  • On June 26th, young Irish MMA prospect Ian 'The Future' Garry fought for the Cage Warriors Welterweight World Championship. Undefeated, he would take on Jack Grant putting his 6-0 record on the line for a shot at the gold belt, and to catch the eye of the UFC.
This is the story of what it took to get to the fight.

If you’re here now, count yourself privileged to be one of the early ones to the act cos this is just the start and in 5 years time there’ll be millions watching videos about this man. I remember watching the documentary series on RTE years ago about McGregor before he ever became a household name. That then was the start of something unbelievably great that few anticipated was possible. With Ian Garry, we could be in for another crazy ride to global super stardom which will put the fighting Irish front and centre stage yet again!! Let’s fucking go!☘️☘️

Crazy how high level Ian is considering he’s only been training for 4 years. Jack Grant is an absolutely top tier grappler, he’s subbed numerous elite Cage Warriors alumni.
Ian dominated every grappling exchange and didn’t even get touched on the feet until that knee in the 5th round. I think his wealth of amateur boxing experience gave him quite an edge when he transitioned into MMA , his understanding of lateral footwork and use of the jab is absolutely brilliant, Grant couldn’t even get near him.
I can absolutely see him beating ufc caliber opponents right now, and he’s only 23, wait until he hits his prime years 28-32, he’ll be unstoppable🇮🇪🇮🇪

That is most emotion this born and bred Dubliner has felt in years. When they put the strap around his waist and Futureman started choking up.. I'll be honest I nearly shed a tear too. Super super video. Well done to everyone who put this masterpiece together.
Seems they are trying to stop Ian Garry's rise and I can understand why. If you can't beat the Dubliner in the ring then hobble his horse.
Only Bruce and Joe R. realised what was happening and gave it top tier.
The Americans must have taken the hiding Conor gave them worse than first thought and know they are in for the same from Ian Garry so they are trying to trip him up. Might also explain his gym betraying him Juda$ $tyle.
Garry already has 'Bushingered' his first U.S. victim in the 1st round.

Seems like a genuinely nice guy, and from what I've seen so far, including his UFC debut, he's a real talent in the welterweight division. I saw an interview where he said he wants to build his resume, and not go for the gold too quickly, which shows he is self-aware enough to realise he needs to improve before he's ready to take the likes of Kamaru Usman on. He's only 24 years old, with a really bright future ahead of him, barring injury. I hope he goes on to do really well, and take the UFC Welterweight gold at some point.
