You should write a book to include these techniques and other of your many excellent methods. You could reference your CZcams videos in the book. I would certainly buy a copy. It would also make a nice gift. It would be an excellent addition to a new knitter kit for a grand hild or other loved one. Let your followers know about your book. I think it would be a bestseller in the knitting community.
Heh. Thank you for your lovely feedback Melanie. One day, I might just write a book. But I know how much work it is. And not sure I'm ready for it, yet :P
@@NimbleNeedles prior to printing anything, creating more and more great playlists of all sorts of your own videos will be handy (and help you to organize your own work too!) so we can send around links to each other. Love you Norman. Happy new year, all the best in 2023! 🎉
Thanks for your informative and well explained tutorials Norman. I have learnt so much. Now I'm all set to sew in the ends of my knitting 😊
This is the best video ever for weaving in yarn tails. No one has explained it as thoroughly as you have. Thank you so much!
you make me ashamed of all the shoddy finishing I've done in my knitting life! Thanks, Norman. You're wonderful.
you are very welcome. BUt never be ashamed. whatever works, works. and it's not like anyone sees the ends (well, ideally speaking :P)
I’ve been knitting for twenty years and learned several new favourite techniques in this video. So helpful, thank you!
This is rhe most helpful explanation and more methods for working ends in that I have ever come across before. Thank you.❤
I love the way you explain the mechanics behind every method, the WHY'S, and not only HOW'S. Great tutorial, thank you
Thank you for this video. Your instructions are clear and easy to follow. I like how you give examples for so many different scenarios, and explain the reasons for the techniques. It has been so helpful for a striped blanket I’m finishing that I put many hours of work into, so I want the finishing to look really nice. It is a gift for someone special, and you are a special gift to us learners!😊
Wow! I have been knitting for 54 years since I was 4 years old and thought I had all the different weaving techniques down pat for different fabric types and yarn choices. Boy did you prove me wrong! Thanks for showing me some different methods and proving that no matter how long you have been proficient at something, there is ALWAYS more to learn!
PS I just found your channel today and it looks like I have a bit of binge watching to do! 😀
To split yarn I rub it close to the work to flatten it and find the strands. I put a finger through and follow it up through the end. It’s really quick.
I’ve been knitting for a number of years but never been taught how to properly weave in ends. Its the part of the project that I hate and often my projects will sit because I avoid the finishing.
This video has given me great tips to get them done! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you for this video! I finished knitting my first sweater but have been putting off weaving in the ends. Now I’m more confident that they won’t come loose after wear and tear!
I've been knitting for 25 years, mostly self taught. Your videos are wonderful. really some of the best I've come across! Maybe that is the silver lining to the Covid pandemic😀
Thank you for this master class in weaving in! This beginner has learned so much and wish I could go back and re-make all of my previous knits!
Aww. Thank you! ❤😊 but do embrace those mistakes as part of your journey..a project can still be beautiful despite not being 100% perfect.
New to your channel. I’m 73, have knitted all my life, off and on, but always learning. Thank you for your video.
That's the spirit Martha. While I am still a bit younger than you, I too try to learn something new every day :) It's what I love about this hobby so much - there's always something new to discover around the corner
Wonderful tips. Thank you, l've been knitting off and on for 50 years and still learned something new. I wanted to add my tip for anyone who, for whatever reason can't use a spit splice or other join and is worrying about running out of yarn - and therefore needing to join in a new ball - in the middle of a row. l estimate how much yarn l'll need by using my working yarn to measure loosely across the row (or the remaining stitches in the row) the same way you did to estimate the tail in your cast-on demonstration - if l have 4 X the width of the row, l know l'll have enough yarn to get to the edge before l run out. My favourite joining method is a spit splice but, l'll definitely try a couple of the others you mentioned and although l mostly manage to knit in my ends l'llbe using your method to weave them in when l need to. Also, for years I've successfully used a version of the spit splice on yarn that doesn't felt - l split the old and new strands in half for about 10 cm and twist half from each strand together, l knit a couple of stitches with the old yarn and the ½ strand of the new yarn together, then let the half strand from the old ball drop, knit the yarn l've made by twisting the old and new strands together and when l get to the other end of my join l knit a couple of stitches with the new yarn and the ½ strand of the old yarn. I let the unused other halves dangle behind the work and trim them off later. l've never had the courage to try a russian join as for some reason l worry they'll come undone after a few washes. 😊
thank you so much for this video! I think your demonstrations and explanations of all these different techniques makes this one (1) video a gold mine! I've knitted many projects that I now realize I could/should have woven in the ends in a better way. Now I'm looking forward to trying some of these new approaches with projects in the works that I knew I needed a better way to weave in my ends. Thanks again.
You're videos are very helpful. I'm just finishing up my girlfriends birthday present. Thank you so much for all of the knowledge and excellent presentation!
I have been knitting for 20 years and realizing I have never known how to do this properly. Thank you so much!!
I really enjoyed your video on weaving in ends! Very helpful and I subscribed to your channel. Many thx!
The very last technique of splitting the cotton yarn is exactly what I needed a few months ago! Wish I had seen this video back then, but in the future all cotton lace projects are getting this treatment! Thank you for making these super helpful videos!
You are absolutely incredible, Norman. Thank you so much for your work!!
You're literally the best. You have helped me in so many ways. I felt like knitting was an insurmountable hobby to learn, but through your extensive library, I've been able to finish three whole projects! They're not perfect, but they're getting better and better. I'm a skilled quilter, embroiderer, and cross stitcher, but knitting always scared me. Now I can say YES, I CAN KNIT! :D
I absolutely love how detailed your videos are. "Weaving in tails" is often why I don't complete some of my projects. Great tips here, time to 'finish' my blanket. Thank you, I'm encouraged ☺️
Ha! Well, I loved embroidery as a little kid. So, I guess it might explain why weaving in ends is actually fun for me 😅
@@NimbleNeedles You have such a wealth of knowledge about knitting. The way you demonstrate and explain different techniques is always so clear and easy to understand. The minute I start watching one of your videos I click the 'like' button because I know its going to be a great tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, its greatly appreciated ❤
so glad to know how to weave in cotton tails.
I especially like your recommandations about weaving cotton tails.
Thank you. Especially for the advice about slippery yarns. Today, I am using a bamboo/merino blend.
Hab vielen, vielen Dank ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Thank you, this is the best video I've seen on weaving in ends. Great help 😊
Hey there! Just wanted to take a moment to send some appreciation your way! I'm a beginner knitter and recently purchased the How to knit the galaxy pattern book, and of course decided to choose a challenging fair isle type star wars sweater as my first project. I did some youtube research here with your videos, and just from observing your techniques I was able to land here at the end of my sweater with binding off and hiding all the color changing tails.
I wanted to thank you as I thought this sweater which my book as mentioned is one of the more difficult projects was going to be a lot more harder than it actually was. Thanks again for posting these videos, it is greatly appreciated and I look forward to seeing your amazing work here going forward!
Aww...thank you Antonio. Very happy to hear you were able to finish such a challenging project and I was able to help you a tiny bit along!
Another great video! I too was told not to go through the yarn when weaving in, Never did know why not. I will now be going through the yarn all the time.
You just changed my life with this video, especially when adding a new color! It was definitely that lightbulb moment. Thanks so much for this information.
oh wow....very happy to hear that Rae. It feels good to be a "lifechanger" *grin*
Very informative! I'm definitely going to try weaving my ends through the purl bumps instead of under them.
Thanks for making this video. It is saved in my knitting list so that I can rewatch everything that I need to weave in tails.
very clear instructions I had not thought about them before. Thank you
I like the idea of using a sharp tapestry needle and going through the stitch. It seems like it would stay secure.
Love your instructions. Thank you for giving so much detail.
I found that duplicate stitch method for lace knitting very useful, thank you. Was looking for some method to work with lace knitting
Thank you Norman!
taking my finish work to the next level..
Thank you for these clear concise examples!
Thank you for teaching us the techniques
Thank you so much , that was super interesting to watch , and ill be re watching again so i can remember and learn to use the techniques you have been kind enough to show us :)
Thank you so much for your detailed videos. I so appreciate the knowledge you share and always learn so much from you. I definitely feel more confident about taking on my next projects after listening and learning from you. ❤
Great tips! Thank you. I'm starting to search and watch all your other videos
I have been knitting for 50 years but thanks to you Norman I have learnt many new techniques and also improved ones I have been using for a long time. Thank you so much for great videos.
I am SO happy to have found your fabulous videos! I can not say thank you enough!
You are a knitting genius!
These videos are so so helpful!
I am learning so much from your videos. Thank you so much.
Really great, Norman! Thanks!
You have such a patient and clear way of explaining all these methods. You have the best tutorials!
Thanks for showing these methods it will change the way I weave in ends in the future!
Thank you so much for this video! I watched your video on changing colours, so I had so many tails.
Thank you, Norman, much appreciated ❤
Thank you! I'm finishing my first ever sweater and this was helpful
Thank you so much for this video! I've always suspected there was a better way to dealing with weaving in the ends. These are amazing!
Thank you so much for a detailed tutorial. You're the best😊
Thank you, Norman, this has been so helpful!!
I never thought of splitting the tails! Great idea to hide ends better. Thank you!
Very helpful tips. Your explanations are clear and concise. Thank you.
Excellent!! Totally new ideas to me. Thank you!
9:52 I am now going to make cool/pretty designs on the back of my projects! Thankyou I have learned quite a bit. I knew a lot of it already but I see some mistakes I have been making so thankyou!
Excellent videos! What I really like is that, whenever you need to explain something that is already in another video, you explain it again, so we don't have to go and watch several videos just to find a peace of information here and there. Another great thing in your work is that you don't have a magic solution to everything. You explain several different techniques and show us its strengths and weaknesses so we can use whatever is better for our specific project. Just a great job!
that is one of my pet peeve. There is no anything "best" in knittng. there is only a "best for you". That's why I try to present choices instead :) :)
Very good tutorial! I learned a lot to weave in the ends. I’m glad to know the various methods for different stitch patterns.
This has been the most useful tutorial I've found. Weaving in has always been my bugbear and now I feel a lot more confident about it.
This is a wonderful video! The speed and pacing of the techniques is perfect. I've been knitting for a couple years now and I've learned so much from this video!
Finally end weaving based on both yarn content and stitch. Brilliant.
Thanks for these tips! Very helpful!
Thank you so much for this! I only wish I had watched this video before I started weaving in the ends of my latest sweater! I have struggled so much to figure out secure methods. The concept of going through the yarn in a stitch is a revelation! I am reaching for my sharp in now!!😊
Really comprehensive video!
As a beginner I found these techniques soo useful! helps me prevent true weaving-in mistakes
THANK YOU! This video is so useful in making my work better. I saved it to a playlist for future reference.😊
Excellent demonstration and explanation of weaving in tails! Thank you❤️❤️❤️
These are great ideas, thank you!
Thank you so much for posting this! I have never weaved in the ends before. Now I feel confident I can do it.
Thank you very much for this MASTER CLASS❤❤❤
You have the best knitting instructional videos I have seen.
Thank you so much for this helpful and very enjoyable video. I have been knitting for some time, but always only used basic method for weaving in ends.
It feels so good to learn new techniques for better finishing.
I really enjoy these lessons! His teaching method is superb! Easy to understand and excellent filming.
Great tips. Thanks!
Norman.....you explain things so well.... you really help me in my "knitting" issues! Thank you! 😊
I wish I had watched this years ago!! Seriously so helpful, could have saved so much time
great tutorial! Very thorough! Thank you, Norman, for putting this together!
Well Norman - you did it again! Excellent video, clear explanations of why one technique works in a given situation. So much better to suit the weave to the yarn and the project. I only know the American figure 8 method. And now I think my serape coasters will be more beautiful because I wasn’t really happy with the look I was getting on the color changes for the stripes. Or all the weaving in. Can’t wait to use your (so much easier!) technique🤗🧶
Excellent video, thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your tutorial, it's so helpful!!
So helpful as I am a beginner. Very happy I stumbled upon you!❤
This is super helpful! Thanks for sharing! ❤
Thank you! This video has helped me immensely. 😊
Great video and explanations!
I love your video tutorials! They’re paced well, have clear narration and are visually clear as well. Thank you!
Always helpful!
Such great info, Norman. Thank you.
I really appreciate your expertise and easy fun way of explaining exactly what is possible! Especially appreciated that superwash wool will not matt. Thank you Norman! You are the best!
Excellent techniques 👌 👏
Mind blown, this is soo much easier than what I’ve been doing. Gotta get some sharp tapestry needles now! Thanks so much Norman!
Love your tutorials! So easy to follow! Clear, concise and well thought out! Thank you!
Thank you for this video, lots of great information.
such great tutorials - thanks
I used your method of weaving in garter stitch tails on a log cabin modular project, and I am delighted with the results! Thank you. 😊
Bless you - I’ve been knitting for 54 years and always shied away from any pattern that would challenge me with weaving in ends 😦 1 month ago I learned about grafting new yarn on and it changed my life - until now! THIS video has opened up a whole new world to me in finishing my projects in way I’m proud of. Thank you SO much for this excellent demonstration of so many different ways to weave in tails! Just the sharp needle is a revelation to me - I bought the needles at once! 😂🎉❤🎉😂 Thank you for your work 🙏🏻🫶🙏🏻
