I have a classmate who is from Iran and I have always wanted to be friends with her. We became friends and always talk to each other in Arabic. The problem was she didn't know Arabic well and sometimes it could be difficult for the both of us to communicate with each other. So I have decided that I will learn farsi in order to help her learn Arabic and I find these kind of videos a good start for learning a new language. farsi language s like a strong magnet pulls anything comes on it's way and that's how I feel farsi is a sweet loving مقناطیسی language it's pulling me towards this loving sweet aroma of language.

Reza, Persian is the most beautiful language among all the languages of the world.. The poetic rhythm and the phonetics of this language is just devine. As an urdu speaker i understand Persian about 30% and i wish that i could learn more and speak it fluently.

@Pray Hope what organization is that through. I heard about one a little earlier this year when I was doing a little research on teaching English abroad. It was online and students would help each other in their own respective languages.
@Pray Hope Gotcha! What a great way to learn another language and meet awesome new people from around the world. We tend to be a little too secluded over here and do not have those wonderful opportunities to meet others and develop friendships abroad. Another really amazing thing to me is that we all learn pretty quickly that we are not our respective governments and find many commonalities, which is great for us! So, how do I get involved?

Farsi is such a beautiful language and I would really like to be able to converse with her friends and family. It would be a shame to marry into such a graceful culture and not be able to participate!

Fun fact: In Greece, speaking about the language, one would use the term equivalent to "persian", that is "persiká/ περσικά", because not so many know that the term "farsi" is a synonym, as it is widely used in the colloquial language as an adverb meaning "fluently"! For example, one might say: "My daughter speaks english "farsí"!" [η κόρη μου μιλά τ' αγγλικά φαρσί!], meaning "she speaks english fluently". I know this is "all greek to you", but it's probably an expression whose origin, according to a theory, goes back to the Ottoman occupation, when persian was the official language of the Palace, and the Turks considered educated those who spoke it, so the expression passed also to us.

I like your approach to learning. It worked for me with Greek, which I now speak fluently and read books. I have also learned Levantine Arabic, but reading is more difficult because fusha contains so many words which are different from Lebanese or Syrian. I am amazed at how many words of Turkish and Farsi I can recognize from Arabic. Turkish and Farsi words have also found their way into the adjacent Arabic dialects. In one Syrian song it says "waa gurbe", oh, my cat. Normally this would be "bseine" in Levantine. Will look on Amazon for your books. ممنون

I am a Panjabi speaker. Panjabi is influenced by Farsi which makes it a little easier to learn some words as they are very similar.
Also one of a great piece of Sikh literature called "Zafar-nama" was written by Guru Gobind Singh as a letter to Emperor Aurangzeb.
To be able to understand that easier it is very important to have a good knowledge of Farsi.
