Because we had too much fun with our run of Cannon movies, I decided to torture Brian and Dave with Glenn Danzig's insane VEROTIKA. They were less than pleased with me. When this movie premiered in Chicago, the crowd was howling with laughter, and afterward, Glenn Danzig was like, 'I dunno what they were laughing at.' 😂

Glenn's friendship with Henry Rollins (at least once upon a time) has always fascinated me, because Danzig is like Bizarro Rollins. Especially with regard to taking himself seriously.

I liked this pos a lot. Rough segment with Drukija but the girl "chained" to the wall made me giggle(all they had to do was to crop the shot!) and the bad actress speaking to a wolf that just f off as soon as he could.😅

Dude I laughed so hard at this episode. The lines from this movie is phenomenal. I love how Jason has a sneaky laugh knowing how awful this is. Brian shows once again how quick and funny he can be. Dave was so annoyed during this episode jesus lol

For a movie that was "supposedly" made on a budget of $1m, it reeks of how cheap it is and Danzig's lack of directing skills really hurt it.

I genuinely love Danzig’s early music, he was a hell of a musician back in the day but he’s a lot like Steven Seagal in that he would be absolutely hilarious if he didn’t take himself so damn serious.

Interesting fact about Danzig. Many Many years ago I was working at a gig venue when Danzig was playing. I was a huge misfits (still am) and Danzig fan. I was so excited to meet Danzig.
In the end he turned out to be one of the biggest pre maddona's I've ever had the pleasure to deal with. The gig venue was only around 800 capacity. Anyway, Danzig made the rest of his band.and the 2 supporting venues use a broom cupboard to get ready for their sets whilst he had the main dressing room all to himself, which was big enough for 2 bands to easily use. I've never been so disappointed in meeting someone until I met Danzig.
At the same gig I witness a 30+ year old dude punch 13 year old looking kid in the face when Danzigs drummer threw a signed drum skin into the crowd.

That is what friends are for after all! This reminds me so much of when my friends and I would sit through dozens of movies together in the 80's/90's. Danzig is truly the Steven Seagal of the music world. One or two good albums and then WTF for the rest of his career. Anyone mention the time a support act knocked Danzig out for messing with them?

This episode was great! Perfect movie for you three, though a little difficult for CZcams perhaps given how little of the film is appropriate for the platform.
To give some context, Danzig is a huge comic nerd, and has been invovled in comic publishing since the mid 1990s, with his company Verotik. The tentpole title over the years (they only periodically publish) has been a horror anthology called Verotika, which is infamous for getting at least one comic shop owner brought up on obscenity charges for stocking it. The writing of the comics is, like this movie, hammy and over the top. They're basically just a vehicle for ultra-gore, dick monsters, demon sex, all sorts of fun poor taste stuff like that. The artists he's gotten have been top-notch though. Frank Frazetta worked with him extensively before his death. Simon Bisley, Liam Sharp, Eric Canente, and many other excellent artists have turned in pages for Verotik. Word is he pays better than just about any other publisher in comics. If you like Heavy Metal (the magazine) style comics, Verotik books can be a lot of fun, otherwise avoid. They are marginally more competent than this film, and amusing in their extreme excess.
That said, the stories in the movie are based on the following comics: The first story is based on a 2 issue mini-series called Albino Spider of Dajette. Written by Danzig, with art by Eric Canente. The second story was serialized in the 2009 relaunch of Verotika, called Verotika Returns, and the final tale was based on a graphic novel Danizg released in 2007 with Simon Bisley on art duties called Drukija - Contessa of Blood.

@@megatronjenkins2473 I honestly like them quite a bit, the art is great... be aware you are going to read some extremely fucked up stories though. I would recommend tracking down single issues of Verotika to begin with. There are some characters who got either mini-series or standalone comics, including Jaguar God and Death Dealer, based on Frank Frazetta characters, and Danzig's Satanika and Venus Domina. Satanika is my favorite of the ongoing comics, it was like a more extreme version of Go Nagai's Devilman (which Verotik also published 3 issues of, the first western publisher to translate any of the original manga). Satanika even got an anime... trailer. It was a pitch for a movie or OVA that Danzig was trying to get made in the 90s. It was sold on VHS to build hype and try to attract financing... like all things Verotik though it was really too extreme for anyone to want to bet on it financially. You can find the 2-3 minute clip, complete with Satanika theme song here on CZcams I think. It was only ever on VHS though so the quality will be shit. But I think the demon fingering and anime titties will still be clear enough.

I know that a few weeks ago, I recommended Cyborg with Jean Claude Van Damme but I thought of a much better one for the show. It's called Hard Target which also stars Van Damme and it's about an elite class of people hunting the homeless. I think you guys would love it, that is of course if you guys haven't already seen it lol. Cheers guys!

Hard Target is pretty good! It has Lance Henriksen (not acting for food yet), Arnold Vosloo (Darkman 2 and 3, Mummy with Frazer) and John Woo is director here.

The a horror movie premier, the audience found the movie funny with lots of laughter in the crowd. Danzig was not happy about that. Some critics said that this was the best accidental horror/comedy of the year.

Danzig has done a number of ego pet projects over the years. Verotika was also the name of comic book line he did for a while. The important thing to remember is he tries to create stuff that he likes, but doesn't know anything but the surface level interpretation of the material. His comic book line he paid a lot of really top notch artists like Frank Frazetta to do art for them, which honestly they looked amazing, but there was 0 effort to do good writing or tell a story. That is pretty much what he tried to do here. Make shocking and "sexy" images and dialog I am sure he thought was "cool" but do nothing to write a good narrative.
That sums up my experience with this.
Verotika was a Comic book started by Danzig because he felt that superman and other superheroes who wore tights were childish and unrealistic. He wanted to make something mature, gritty and visceral.
Eyyy good way to start the day. Drinking my tea, smoking a bowl and watching this.

An Olympic gymnast gets recruited by the U.S. govt to compete in some death race in a fictional country Called Parmistan. Winner gets one wish granted from the king of Parmistan so the govt wants him to win and ask to set up a nuclear missile base to point at Russia (its an 80's flick with 80's logic).
