The 2x4 song! Priceless.
Bravo man, /Clap for that was amazing. I'd never in a MILLION years imagine a guitar coming from a 2x4 but there it is. Great job!
Thanks! Me either, but was surprised at how well it turned out.
Rockin' project and awesome video!
Top hole!
Thanks John. Now I want to make one with higher quality woods.
Steve, man that is just awesome!!! You Rock Bro! Your 2x4 projects amaze me every single time!!! Great Job!
Hey Laney! Thanks! Good to hear from you. Hope all is well in Ocala!
Now we know where fender got their acoustasonic idea from. Brilliant build, I keep coming back to this video.
Mighty fine work, Steve! What a great video - excellent shots and editing on the various steps and great audio work. Thanks for making people feel good by showing how you built this guitar!
Yeah, some guys would have turned this into an hour-long excursion, but the editing was brilliant. There was enough that we understood each step, and then it was on to the next one.
Great job (on the guitar too)!
Wow! I must have gotten a bum 2x4, mine did not have a guitar in it!
lol, I didn' t know mine had one in it either. Can't believe it actually works. I could put popcorn in it. LOL Good luck with the contest.
So cool! Good job on the video too. Looks like you shot a lot of clips!
Thanks Jay! Yes, I had tons of footage to go through. It was a challenge to get it under 10 minutes.
Very nice work Steve. If nothing else, you're by far the cheeriest woodworker on the youtubes!
Thanks! :o)
Great job Steve! Your quite a guy... I always get a kick out of watching you work. Keep up the great job.
You sir are scary talented. You are what I imagine happens when children grow up still believing all things are possible. Your videos are full of childlike enthusiasm, imagination, and pride. It really is quite refreshing and a pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing.
Take a bow, today you have won the internet. (And with any luck, a 2X4 trophy!) Cheers!
Wow, thanks! This is my hobby and I like to keep it fun. I purposely avoid doing things that make it feel like work, to kind of protect it in a sense and keep it open ended and open minded and limitless. Thanks for noticing that. Thank you for watching and for the kind comments.
You just blew my mind. Simply amazing.
Great video! The one thing I can always count on from Steve Carmichael, is FUN! Thanks, Steve, for the smile you put on my face ! Good luck with the competition. THUMBS UP !!!
Cool! Thanks Rudy! Glad I could make you smile! :o) Have a great day! I ended up winning so that was a totally awesome experience. The whole contest was just a great thing overall no matter who won.
That was great!! Your gifted friend just plain gifted plus the guitar sounds great too
I love this guitar! It’s very creative and it’s well designed. I really like the paint job too!
Simply amazing! You definitely raised the bar for the contest! Well done
Thank you
So far this is the BEST 2x4 project! Well done!
: 0 Steve, you are so amazing! Very cool build and great job on the video.
Aww shux, thanks April! Good luck in the contest. It's really taken off this year.
Wow! Fantastic Steve, you've outdone yourself. Love the song :)
Thanks Carl! Ugh, I can't watch the song. lol
Loved your tele came out awesome! The way you made the body is pretty unique, cool! Thanks for sharing this!
Scrap wood City Thanks! I was afraid of not having enough wood, but looking back it was actually a good way to do it anyway.
Sounds perfectly in tune too.
That is just too cool! Well done!
Legendary. A deserved winner.
Fantastic job Steve. Looks great and sounds good too.
Thank you very much.
Love your enthusiasm! Thanks for uploading your video!
Incredible!! Truly enjoyed watching this vid
So....lemme get this straight....skilled carpenter, luthier, designer, film maker, composer, singer, guitarist, drummer.....and a day job too? Is there any time left in your schedule to sit and have a beer? If so, do it. You deserve it. Great job Steve.
Excellent! I've been to Atlanta so I know how hot it gets--amazing it stays sound!
Best one so far Steve. I love the song too.
Thank you for taking the time to share.
Good Luck.
Thanks! Probably the last time I will ever sing again. lol
You went the extra mile! Awesome as always.
Loved the idea of the bucket.
Thanks! Yes, I knew I had to conserve material so it helped me keep an eye on what I had left, so I just made it part of the video.
Outstanding job Steve, i think you have a good shot at winning it again, good luck!
Thanks Dana!
Oh wow, you look so happy! Nice guitar and that Buck Owens paint looks just great :D
Beautiful!!
The future is here! I love youtube for gems like this! Thank you for posting and coming up with this awesome idea!
Thanks! Yeah, you can find how to do anything on youtube.
I gotta say that of all the homebuild videos I've watched that was by far the most interesting, entertaining and creative, and obviously unique that I've seen. I would never have previously even conceived the possibility that a working acoustic guitar could be fashioned from a single 2x4...my hat's off to ya man!...
Thanks! It still works fine too and stays in tune. I was surprised myself.
That came out so well. Magnificent job Steve. I'd never have even thought of a guitar as a possibility. Just awesome. Great video to go with it too.
Thanks Alistair! I didn't know if it would even work or if I would have enough wood, but just kept going.
Fantastic job Steve, congratulations!
Thanks Ivan
Extremely creative and extraordinary craftsmanship, well done sir.
You make the best woodworking videos!. I favorited all of them for future viewing. Keep em coming!
So cool! I love Fender Teles! You did an amazing job.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Greg! I used to have a couple real ones but sold them. Wish I still had them though.
Absolutely amazing once again! You're attitude and disposition is always contagious! Thanks for sharing! I haven't seen them all but your entry is my favorite thus far! Good luck!
Thanks Chuck! I need to catch up on the other entries too. The late nights in the shop working on this thing have cut into my nightly youtube ww video viewing.
Congrats on winning the competition! Really enjoy your vids.
Thank you so much!
Steve this is great! You win!
Thanks David! I think you should be the guest judge. he he. I can't wait to see guitars that you would make. I picture them having features of your bandsaw boxes. The woodworking part is pretty straight-forward. The precise measuring of frets and lining up the strings, string height, bridge, etc is kind of tedious. Building this one makes me wonder why I kept putting it off for so long, but it's completely do-able.
Steve that is amazing. How can this not be a winner? Well done!
Thanks Douglas! There are lots of great entries and more to come I bet. Hard to tell.
Amazing! Great work!
Amazing! I think you really knocked it out of the ballpark Steve. Looks beautiful. Good luck with the contest. Loved the song at the end too! -Kevin
Thanks! I'm not much of a singer, so I almost didn't include that part. Kind of embarrassing. lol
That was fun to watch, thanks Steve.
Thanks!
Wow...excellent job. Now I've got visions of an entire 2x4 orchestra.
Ooh, maybe next year I could do a bass guitar.
Always smiling! Love it! I've played and built guitars and many other instruments my whole life, but NEVER have I seen a full sized, acoustic telecaster with nylon strings. And all from a 2 x 4! Definitely doing this for my next project!
+Ridge Woods Thanks!!! It was a fun project, but challenging. I think the key was picking the best section for the neck. It's still straight and plays fine as the day I finished it. If you make one I would love to see a picture of it.
Steve Carmichael Of course! I'm pretty stoked to start on it! Thanks for the video!
That's really impressive Steve. Great job, best wishes on the contest
Thank you very much!
Wow, that's cool! Keep on rockin'!
Thanks, I sure will do that!
Unreal, nicely done Steve.
Thanks Brian!
Steve, I want it! haha Great job! So clever! Big fan of the show. Thanks for the inspiration.
excellent work, GREAT JOB!
Nice job! Amazing what can be done with one 2x4!👍😎🎸🎶
Your a smart man. That was jaw dropping. That was awesome. Thanks. Bob.
Thank you Bob. Not sure I knew your real name till now MrSkeeter, will have to remember it now.
Great project Steve! And congratulations on winning the contest!
Thanks Daniel
SWEAT!! Love the paint job Steve Carmichael. HeHaw was a great family show, and you song at the end did Buck and the entire gang proud.
LOL, ugh, I can't watch the song at the end. I wish I could sing. he he Sweat is right...it was real hot in the garage this week.
That is awesome! Great job Steve!
Thanks so much. I'm really happy with how it turned out for my first guitar.
Oh, I have watched your videos before I had an account. This was one of my favorites! Now I can subscribe and get updates.
Hey, thanks!
Wow, I was quite impressed with this piece. Great job, and I enjoyed the detailed step-by-step process.
Thank you! It was fun to make.
That is awesome!! Best entry I've seen so far.

Excellent video Steve...the guitar turned out really great!
Thank you Dave. Yes, I was quite surprised that it worked.
What a great build! Nice job.
Congrats on 2 in a row! Well done and dwell deserved!
Thank you very much!
I'm always impressed with your ability to think outside the (sound!) box with these 2x4 projects Steve. Awesome job!
Speaking as an (very) amateur ukulele builder, I am blown away with how this came out! I once made a uke out of a pallet, but this goes to the next level!
Good luck with the contest.
Thanks Pete. I watched a lot of uke build videos. I almost did that, but I had the tele templates for years and thought I should use them at least once. Will make another someday with better woods.
Holy cow!! amazing! great job!
Your positive attitude is what makes you a great builder and teacher
Thanks Scott! I like to encourage people to try making stuff.
Wow what a great project Steve!!!! Thanks for sharing with us! W
Walt G Thanks Walt!

Greg McKnight Thanks Greg. Once I simplified it down to the basics, it was not as daunting.
you win! all the other entries don't stand a chance. you're so creative and awesome. keep it up. I really appreciate your videos.
Aw, thanks Franciso, but there are lots of good entries this year and still a week left. I'm just happy I was able to finally make a working guitar.
Amazing work Steve. I think I was smiling the entire video. I think you just won again. So, to date, that is a working box fan, the world's longest bandsaw box, and a friggin' GUITAR out of 2x4s! Keep it up!
Thanks David! Glad you got a smile out of it. I'm all about having fun with these things.
There is just one word to describe "You" and that is Awesome! Such a really great creative project.
Thanks! This is my hobby so I like to have fun with it and contests like this keep me excited about trying new things.
Awesome job. Your creativity is amazing.
Thanks Darren!
That is insanely creative. You deserve the win for sure.
miteeoak Thank you!
Wow, Amazing work man!!. Thanks for sharing this vid.
Thank you very much!
Fantastic! I want one. Great job Steve.
Ha ha, thanks, not sure I want to do another 2x4 one. I will do one out of better wood sometime though.
This is fantastic! My son and I watched it together and loved it!
+Carl Armbruster Thank you Carl! Glad y'all liked it.
Wow. You just became my hero. This is the coolest video I have seen in a long time. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
Mark.
LOL, thanks Mark! You need to look for a better hero. he he
great song, great idea! good luck in the comp
Thank you Paul
Steve, That was a fantastic job. I am an amateur wood worker weekend-warrior and a guitar player, and that was brilliant.
That's impressive!!! Great job Steve!!
Thanks Joe!
You did a fantastic job on this telecaster, this video is very inspiring and makes me want to build an acoustic tele to add to my telecaster collection.
Thank you Stephen! Go for it! The great thing about using a 2x4 is you can just try again if you screw it up.
Amazing build Steve! Great job!
Thanks Tim! This was something I wanted to do for a long time. Now I wonder why I waited so long.
Stunning stuff Steve. Great job mate.
Take care
Mike
Thanks Mike
That was awesome!
Awesome Steve !
Thank you Joy!
Wow Steve... Just wow. Amazing idea, turned out great! Atb Ryan
Thanks Ryan
Congrats Steve you deserve the win (again) You always go above and beyond.
Thanks Mike! This was a fun project and something I always wanted to make.
Hey guy ! Nice build! I thought I was alone in my desire to own a Buck Owens Tele , way back when. Very interesting and entertaining video, hit subscribed ! Now I am going to be haunting the home improvement centers to build my "electric-stick" 2×4 guitar. Gotta love it!
Carmike, thanks for your infectious smile and for not taking yourself too seriously. Refreshingly fun video to enjoy, and I found myself smiling the entire time. Oh, nice guitar build too!!! I may have to get the kiddo out in the garage and give a go at it myself. Thanks again. Cheers!
Jonathan Garner Wow, thanks for the nice message Jonathan. Woodworking is my fun time so I like to have fun doing it. I was really surprised at how easy the guitar was. You really don't even need templates, just some of the basic dimensions I mentioned in the video.
That was one of the more fun and entertaining video I've seen! Nicely done! Winner! Take anything from the top shelf!! ;)
woodstoney Thank you very much. Love the top shelf stuff.
I can't imagine anyone else winning the Summer 2 x 4 contest. What a fantastic project !!! Congrats in advance for winning the contest.
Thanks Michael! You must have ESP. lol
That is so cool !!! Clear winner from what I've seen so far..............
Thanks, there are lots of good entries and still a week left for more. Not sure how the judges will like it so will see. I'm already pleased to complete a project I've always wanted to try.
I can't believe that almost everything was made with the same piece of wood! Looks great too.
Using cotter pins as frets was a pretty nice touch :D
Great video. Awesome work too!
Thank you Jason!
This is awesome Steve!
Thanks, I appreciate it.
