Crazy part is, Eminem’s verse was already written before it became a Jay-Z track. It’s was an old verse from Eminem who originally had Royce Da 5’9 on the song, but Eminem just left the same verse without changing shit. And Jay STILL couldn’t beat those verses. Eminem haters will never know or admit the fact that Eminem out did JayZ. Only the real hip hop fans know.

Em was telling a story based on how people view his lyrics at face value and it's impact on society (especially the kids/youth) and use it to judge him in real life. He also highlights on his upbringing and life from rags to riches in the game.
Jay on the other hand talked about the tough time in his childhood, neighborhood, growing up and the lessons he learned from that poor state to his current state doing him.
Both spoke about factual issues about their upbringing and raise to fame doing them from their personal perspectives.
That makes it a classic track. The difference in the song is the delivery which em effortlessly flowed and outrapped Jay. His breath control and choice of words is brilliant and impeccable.

Depends on your perspective I think em first verse was better, but jay 2nd verse spoke to all kids from the projects in Brooklyn, I felt that 2nd verse, still one of my favorite verses from hov

People who say this don't listen to lyrics they just skim through it.. that 2nd verse from Jay is the best verse on the entire song..

No it wasn’t. Jay’s versed were great but Eminem’s were just better. Nothing wrong with admitting that

@@calantheshaman and you think anything Eminem said wasn't basic it was a typical Eminem verse talking about how people don't like him and how he's not a role model that's it nothing amazing about that
