when this came out it blew everyone away. Rob brought sensuality and Santana brought the heat and the band brought the rhythm, what more could you ask for.
I love the music video they did with this song.
Perfect description!
Well said.
The music video release with Rob Thomas' wife dancing in front of Carlos is priceless!
Totally agree.......you can really feel the heat!
Was that Rob's wife, the woman in the grey shirt? Damn, she was scorching hot!
@@randallpetersen9164
The women in the grey top dancing face to face with Santana is Virginia Torres.
Rob Thomas's then fiancé ( Marisol) is in the video - she is wearing a white vest and a flowered skirt.
Thomas wife was the lady in the car. And later in the window in a tank and panties with the fan on
They played this song almost on repeat, and I never got tired of it.
Same here. Love the video.
I'm still not tired of it!
@@JoleneDaviesITKWJ Me either!
Between this and Intergalactic as a teen I did get bored lol. Love and appreciate it, more now.
I strongly recommend that you view the official music video of this song. Total FIRE
That video was great. Love love love it
Only Rob Thomas could sing this. Best collaboration I've ever heard in 65 years. My #1 favorite.
Rob Thomas is one of the best singers I have seen live.
Yes! Maybe it’s because you never hear anything bad about Rob or his band mates but, as a fan since 1996, I just don’t feel like they get the love they deserve lol. But live…AMAZING!!!
Agreed. Saw him in concert in July! He's amazing.
@@suehollar2578 I did too! In Bethlehem, PA and at Jiffy Lube Live in VA.
One of the best collaborations in rock history.
Written by Rob Thomas who was not originally meant to be the singer, this huge hit meant a big resurgence of popularity for Carlos (who actually said that Rob should be the vocalist!)
This song had such far-reaching impact. For Carlos and Rob, and for Latin music in general. I think it really brought Latino/Chicano into the pop spectrum. There's a whole new genre of music that enjoys pop success now because of Carlos, and this song. Rob brought his pop/rock style into it (such a distinctive voice, you should do some MB20 if you haven't listened. That first album is a classic) and Carlos brought Carlos 😂 I don't think anybody expected what it blew up into, you'll never forget this song as long as you live. It's just that good.
Santana brought Latin music squarely into the pop spectrum in the early 70s....
true but, Santana has long been a huge star in rock. Since the late 60s.
I think French music is Latin music to becouse the language came from Latin.
I really appreciated your pre performance comments and your reading some of this songs credits and awards. But you fell into the same trap that ALL the other first time listeners fall into. You find it necessary to disrespect both ROB AND CARLOS by commenting during your playing the song. While I agree with your appreciation and everything you said you should have waited till it was over. I would have appreciated your response more.
Weird that this guy has never listened to any music in his life. Or maybe these reaction channels lie to their fans for cash.
If this song doesn’t get you up dancing then you’re probably not alive, it’s a jam
Carlos Santana is a great guitarist ❤
This song is such an amazing combination of musical genres and screams perfection!!
A GREAT JAM!!
The Official Music Video is worth checking out ❤
Agreed
Love this song! The album was huge with special guests featured in each song. Carlos Santana is a GOAT rock guitar GOD dating all the way back to the 1960s. Rob Thomas is also an amazing song writer & had several solo hits that would be great for you to react to.
Grammies 1999. Everyone thought the Backstreet Boys had it in the bag with I Want It That Way, and their Millenium album. And it WAS good, but along came this song and that album and blew them out of the water, lol!!!
Love the song and performance. Love Rob Thomas's voice
Just saw Carlos Santana in concert last week, he's still got it! This song was the closer and he sounded amazing.
You saw him, that’s so cool! Was it in the Bay Area?
@@kathybwell He did a few nights in Vegas
I saw Santana a few years ago in Oklahoma, and I was stunned by the pure love and goodwill from Carlos Santana. He's a very spiritual person and isn't afraid to show it.
Thats so true of Carlos!!
I truly didn't think it was possible to love this song more than I already did.
It's soooooooo sensual! Moves every fiber of my being.
But THIS version- WOW. The vibe in that crowd is 🔥! I would have given almost ANYTHING to see thar performance live! 🤩🤩🤩
We were at a concert just last weekend....there's nothing I enjoy more than being part of a huge crowd of happy people drawn together by music!
I love that Santana stays current by inviting other musicians to contribute in a meaningful way.
Carlos brings an energy like no other.
Santana did a whole album collaboration of a bunch of 90s bands and singers from rock to hip hop worth hearing!!! ❤😊
Rob Thomas said he and Carlos bonded over them both being involved with Hispanic women. The line about 'changing your life to suit her mood'? Thomas mentioned that as the linchpin of the song as far as he and Carlos were concerned. The whole album just bangs.
This song was in every club every weekend, in every car on every trip, and on almost every radio station every day. And right now, it holds a pretty high spot on my 90s playlist. I could never get burned out on this song. Never heard or saw it live, though, that was incredible!
I could be wrong, but I believe the beginning of the song is intended for Rob to be a bit more subdued.
THAT WAS F🙀CKING AMAZING!!!
I've only seen the the official video and I thought That was awesome. But this was off the charts. ❤
Part of me was baffled that you hadn’t heard this before. It was such a jam growing up. Even 24 years later, I still remember the words. And theres a reason they say Santana is one of the best
Oh man, never seen this live version...but this album and this song in particular DEFINED my summers in 99 and 00
I remember clearly watching them perform this at the Grammys. I’d liked the other performances… boy bands and the like if I recall… lots of choreography with singing on the side if you know what I mean. Then Smooth happened and I found myself thinking I hope everyone else in the building is taking notes 😂
His album Supernatural is sublime. From various Latin beats, pop, rock, hip hop, he went all out, and it paid off.
This song is a jam. 🎉
SANTANA for the first time?? WOW!! I have seen them live several times over the year and they WOW each and every time! Carlos is king on that guitar!!
Rob Thomas was performing with the greatest guitarist and his band, and it was damn well intimidating. The reaction that Santana band received that Rob Thomas’s voice reflected his intimidation about working with a legend. But once he got comfortable and vibe off of the audience, he forgot to be intimidated and just enjoyed the ride.
Rob Thomas has no problem being comfortable on stage. :D This is a perfect song!
I love this song. You can't sit still when this song is on!
Wow! Time flies!!! I can’t believe how old this song is! 😳😳😳. Its a great song and collaboration. I’ve never seen this performance of it. It’s awesome!!!! Anyway if you get a chance, check out the original video! Very very cool!!!!
This win a Grammy for song of the year.
Santana and Rob along with American Authors teamed up again in 2021 with the song “Move” which is also excellent
I was late to the Santana party but I love him now. This song is just terrific. I had a ticket to see Santana at the O2 in London, spring 2020. So looking forward to it, March 27 was the date. Then you know-what-happened and he's never been back since.
Carlos! It's okay now! Come back!
May I suggest 'La Flaca', a collaboration with Colombian singer Juanes; and 'Put Your Lights On', with American singer Everlast.
Do you know how old Carlos Santana is. Yes,he was making hits in the 60's! He was,and is, and always a Rock God! ❤❤❤❤
Yeah. Music with high spirits. Great collaboration.Such a jam session.
Omg I went crazy about this song. This was in 1999. I was at a New Year’s Eve party. Loved it ever since. ❤
I ABSOFUKNLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG!!!! TIMELESS!!!!
Have seen Santana live over a dozen times and always leave with such a great feeling. Always an extremely diverse crowd with everyone enjoying some great music and each others fellowship. You can see what I mean when you look at this awesome performance. Beautiful stage packed with talent. Rob Thomas brings some energy that is hard to match. RIP to long time band member and bongos player Raul Rekow!
OMG, I am SO glad you did this version. This is one of my favorite songs of all time, and this is absolutely my favorite performance of it. THANK YOU~~~Check out those red leather pants!!!! OOOO this was a HOT performance. Gets me EVERY time. I love the obvious adoration in Rob's eyes. You can tell he was blown away that he was having this awesome performance and crown with the great Carols Santana
I've not seen this performance! AWESOME!!!💜💖💜
Brilliant, Top knotch..Santana just timeless.
I'm hearing this song performed live here for the first time and it's awesome! I have this song on my ipod and love it everytime it comes on my shuffle selection. The horns backing Rob and Carlos up are so tight. I'm dancing in my seat!
Have loved Santana since the 70's. Evil ways. Love Rob Thomas. Such a wonderful song. Thank you for playing this! Great✌️
Carlos Santana is an absolute god!
The song is truly a vibrant one. Stuck in my head. Awesome bass lines. Timeless.
Santana- one of the best !
I grew up on Carlos Santana & when this was released it blew my mind.
I have always loved Carlos Santana, saw him in concert around 1972, the best concert I've ever been to. I had never seen this performance, it was awesome! Thank you!
Any Santana is good Santana and great music.
Santana is the best guitarist in the world. I was privileged to see him introduced by Bill Graham at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco during the 60s.
This was my first time to see the live performance! I loved this song, and initially worried that the live performance was not going to be worthy of the amazing studio version. Man, it did not take too long for those fears to fade, and like you said, it just got better as it went along. Man, this is one of those concerts that is on my "I want a time machine" list. Great reaction to an amazing show.
This is my favorite song of the entire decade
Santana, one of the best concerts I have ever been to ❤
Rob Thomas, awesome performer and love his voice, would love to see MB20 live ❤
They just finished their US tour and are getting ready to head to Australia and NZ but if you ever have the chance you will not be disappointed! He is incredible live and so interactive with the crowd!
@@dawnandrews-becker6600 would love to but they never came to Portugal 😞
this has always been a favorite song of mine. The video is so rockin with Thomas' wife in it playing his unrequited love. Both the song and the video shot out of this world when they came out. And I think it was the #1 song of 2000 (or maybe 1999).
This was a great video. I agree that Rob Thomas seemed a little stiff at first but, once he warmed up it was a celebration for all.
This was the first time I found out that Carlos didn't write his own music. Rob is a freaking fantastic writer. Rob has been my favorite since 1996.
This is a top 5 song for me, any decade, any genre. Carlos Santana, Ron Thomas, what’s not to love?! Thanks so much for reacting to it!
This whole album (Supernatural) is full of Santana collabs with different vocalists... deserves a deep-dive.
I absolutely have all ways loved Santana!! Just can't help but move when he starts to playing! One of the greatest guitarists in my opinion! The Supernatural album has a lot of great songs! I love the song Maria! Maria! also, but this song is one of my all time favorites!
Never ever ever ever gets old.
Man I have loved this song forever...
Loved to dance to it!
Absolutely took my breath away , I wish I could have been there !
Loved this collab! Thanks for the reaction.
I saw this tour in Pittsburgh, and yes Carlos always puts on a show. He makes the guitar sing.
I almost wrecked the car the first time I heard this on the radio. I KNEW it was going to be huge. Every cut on the Supernatural album is a real banger. Next up, listen to Maria.
Rob Thomas was in an absolute writing zone over three 3 5-year time. He got songwriter of the year during that time more than once and there's a lot of hits that most people have no clue he wrote. ❤
Carlos Santana…BRILLIANT!!!
Thanks for bringing this to me, I never saw this performance and now I want to see it again! Usually, it's us bringing new music to you, but I appreciate when you show me something new. My thanks again!!!
Santana effin hell one of the best guitarists on this earth ..
I had this album on repeat when it came out 🔥
I still listen to it quite a bit
This whole album is just one piece of fire after another. No filler.
@SalvoG, 👍👍A 70 yo Englishman Londoner, fan of Santana since 1970. I have had the privilege and pleasure to have seen Carlos and the various incarnations of his AMAZING band of musicians at least 36 times, before I started to lose count. My view is that the band is not just about Carlos, it is about the collective, it's just he has such a distinctive sound within the whole. The one track, as you allude to, has everything that made me a fan: superb musicianship, ditto vocals and energy, like a Rolls Royce: the 'engine' knows what to do and runs like a well-oiled vibrant machine. Enjoyed your review! The piece at the end is called 'Dame Tu Amor', LOVE IT!
WOW! He must have been THRILLED to get to sing with Santana! They are a legend. I hope you'll do more Santana songs.
A masterpiece collaboration! Carlos Santana is legendary!
My God I can so remember just dancing like crazy to this song! It was so good and still is❤
LOVE this song .. great album..
Best song of the 21st century. Hands down❤
A very good rendition!
WooooooooooooooWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW !!
I just about wore this album out I played it so much... In summer of 1969 I went to the Fillmore West to see the WHO. The opening band was some group we'd never heard of called Santana.
You must watch & react to Carlos with George Benson doing “ BREEZIN’ “ it’s unreal watching those two together. Two of my all time favorite guitarists.
I love this song so much! May I suggest another great live collaboration I think you'll like? Melissa Etheridge and Joss Stone doing Piece of My Heart for a Janis Joplin tribute at the 2005 Grammy Awards.
Wow, I remember that performance from the show. It blew me away. Going to look for it to watch now. 👍
How about the real thing? Janis herself. Monterey Pop doing Ball and Chain. Among other great blues songs.
Joss Stone did the best Joplin after Janis herself
such a great version of a superb tune. Santana is so Smooth. Please check out "Samba Pa-Ti"
Carlos Santana is 76 years old.
I was fortunate to be able to see the Supernatural tour in 2000. It was so wonderful!
Carlos Santana - everything he does is amazing.
That was an awesome program in full ! So many musicians! On this show, Dave Matthews does a song with Santana, Love of my Life!
Great song! Santana did great collaboration with vocalist in early 2000's. Great one to check out is Game of Love with Michelle Branch. Big hit with big Santana sound!
There is NO substitute for talent.
The song is intended to start “slow” and let the heat build. You should watch the video to get perspective.
Love Santana
This song is multi cultural Fiesta!!
A great song to make you get up and move!
Rob did what Rob does...draws you in slowly and gets intense by the end. That was perfect. Love both Rob and Santana. Rob was in the band called Matchbox 20. You should check it out!
I was a server/ bartender when this came on our muzak we would all dance and sing around the restaurant as we did our jobs customers would join in. Damn loved that job love this song, video is awesome
I watched the concert & it was freaking awesome.
For a new twist, even though it's a classic song, check out Sweet Jane from Lou Reed... Rock and Roll Animal.
Such an amazing song, and performance! According to rock legend, when Carlos approached Rob regarding this song, it was so instinctively organic as it was about the woman Rob was married to who was the very epitome of the song.
