(BB King) He is IMO one of the finest players I've ever had the pleasure of watching and hearing. Nothing big time "showman," just down and dirty incredible playing, and he's clearly enjoying it. It's interesting to see them sharing a stage with so many Blues Greats. It's the only time I've ever seen EC look less than confident. SRV was always somewhat in awe of his mentors even when they tried to bring him out. It's clear he had massive respect for them. I truly miss him and wonder what could have been.

Only Clapton I don't care for is his weird long-haired late 80s Clapton. He has lots of good stuff aside from Cream. Derek and the Dominos if you like country blues, Blind Faith was really cool, his 70's solo career was awesome to me, and I like all the traditional blues work he's done the past couple decades. He is my God.
Oh I can tickle a guit fiddle like nobodies business. Clapton is an influence, I just prefer his Cream days. I've been really into a guitarist called Madjid Fahem. Rockin flamenco. You might like it.

He was good in CREAM. His output has been patchy at times but now and then he plays like no-one else on earth...just amazing. His personal struggles have helped him reach a modern audience, e.g. Layla, Tears in Heaven
