I have mentioned this before about flooding ..my great grand parents street plus half our town was flooded in 1936 the water reached the roof because both branches flooded the same day …after another severe flood in 47 they built a dam …several houses were swept down river, plus the contents of many houses, they also built break water walls all along the riverbanks that looks exactly like some I have seen in your videos, I grew up in that house that was flooded, on the back part of the back shed you could still see the water line from the 47 flood. Could explain the really old stuff you find.

The handle with the curved wires is a rug beater. I have one hanging in my garage. When a throw rug, welcome mat, etc., got dirty, it would be hung on a clothesline and hit with the rug beater to knock the dust out of it. That was usually the kid's job when it came to house cleaning.

At 6:55, the piece that looks like a "pulley" is called a thimble, rope or wire gets spliced around it to form an eye, the thimble protects the rope from chafing.
