as someone from the US, it seems like they call overreach on attack a lot, is that normal for Canadian vollyball?

I wouldn't say so. Just a coincidence for this game and a product of both teams trying to get high ball sets close to the net.

does anyone else watch Canadian college volleyball, then watch American college volleyball, and wonder why canada doesn't destroy the US in international play? Canada's youth system just seems to be better.

It’s not though. The top teams are always comparable on the mens side. There’s more depth though with youth and college teams in the states. When you have a population that’s 10x the size you’re going to have a lot more talent to choose from.

5 years ago trinity western was definitely the best team In North America. Now, I don’t think any Canadian team is beating the best ncaa teams. I also think the USA national team plays better together than Canada but for our population Canada is quite strong

@@davidfernandes8094Yeah, the USA men’s team appears more cohesive. I wonder if they are able to play them more, arrange practices together more or what that is about. I’d imagine the players on USA and Canada all play most of their volleyball on their pro teams?
Canada’s youth development is pretty good, all things considered. Another part of the USA’s higher population and the relative closeness of their big cities is that it’s easier to access tournaments against competitive teams.
If you are a team in Saskatchewan, you could travel to Edmonton/calgary, Winnipeg. But that’s not much. In the USA, west coast and east coast teams can access way more tournaments and more competition, due to more population, etc.

@@davidfernandes8094this may be a reason for southern Ontario, souther QC and parts of BC having traditionally strong teams, more access to competition, both within their near vicinity (1 hour drive) and like a 5-6 hour drive.

@@davidfernandes8094I think it depends on the year honestly. US college ball is definitely getting better though. Lots of times it also depends which ball they’re playing with. When Canadian teams go down to the States around Christmas to play they usually don’t do as well with the Molten. When American teams come up to play in Canada the Canadian teams typically do better with the Mikasa.
