He would ride over and talk bird dogs and horses w. my uncle who had lost his arm in the war. My other uncle in Memphis sold him several cars and owned a cream coloured Cadillac w. security class between front and back seat that Elvis traded in.
Its just crazy that one man was so hugely talented, absolutely drop dead gorgeous ,sexy,charismatic and a nice guy it seems .. I mean ,he just makes me melt ..

I was born in 1979 in Denmark, but I was raised on Elvis since before I could talk. Just like Muslims are supposed to go to Mecca if possible, I, like my parents did, will eventually make the pilgrimage to Graceland. I'll wait till my kids are old enough to appreciate it and remember it forever.

Go back to Vaughn Monroe, Harve Presnell and others w. RICH velvety voices. Black people do not OWN all the great song singers. I loved Johnny Mathis too, but Elvis can bring me to tears, like Vaughn, Harve' Elvis, Marvin, Robert Palmer, some great Blue Eyed Soul. Going to play Trouble Man and then Palmer's Mercy cover.

In 1962, we had The Cuban Missile Crisis on our doorstep ... and inside our house 1962 was not a real good time for Black Americans in the southern U.S. We have simply grown up ... and our awareness of reality makes us sad ... it makes us angry ... with each other and with ourselves. We don't like knowing what we now know and the only thing we can do is wish for OUR happier time and place, remembering that it can only come from our personal perspective.
