurovision version rudely cut the momentum the song was building on short hence it felt flat towards the end. In the original longer version, there was an epic guitar leading to a flourishing final climactic chorus and ends with a classic fadeout. And I think Marcel's voice cracked in his live performance during the night (which likely meant nothing results-wise as juries would have already voted for their favorites from the night before).
The thing with Slovakia is that they don't participate because Slovakian viewers showing almost no interest. Well, duh. Of course people loose interest if the songs don't do well. They should try again and maybe they will do well. Take a look at the Czech Republic, for example. :-)
Don't take a look at Czech Republic. There's no Czech Republic at ESC. There are CR imposters at ESC, but Czech Republic quit ESC after 2007. Slovakia doesn't want to be just like everyone else (that's how Czech Republic is not on ESC for me, they lost their own identity really quickly). Especially now, when they praise folk on their national TV.
Miceal might be right about TWiiNS' song being not finished properly. The rumor was that Slovakia wanted to quit ESC after 2010 contest but for some weird reason they forgot to officially announce their withdrawal. They had to think quickly... and that's what they got... Kristína's friends (one of twins in late 00's used to live with Kristína because they had the same producer at that time and Kristína provided back vocals to some songs from their 2009 album Compromise).
I like all entries in Slovak... And I doesn't enjoy songs in English... Slovakia was a great country at ESC for me until their entry to 2011 contest...
Miceal said truth about Nela. She can go high... but she definitely shouldn't do that. For a musical actor she's not a great singer... Katarína Hasprová is a better singer for a music actor.
Uhm... now I totally understand why we never got anywhere near winning... there are so many great artists in Slovakia, but they don't seem to make it to EV... who picks them for this competition, and who is in charge of the song production..? Even good and establish artists' entries sound forced, over-styled and washed out, just a lot of screeching... Maybe it is for the better that Slovakia does not compete any more, less embarrassment for the country.
How embarrassing, I mistook Slovakia for Slovenia, again...and was wondering what happens since Lea Sirk and ZalaGasper were quite successful in 18 & 19....
*WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ENTRY FROM SLOVAKIA 🇸🇰?*
Definitely Horehronie. In my country (Czech Republic) it's still play in radio sometimes.
2010

1994
Horehronie, is one of my favourites.
Just not I'm Still Alive in 2011, repetitive chorus and its just... Dull.
Horehronie was a huge robbery 😩🙈
"just because you can, doesn't mean you should".
Very prophetic and true words there, Miceal.
My favorite entry was Horen Hronie....Love from Turkey...🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
It's Horehronie.

2011 was weaker to me.
@@sav0001 both of those years. Then 2012 was excellent or the best for me (the one Euphoria won)
2009 is the only ESC in which both Czech Republic and Slovakia participated

I wish we came back. 😭
2010 and 2011 are so underrated
i wish that every country sing in their native language.

you know what is even funnier? that those 2 girls called twiins actually bought the entry to eurovision :D
Joan... Slovakia's best placing is 18th place in the Final in 1996. TWiiNS have the best placing for Slovakia in semifinal era.

06: Nekovecná Piesen [1994]
05: Modlitba [1998]
04: Kým nás máš [1996]
1-2010
2-1996
3-1994
4-1998
5-2012
6-2011
7-2009
Unpopular opinion but 2009 is my favourite Slovak entry
I know some people who also like Leť tmou over all other Slovak entries.
Slovakia here ✌🏻

From what I remember the 2012 Slovakian entry was funded by him. They were originally going to withdraw. Hence the sudden change in genre

...But I am from Slovakia
sorry but imo 2010 is overhyped, i definitely prefer 2011
2010 is still underhyped. Only 20 million views on official music video... like... it's nothing.
