I loved this game as a kid. Everything about it was exactly what I wanted in a game at the time. The gods, the battle system, the strategy... It didn't take me very long to complete the main story missions for all the Demigods and unlock all the Gods, but the game really shines when you get multiplayer involved. Of course, if you're not proficient at the battle system - you will not get the most out of the game. But you need to introduce some strategy into the mix if you want to win as sometimes (in the main story, at least) wrong placement of your own units will screw you over. Though, I do love to brute force my way through the enemy team. My fave character was Aenna the Water Goddess (Light Order), the Water Elemental (a Summon ONLY unit that was warrior level) and the Genie. With the three of them, I was basically unstoppable against my friends and the AI. And would often times just bring her out and plow through loads of the enemy units with ease. It was so satisfying. Heck, the game even has an army builder so you can choose whichever units you want to use specifically in your army. I was never that fond of the Juggernaught Adepts, Centaur or Ogre Mage so I actually had two Frost Dragons, dozens of Genie's and Unicorns and Aenna. It was totally awesome. I still have the game to this day. And I every once in awhile, I play it for the luls. I'm not as good as I used to be but can still remember how to perform all the best combos. Here's a tip - if you're ever using the Frost Dragon, Genie or Unicorn, they can freeze enemies with their minor magic. So try and spam that if you find the AI being cheesy. ;) Happy gaming, guys!
+NexusARC I remember playing a demo when I was much younger, and I have ALWAYS tried to find this game.... Proud to say, I FINALLY now know the name of this game, and can now hopefully buy my copy somewhere to play the full game ^-^
Such a unique and interesting game. I remember my parents would sometimes go to block buster and rent random games for me. They brought this home one time and I played it despite not knowing what to do and I remember being really confused when I was a kid. I loved it though and bought it ASAP. I recently found this game in my closet and I feel really nostalgic!
Interesting fact: The voice actors for Aena (Light Order) and Epothos (Light Chaos) are the same voice actors that voice Bastila Shan and Darth Malak in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, respectively. True story.
so, so awesome. They should make an hd remake with online for the current gen but it's such a shame that it's not a popular but a hard game to come across, i was lucky i was able to play it on my original xbox
I’d love a reboot to this. Also I found the elementals you could summon with your demi gods we’re OP I think they were only considered a rank 2 unit but their attack patterns could mop up most anything without ever having to get close enough to get hit. Helped a lot against a pretty strong AI
oh shit i remember playing this game in a gamestop with my friend and i loved it. never saw what it was called though and every now and then i remember it but could never find videos on it because i didnt know the name
Very much a unknown gem. Hard to believe this is this is the only review I've been able to find on CZcams. Found this randomly in the bargain bin as a kid and is one of my favorite games from the ps2 era.
I like how I search for "strategi fighting game with monsters for xbox" to find this game again completly forgot the title, played it as a child with my friends and loved it.
I owned and dominated this game back when it came out. Picked it up at the local flea market. What a great time. Not to mention, Mako Iwamatsu as the narrator. Uncle Iroh was always telling the stories of the elements.
You can't mash unicorn light attack against medium or hard ai, because they actually block effectively. The hard ai will also dodge to some degree and interrupt your attack if possible
i didn't read the original comment carefully. obviously just spamming one button ain't gonna work. but the ai is still very exploitable, and you could absolutely beat every unit on hard with just the light attack button and the unicorn. just not by literally spamming it. you still need to time it and stuff, but the start up and recovery frames for standing the unicorn light attack made it unpunishable. standing light on the djin/genie was also very fast if i remember correctly. if the ai blocked it or dodged it, you recovered fast enough to block their response. it was very easy honestly, if you viewed it as a very simple and hella imbalanced fighting game (which it basically was)
If you're too lazy or too stoned to play chess, there's Wrath Unleashed. Nothing much bad to say about it. It is still a very coveted title especially in good condition.
Listening to your complaints, I would just like to explain a few things that might help your enjoyment of the game a little. For starters, you are supposed to block by pressing R1 but it always seemed a bit off when I used it. My strategy is to never block and be as aggressive as you can. I beat the light order campaign by spamming a,a,b, which is a reliable combo. Finally, for unlocking the gods I recommend the light order campaign which is the easiest and if you search there is a god glitch.
Trust me, with enough time playing the game (too much :D ) you can defeat the AI on hardest all the time. I've killed their demigod with a genie from %100, as well as a 100->0% demigod unicorn kill. Each mob has it's own tips and tricks, and some you want to spell spam against and some you want to get in melee with. Weakest mob, imo is any of the dragons which have MASSIVE hit boxes and slow, small range attacks. Against the AI you can spam the dig attack and probably win but against another player you will get creamed on a dragon nearly all the time.
continued: the glitch is in a video that you can find on you tube, the kid's voice is a little annoying but it allows you to use any of the four gods while only having to unlock one. I hope this helps you enjoy this very underrated game in my opinion,
This won't take 4 1/2 minutes. "What the hell is Wrath Unleashed?" It is an update of Archon on the Green screen Commodore computers and later in colour on the C64. I'm willing to bet the farm that Archon was inspired by the game Chewie and 3PO played on the Millennium Falcon.
It translates to the elements as classic mythos and such attribute dark (evil) spirits/gods/angels to those elements. Lord of Air, Hades, etc. Where as water and earth are the light counterparts. Holy Spirit=water. Such and such.
I loved this game so much! XD I can fight well and can clear every map in hard....tough, but I got through. Favorite creature in every element are their Champion Walkers. "Fire Giant" for one >:D
+Soul Dood Haha for ages my Dad, my Dad's friend and I all thought the fire giant was rubbish until I tried it for myself and found it has an op blast that has is quick and big. I basically only press Y.
So... I've just found a brand new sealed Xbox copy of this which is compatible on my Asian version of Xbox 360, is it worth buying? The price is about 25$
So much potential for a more in depth story about the different units and main history. Thinking about one of the failing of the game is just a laziness in writing. And this is probably one reason it failed.
I beat all of the campaigns except for Durlock's... for some reason his was impossible for me when I was able to easily win with every other one, I forgot why.
Well the level I was stuck on with Durlock was that Epothos had fucking champions all over the place. So I brought out Durlock and Epothos decided to go after him(which was a miracle) but I still had a hard time kicking his ass because I am not used to using demigods for battle because I always save them last.
I actually beat his campaign. It was a little easier for me at least cause he was my favorite and my favorite unit was the iron golem. I will say the first mission where you have to beat the lava giants was the hardest of all of them. You HAVE to take the magic ports, so you had to get good with the 2hb bar units vs 2hp bar units. Send the golem to kill the dragon on the green temple thing... if I remember correctly, if you beat the dragon on its home turf and capture that temple, it kills the lava giants or half of them. I personally used the golem for that and the demi as well. Magic is for heals and or resurrection. I mainly used one unit and mastered it. Side note, my water genie strat was op as hell lol. I figured out that you can use the light magic to freeze the enemy and follow up with the light light heavy attack that wips the staff three times and then transition straight into another freeze... only way to counter it is with a dodge or another light magic attack; however, you only have like half a second to do it and the dodge doesn't always work. It was so cheesy and frustrating but it gets the job done. You also could've furthered the combo to where you shoot out the holographic staff for even more damage, but it pushes the enemy further away, giving them more time to react
I enjoyed the video overall except for your mic sounded terrible and cheap so upgrade your mic to one with alot more dynamic range like a Shure brand and your voice will sound way more balanced with the rest of your sound mix.
Your just bad like no offense you probably just didn't have as much practice as me but I can beat the hardest AI. Not easily but I would win more often that I lost which is good because it least it doesn't have insanely easy bots like TF2. Still though I don't think the game is much fun if you don't play against actual people that are about as good as the game as you.
The music is so loud that I cannot hear anything you say, while the subtitles are all wacked... Nice video I guess but you know... All I hear is mumbling and that doesn't really do it for me
Oof water oger freeze + follow up with the traditional combo into a heavy attack was OP as hell... you lose a whole God damn health bar... I still think the ginnie is better though :p
if u dont block u can kick ass and demys r not meant to fight so don't fight with them k i love it i brunt my game out playing it so just wave fun and the ai is cheep so put it on easy

Happy gaming, guys!
this needs a remake
Yes
Took me so long to hunt this old game down.
+NexusARC I remember playing a demo when I was much younger, and I have ALWAYS tried to find this game.... Proud to say, I FINALLY now know the name of this game, and can now hopefully buy my copy somewhere to play the full game ^-^
+animelover6600 i am having the exact same experience
+Doofus Dick98 =D
same :o
I just found it and cryed
Daaang just remembered the name of this game. Love this game 10 years ago. Will have to find it again.
Is it just me, or does the guy who voices the opening sequence sound like uncle Iroh from the last airbender?
+Crust Bucket It is not just you i think it does too.
+Crust Bucket It definitely is. I'd remember that voice anywhere; It's very memorable.
Reminds me of Aku from Samuri Jack
yes this is Mako, his passing still upsets me. Such a talented voice actor.
ben robbins same guy
Such a unique and interesting game. I remember my parents would sometimes go to block buster and rent random games for me. They brought this home one time and I played it despite not knowing what to do and I remember being really confused when I was a kid. I loved it though and bought it ASAP.

You're mixing them up, it's Durlock and Helamis you meant to say.
THIS IS THE GAME I COULD NEVER REMEMBER THE NAME OF HOLY SHIT!!!!
Is it freaking Mako doing the intro, wow sounds just like the Conan intro, epic -)
Holy shit, I think you’re right.
Used to rent this game from blockbuster everytime
Same bro. Never owned it, just kept borrowing it
so, so awesome. They should make an hd remake with online for the current gen but it's such a shame that it's not a popular but a hard game to come across, i was lucky i was able to play it on my original xbox
So this is more or less the Unholy war from ps1. I love this! ;D
And unholy war was Archon from the 8 bit era.
This is EXACTLY like The Unholy War. That's what I loved about it so much.
I’d love a reboot to this. Also I found the elementals you could summon with your demi gods we’re OP I think they were only considered a rank 2 unit but their attack patterns could mop up most anything without ever having to get close enough to get hit. Helped a lot against a pretty strong AI
You got the factions wrong, Durlock is Dark Order, and Epothos is Light Chaos
I still have this game in my collection & played it during lockdown. I hope remake for the version with many more characters.
the ost is brilliant as well
oh shit i remember playing this game in a gamestop with my friend and i loved it. never saw what it was called though and every now and then i remember it but could never find videos on it because i didnt know the name
You can also change out your Unit loadouts to fit how you want them to, badass game
I loved this game so much! I just remembered it and now want to play it again SO bad!
Bruh this game was my
childhood
Man I remember this game , jezus christ what a little gem. Also general iro/aku as an intro? heck yeah!
I played the demo of this game a lot when I was little and I just got reminded of it today, Imma get a copy soon
Very much a unknown gem. Hard to believe this is this is the only review I've been able to find on CZcams. Found this randomly in the bargain bin as a kid and is one of my favorite games from the ps2 era.
I used to play this all the time I loved it I want it for the one
I played a demo of this and I loved it. Im so glad i finally found the name. Buying NOW.
I like how I search for "strategi fighting game with monsters for xbox" to find this game again completly forgot the title, played it as a child with my friends and loved it.
I loved this as a child
No fk. way! I never knew Unholy War from ps1 had a spiritual successor!
And don't forget the Archon games, which are spiritual predecessors!
I remember loving this game but it being hard as shit. R.I.P PS2 one of the greatest systems to ever exist
Agreed the PS2 was 1 the greatest game systems ever to exist Shame that the PS3 didn't live up to it lineage
I owned and dominated this game back when it came out. Picked it up at the local flea market. What a great time. Not to mention, Mako Iwamatsu as the narrator. Uncle Iroh was always telling the stories of the elements.
this needs to be on the ps4 along with bujingai the forsaken city.
And xbox one since it was also on the go Xbox
I remember how I would beat any enemy monster, including demigods, just using the basic unicorn and spamming one attack button. Good and fun memories.
only playing against the easy ai i see
nah, the ai is quite exploitable, just like any ai. once you figure out something that works, it literally always works :P
You can't mash unicorn light attack against medium or hard ai, because they actually block effectively. The hard ai will also dodge to some degree and interrupt your attack if possible

Wrath Unleashed BEST FUCKING GAME I EVER PLAYED WHEN I WAS A KID.
That’s Uncle Iroh’s voice!
2019 and i rely miss this game
This is great for vs two player matches
Damn this really takes me back. This game combined two of my favorite genres. It’s a shame it was so obscure
If you're too lazy or too stoned to play chess, there's Wrath Unleashed.
Nothing much bad to say about it. It is still a very coveted title especially in good condition.
The intro VA sounds a lot like uncle Iroh from Avatar
It is. Its Mako, who also voiced Aku in Samurai Jack, and many other things. Was a wonderful actor
If your here now you miss this game.

This game was rated T while showing a bush
Omfg I found it YESSS😢 I used to play this game sooo sooooo much❤ bro zoo nostalgia

OH MY GOD IS THAT NARRATOR UNCLE IROH?!
Thats totally Aku from samurai jack. I keep expecting him to say "for my name is Akuuuu"..... after each sentence lol
@@thejoecookeexperience9236 Yeah they're both voiced by the legendary Mako, RIP
This game ruled.
I love this game but the campaign was so freaking hard! D:
+Kilij I don't think so.
I finished it 5 time Xd to Ez for me
This won't take 4 1/2 minutes.
"What the hell is Wrath Unleashed?" It is an update of Archon on the Green screen Commodore computers and later in colour on the C64.
I'm willing to bet the farm that Archon was inspired by the game Chewie and 3PO played on the Millennium Falcon.
this should have been a game exclusive for the Xbox series x
Dang, I never got to play the actual game, just the demo that was available as an extra when I had Armed and Dangerous
Anybody know if there are any new games that are like this? It took me forever to find it again and I want to get the same sort of experience.
+VolatileMachine yeah same
'Chaos Reborn' is quite like Wrath Unleashed, no?
The Unholy War to ps1 and Archon Classic on steam are two good games in this gener.
I only play the demo,i alway want to play the whole thing but i couldn't find it at our video store nor buy it back in 2005
Someone should powerscale the demigods.
I played the SHITTTT outta this game. It's One of the main games I played as a kid.
Oh come on, I made Helamis a god on my first try. And I only lost once, it's not THAT hard, although the ai is cheese incarnate.
It translates to the elements as classic mythos and such attribute dark (evil) spirits/gods/angels to those elements. Lord of Air, Hades, etc. Where as water and earth are the light counterparts. Holy Spirit=water. Such and such.
We need a remake…
Wait did you just say that the campaign was hard? I can't remember what it was like but I know I thought it was easy.
Ai was tough on the highest levels but on easy/medium is was pretty easy
I still have the original game =D 2020
So... I've just found a brand new sealed Xbox copy of this which is compatible on my Asian version of Xbox 360, is it worth buying? The price is about 25$
I was playing this like a crazy, but my brother didn't like it.
We need a remake 😭
Don't know about you but I had no problem with the fighting controls in fact if lost it was only because I fought a strong creature with a weak one.
I remember this game! I love it!!
What are the flouting water and fire dragons called? They're my favorite!!! :D
fuck me I remember this game
I used to get it from Blockbuster all the time
Is there any way you can play this game on ps3 or pc? One of my fav games for ps2
Rainbow Gaming Emulator (pcsx2)
Wait the narrator..it can't be... AKU is that you!?
Worth buying??
JimJam absolutely do it believe me if you are not pleased by the game you can come to germany punch my face personally
Hehehe with technology now days, i found this game in a few hours... I had to look up original xbox elements fantasy fighting game lol
So much potential for a more in depth story about the different units and main history. Thinking about one of the failing of the game is just a laziness in writing. And this is probably one reason it failed.

Does this game come with a built-in demo of Gladius?
Dude. Thats Aku...
An awesome game :)
I enjoyed the video overall except for your mic sounded terrible and cheap so upgrade your mic to one with alot more dynamic range like a Shure brand and your voice will sound way more balanced with the rest of your sound mix.
This game is almost a carbon copy of unholy war for the PS1 I own both. Even with the better graphics this game does not play as well as unholy war.
It’s one of those games that are cheap to own C.I.B.
nice
Your just bad like no offense you probably just didn't have as much practice as me but I can beat the hardest AI. remake with online battles
I have this
I just bought this game for ps2 for 2$
The Unholy War was better in my opinion
Can I play this game on my android?
HA, I was just saying these very things about how BS the AI in this game is.
+viperxvii I don't think so.
+CasualCactus Gaming lawl
don't feel bad. it was easy to be bad at this game lol. I would trash my father, brother, and a friend 3v1 using the water ogers.
Cliff-Ranger48 The ogres are definitely of the most powerful units imo
Oof water oger freeze + follow up with the traditional combo into a heavy attack was OP as hell... you lose a whole God damn health bar... I still think the ginnie is better though :p
you are say "brazil" ? ☺
if u dont block u can kick ass and demys r not meant to fight so don't fight with them k i love it i brunt my game out playing it so just wave fun and the ai is cheep so put it on easy
I got 3 demigods to gods as a 12 year old. haha, u must be so bad at the game.
