Yes, in fact conveyor system works only with big rubble parts. That's because it's a little bit harder from star wheels to pick up smaller pieces (due to lack of flat parts in 42055).

Is this based on a specific machine? Becuase it looks odd with that tiny cutting head and articulated arm.
M1longer Yes, based on a real machine. Unfortunately due lack of specific parts i wasn't able to do a bigger and more realistic cutting head.
I have made that kind of machine and I do not recall few functions that are in your model. Can you tell which machine was used as an insipration?
