    My first rule of thumb when smashing is to know when to not smash. No matter how good your smash skill is, if you are off balance, you are at the very end of back court or your opponent is super ready for your smash, it is not going to work.

      It should not deter you, you can still do it but keep in mind you are wanting to win the point rather to take advantage for next rally

    my tips for smashing are
    1: focus on your precision first, then start increasing power. even if your smash is kinda slow if you smash it on the line they still can't return it.
    2: don't smash when you are out of position. sometimes when youre being pressured to the back dont smash cuz chances are its gonna be a weak smash and they can easily return it to the front where you cant recover.
    3: try incorporating some slices and diagonal smashes. this makes it way harder for your opponent to predict what you're gonna do cuz if all you do is smash straight they can just stand there and predict you.
    4: be prepared to follow up. sometimes when you have a good smash you might not expect your opponent to return it, and when they do, it's hard for you to follow up. so after every smash be aware of what your opponent is gonna do next.

    Very important points, regarding tension, high is good for feathers but for plastics 24lbs to 21lbs is best

    i like how he explain about tension power need to use because last week my racket tension 24 then i decided to change to 22 but when i use 22 lbs it feel so loose to smash because the string not feel good but when im use my second racket 28 lbs it feel good and perfect smashing place but idk i still need try my 27 lbs the first racket astrox 01 clear with nanorgy 98 string overall very good explain couch😅

      @williamhuang3808 Před rokem +1

      if the tension is too high, the smash power will also go down, because its like a trampoline and a stone floor - u bounce way higher on a tramploline. The best tension for power in my opinion is between 26-28. higher string tensions give more control, so you might want to opt for that.

      @@williamhuang3808 The pros players have tension exceeding 30lbs...and they can smash. Example, the Chinese team. The men play with tension exceeding 30lbs. The women players rarely go lower than 28lb, there are some that use 30-32 lbs tension.
      I would think each player will find a suitable tension for their style of play. There's no one size-fits-all.

    • @myclamish
      @myclamish Před rokem +1

      @@ThaiOdessy my general understanding is that pros use a high tension because it gives them maximum consistency, not for power. Like william huang stated, my understanding is you lose power as your strings get more tensioned because its closer and closer to hitting with a non-flexible surface. Just the more solid the surface is the less deviation you'll get on the repulsive force.
      I suspect the original poster is probably not actually getting more power, but it will 100% feel better when hitting as you don't get that weird string vibration, and it'll sound much better as well.

      @@myclamish Thanks Mike.
      Not here to 'dis' anyone but what I'm trying to say is the tension would be suitable and complimentary to a person's level of play. There's a video on StringScience by Yonex that does a good explanation. Cheers

      That's wrong the more tension the more power ik less tension the power is good but it's because it's rackets help, but when high tension you have to control the racket that means if u have more power the better shot

      Exactly. Higher tensions give more control and accuracy, not power.

    • @ijack1
      @ijack1 Před rokem +1

      Agreed. The string "lower tensions" (within the racket suggestions) stretch ever more slightly on contact. Which means when the strings tries to return back to neutral position after contact, it adds more velocity to the bird/ball/whatever for racket sports (as long as swing speed is same). Which is why follow through is so important. This extra velocity from lower tensions WILL NOT MATTER in most situations other than high level competitive/pro level where winning a point is within milliseconds of getting the bird/ball/whatever past the opponent. So what I'm trying to say is choose the tension most comfortable for you. I tried the lowest racket tensions for a while and found that it made trying to get my drops accurate worse, so I learned the best tensions for me is the middle of the racket's recommended range.

      It depends on your level of play. If you are an intermediate to advanced player,, it makes a noticeable difference if you use a 28lb racquet vs 22lb racquet.
