I love this scene because he mentions how Estella’s background is bad because of “breeding”. Little does he know that’s her mother he’s talking to right there
The entire movie was a lovely reminder that art is subjective. I swear I see "dot of ink" sold for 5 million but then beautiful landscapes are only $200 a piece. 😂❤
I think it was purposely done like that, it’s almost like the fictional character doesn’t talk like that in their fictional world but is doing it to impress her by acting high class
Because her mom is a narcissist sociopath ... She probably would not have any sense of having a daughter... Rather a useful idiot tool. Cruella used that to her advantage.....
I think people seem to forget that these stories aren’t to make you side with the villain or root for them. It’s to help us understand the complexity of villains and their motives. NO ONE is truly born evil at all. It is how we respond to trauma and wrongdoings against us that determine whether or not we become evil. Also HURTING PEOPLE who have hurt you and seeking revenge makes you just as bad as the person who hurt you !!! There is nothing anti heroic about killing or destroying the person who hurt you. THAT IS EVIL. Especially if you don’t stop at any means to exact that revenge. Including hurting innocent people around you and tied to the situation. If you truly believe that revenge is justice, and/or heroic it is NOT. You are going down an evil path.
What does ‘Breeding’ mean in this context..? Sorry, English is not my first language… All I know about ‘Breeding’ is like, breeding dogs or cats or something…
In this case, they're referring to her bloodline and where she comes from. The salesman is saying she comes from a poor background and therefore is acting bad.
In England there was a lot of emphasis placed on your bloodline for a long time because it indicated what class you belonged to, or your social status. When he's talking about breeding, he's saying she is a lower person because she was ill bred, or has bad parentage, or unestablished parentage (doesn't know who one or another parent is). Upper class people in Great Britain also tend to interact with cultural touchstones like breeding horses or dogs for sporting purposes, so the language probably translates related to that cultural influence.
An offensive way of saying low born, peasent or common. He's basically saying that she was given a chance but failed because she didn't belong to the upper class of society.
The fellow looking in the window is a favorite performer of mine. He starred in Clint Eastwoods film, Richard Jewell. Paul Walter Houser. He's also in the film about Tanya Harding, I Tanya, as a clueless accomplice. He hilarious in it. Big fan.

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie and the big narrative shift of her actually be the ‘good’ person vs the usual cruella being full evil was a refreshing take! Also the dalmatians in this are kinda terrifying when they go full attack mode 😅
This is by far my fav Emma Stone movie. I want to say thank Disney for actually making a remake better than the original, but I believe Emma was the success in this one.

@@nunyabiznes33me neither. It’s almost like parallel dimensions of the same character. One is a sympathetic anarchist, the other is straight evil.
It's probably also because this was telling a somewhat new story and not just a recreation of what we've already seen multiple times before
Ironic that he mentioned "breeding" considering one of the plot twists. Lol
