I find it more elegant to revolve the entire cone. This allows me to do the center bore in the same operation. I then negative extrude the empty space between two branches and circular pattern the negative space instead of the branch itself. This also allows me to draw the 22mm radius in the sketch and removes one fillet operation from the tree. The biggest downside to this method is that the cbore hole is not part of the circular pattern, but it still results in a more compact tree.

Just create another sketch. Then convert the edge entities of the corner that you are having trouble filleting with. Then Fillet the sketch with 30 radius. extrude the created contour up until the revolve surface. Hide the revolve surface again and THATS IT!

I have a question if someone can help. When he is doing the sketch and drawing a circle, the dimension automatically appears and can type it in right away instead of doing the circle then clicking smart dimension then dimensioning the circle. where is that to turn it on?

    • @markschneider6718

Hi Craig, I was using the option "Enable on screen numeric input on entity creation". Go to Tools->Options->Sketch and look for "Enable on screen numeric input on entity creation" I have this checked, and also the option below it "Create dimension only when value is entered". This allows me to sketch normally without dimensions when I do not enter a value. Here is the help page describing this option. help.solidworks.com/2020/english/Solidworks/sldworks/HIDD_OPTIONS_SKETCH.htm?rid=131415

Some are defiantly better than others. If you are a student join FSAE or Baja. That will give you access to a lot of parts to look at and see how those parts were made.

Very clunky way to model that shape.
Revolve the xz-plane profile, cut extrude a single leg with the main sketch terminating at the 120° planes then drive that angle by adding two equations: "qty"=3 and "angle"=360/"qty", add a c/bore hole and pattern the cuts and cbores linking them to the "qty". Finish off by adding the fillets.
Really the rads between the legs should be controlled with an offset from the central cylindrical face so that changing size doesn't detonate the model. Id also drive the offset around the c/bores from the hole feature.
But then I love to future proof models as I go.
