      Yeah this one was more on the boring side, sorry. I needed a few videos explaining some of the core concepts in preparation for an ocean collision tutorial but it requires knowledge about ocean and flip combined together. There should be one more FLIP video coming up and then the next one after that I can explain ocean collision which uses the previous videos for core concepts.

    I really like your video, this give us more power than over the top tutorials, we can be more creative knowing about the tool rather than a specific effect .

      Awesome! Thanks, it makes me feel great knowing people appreciate the basic foundation rather than specific effect!

    OMG! this is such an AWESOME explainer video. You're like a Duncan Brinsmead and Dr. Jerry Tessendorf combined with (a smarter version of) Ellen Page! Thank you so much!
    P.S: I also do some VFX work on my channel but its nowhere near as good as your work.
    P.P.S: Do you have a corsair AIO cooler in your system?

    hi, on Houdini 19.5, Min Wavelength parameter in Amplitude of Ocean Spectrum does not function, changes nothing when the slider is dragged. is it a sort of bug or mine is so??

  • @pontosinterligados
    @pontosinterligados Před 21 dnem

    Thanks! is there any way to affect attributes by a mask? say, the same as using to mute the effect, but instead, to change amplitude or wind, depth...(or propagate on the spectrum, values of properties embedded on the scatter points used to source it)

    • @bubblepins
      @bubblepins  Před 19 dny

      You can try inverting the mask, sorry if I'm misunderstanding the question correctly. Hope that helps!

    Is there a way to output this mask from Houdini as a texture?

    • @bubblepins
      @bubblepins  Před 3 lety +1

      The mask from the Ocean Spectrum node? I'm not sure. But I know you can output the Ocean displacement as animated textures. So you could theoretically output one set of Ocean displacement WITH the Noise Mask on and do another Ocean displacement WITHOUT the Noise. Then you could subtract the two images, that should give you the mask.
      Hope that helps!

I also really appreciate how you don't rely on shelf tools, cause all that auto dopnet stuff can get really messy at the obj level. thanks!

    hello,how to render this out with redshift?

    • @bubblepins
      @bubblepins  Před 3 lety

      It should work out of the box, because the Ocean displaces the actual geometry like a vertex animation. It would render out like any other geometry. You can throw on a transparent material on the Ocean floor and then remember to use lighting with high contrast.
      Hope that helps!

    • @kyozhan7172
      @kyozhan7172 Před 3 lety

      @@bubblepins so you never use the spectrum mask for rendering?there are spectrum and spectrum mask need to loaded in materail setup for rendering

    • @bubblepins
      @bubblepins  Před 3 lety

      @@kyozhan7172 If I remember correctly the spectrum mask is for things like making the ocean a little more calm like to negate the waves in the area where the mask is OR if you wanted to increase the ocean wave noise in the area where the mask is located. It's to manipulate the Ocean waves with more control.
      Hope that helps!

    • @bubblepins
      @bubblepins  Před 3 lety

      @@kyozhan7172 You don't really render the mask, but you render the Ocean grid. After you put down the Ocean Evaluate node, it displaces the grid geometry and you can render the grid geometry like any other regular geometry.
      Hope that helps!
