  • My father gave me this Nespresso Magimix M100 after he was tired of dealing with the bad responding buttons of his Nespresso machine.
    I thought of it as a fun challenge to see if i could repair the buttons with (mostly) basic tools.
    In this video I will show you how to fix broken buttons of a Nespresso machine.
    Enjoy

    Thank you. I ordered the tool from Amazon and did the fix too. Now the buttons work without having to press them down thinking you are going to break the machine!
    A great explainer video.

    Thank you, works perfectly. I had this machine for nearly 15 or more years. I hate to see items go to the landfill, when it’s really an easy fix. Even for a lady in her late sixties.

    It really works! - My C100 Nespresso machine had no visible contamination between the buttons and printed board at all, however after cleaning with IPA both buttons work perfectly well... One of these 2 was not working for about 5 years... Thank you so much for sharing this repair!

    A tip that solved a problem, the round disk in front of the capsule can be released and cleaned, it looked dirty at both sides at my device and i wanted to clean it thoroughly in vinegar. It has around 25 very small holes but with my disk too many holes were blocked, result was leaking of water. After cleaning the disk that problem was solved and the capsule container was almost dry. Device should of course be opened to do the cleaning.

    My Essenza machine, that I bought in 2007, has always functioned well. Last week, the "brew" switch would only stay on for a second, the pump working for that time, and then it shut off. After finally discovering how to remove those notorious proprietary oval screws I was able to examine the switch and discovered that material fatigue had caused the cylindrical part of the button to separate. The solution was to purchase a new switch. This is just to say that sometimes, cleaning the button contacts isn't the solution for a switch problem.

    How many machines end up at the dump while easily repairable. The crazy buttons are like the buttons of a remotecontrol. With my machine the buttons did react bad and after some time having to push harder and harder they didn't react at all. Dump or repair attempt? First problem...those exotic oval screws but with some pain and after many attempts i managed too get the bastards out (gues they used extra superglue in the screw hole to fix the bastards) than i did they same as you did and used a pencil to add some grafite on the ovals on the bottom of the buttons and it works but for how long????? Those buttons are a bad choice and with the screws the manufacturer gives a signal not to open and repair their..correct our device. With those choices especially the screws the manufacterer knows you will buy another device in the near future.
    Screws ended in garbagecan instead of the device.

      @SpareTimeWorkshop  Před 2 lety +1

      Good to hear your device is working again.
      Why do you use gravite? Do your buttons react better because of the gravite?
      I agree with you. It's annoying that you are forced by the manufacturer to buy special tools to attempt a repair. Luckily I still had it lying around, they also use these screws at Jura.

      @@SpareTimeWorkshop _Hello there, grafite works with remotecotroles and the buttons bottom looked the same as a remotecontol button so i tried and it worked but for how long is unclear...a new spare part would definitely last longer, they sell them for around 6 euros but the shippingcosts are ridiculous. couple of grams and rather small... shippingcosts 6 euros. Could visit a sparepartsshop in my town but at the moment its working well. When i looked at the screws i wasn't even sure it were screws,the strange never seen oval heads looked like a sort of rivet but they turned out to be screws. I understand all Nespresso divices are equipped with those oval bastards.

      I flattened a thin piece of steel pipe until it was oval with a pair of Mole Grips. It took a few tries, but half hour later all of them were sorted. Hope that helps.

      Do the buttons not work at all or do they sometimes work?

    • @agegroot5666
      @agegroot5666 Před 2 lety +2

      My device was dead too but now works.
      You can use some grafite from a pencil on the buttons bottom or buy new buttons (longest lasting solution), cheaper solution than buying a new device. You already managed to get those terrible screws out of the device, give it a try with grafite from a pencil. Problem migh have another cause,to check the device,the pcb on the left has two wires,connect those wires with a isolated screwdriver and the led on the right button must start blinking, if it works and it ends with a standlight on de right button push that button,if nothing happens that button might be the problem,do the same as with the left button,there are 3 wires,one goes to the led,the other wires should be connected with the isolated screwdriver (be careful be careful) and the device will start pumping or not. If this doesn't work there's something wrong with de pcb on the right side, it contains electrolytic capacitors and that might be the problem because over the years they degrade.
