    Your presets included in pp2 are really good for just learning cool tricks. I only recently picked up khs ultimate pack and was struggling a little bit getting a nice bass sound being so new to the synth, but thanks to looking at your presets i already understand the synth a load better. so, thanks for that, and as you say, thanks to kilohearts for including a load of presets from knowledgeable creators such as yourself.

    • @Overxpossed
      @Overxpossed Před 2 lety

      As Not Sure said, there is just a tinny difference between both; PP has infinite filters, but, if you're familiarised with Vital, PP is just a matter of seconds to get it. But to Das Glithc Level... well... that's the hard part.

  • @roccsterx

  • @isaimexico
    @isaimexico Před 2 lety

    Hey dash I think u are the only guy in the planet who don't print the bass into a wav. I mean it's more easier control duration and more important consistancy by usin the wave over the bass line instead of dealing with phase change due oscilators

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Před 2 lety +3

      If you know how to make a good preset then you don’t need to, the biggest reason people
      Sampled was not phase but for envelope overlaps and this fixes it 👍

  • @platipo
    @platipo Před 2 lety

    You could do a similar thing in Zebra2; as it allowed envelopes to be tempo scaled, but for some reason Zebra never caught up in the psytrance/edm world, except for very few producers.

    • @BappinProductions
      @BappinProductions Před 2 lety

      Expensive with few sales and although the workflow is great once it clicks, it lacks the immediacy, visual feedback etc that catapulted synths like Serum up into the stratosphere. The FM is really limited and the overall sound while excellent, isn’t up front and brash like Massive, FM8, Serum can be. It’s a great synth, very flexible with a wide range but it’s not at all surprising that it failed to make waves in the dance scene.

    • @platipo
      @platipo Před 2 lety

      @@BappinProductions well, I have to say it's imho part to an age thing; when it came out no synth gave the visual feedback we see today in say, Serum, Vital or Phase plant. Yes, the FM is quite limited, as you can only use a bunch of static waves as carriers, but on the other hand it allows several different approaches to it, and can definitely give interesting results, especially when combined with a clever use of its modular architecture.
      The other reason it probably never had the same success as other instruments is that yes, it's "complicated" and most producers seem to favour simple and straightforward instruments, looking for example at other synths from the same era, Sylenth1, though well... Incomparably less powerful than Zebra keeps being a favourite for many.
      Anyway, the point was about tempo scaling envelopes, not Zebra, I don't know of many other synths which offered this feature (well, Albino comes to mind, but it's more than a bit updated I think), and well, about the fact that even though the technique explained here is surely brilliant, it isn't really anything entirely new or such a gamechanger

  • @Projektor_music
    @Projektor_music Před 2 lety +2

    Hey so while rewatching this I don't quite understand why in serum or vital you need 2 envelopes and here just 1 curve. I always need 2 envelopes/curves, 1 for amp and 1 for filter.

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Před 2 lety +1

    This is the same thing as one cycle LFO... the only benefit of the curve is that you can make longer and more complex envelope... am I mistaking?

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, but then you have the Envelope and LFO doing 1 task.

    • @z-rslv
      @z-rslv Před 2 lety +1

      Not sure I totally agree. A dedicated amp env cab still be useful for controlling the transient (a few ms ramp up to get rid of the click, that arguably should not scale with the bpm).

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Před 2 lety +1

      The curve is still a dedicated amp envelope, and you can potentially set it to not scale, or have 2 - 1 that is locked to 1/16th for body and tail, another for transient.
