Man, anytime someone spouts our defensive numbers under Barry, it’s absolutely insane we kept him for 3 seasons! Just insane! Cannot wait to see what Hafley does with our very talented defense! Looking forward to seeing Gutes moves this offseason as well!
I would love if Barry went to the Bears as a DC so Halfey can show him how to run a defense properly based off their strengths and weaknesses rather than admitting to being stubborn and not wanting to change.
Some of the most successful defenses in the league historically, have had a 4-man rush and rarely needed to blitz. If we can get pressure with just 4 and occasionally 5 for different looks it’ll be hard to overlook us. Kenny Clark and Rashan Gary can lead up front and Preston Smith and Lucas Van Ness are looking more promising. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛
The best defenses do get pressure sending 4 consistently but they do it in different ways. The Pack have larger DE playing OLB so it was pretty obvious when they lined up in a 3-4 they were sending 5. They pretty much ran a 5-2 defense. With Hafley they will probably keep the the 3-4 NT and Ends with a single OLB, and swap the other OLB for a 4-3 OLB.
DBs whom Hafley has coached have said that he stresses working on the skills of turning to see the ball, adjusting to the ball, and expecting the DBs to work on and improve on their ball skills. I can't wait to see it.
As I see it, they have been drafting CBs (and S) that are better suited to man coverages, given their "measurables." Part of why they have grades skewed lower may be due to the previous DC calling fewer man coverages, calling more zone, and undoubtedly working on zone in practice more than man. Given more reps, and a guy in Alexander who excels at man coverage learn from, I think they will improve measurably. Go Pack Go!
At this time its all speculation... we'll know after about 6 games next year, if we are in the bottom half of the NFL in D - then it's the same old results. If we are top half or top 10 then I think that is what we are looking for.
This is the major flaw of Joe Barry's defense, while it was 10th in scoring and was really good at not allowing explosive plays. Joe Barry's defense also allowed 8 minute drives and they would keep the offense off the field, that was the worst part of it.
The front will not be fundamentally different under Hafley. The players will utilize different technique and different variations of the same Dline scheme. The backend scheme will be significantly different both in scheme and in personnel. the linebackers will also play different under Hafley. there's a good chance the Pack add another linebacker in the draft which will allow them to flex different blitzing schemes. Hafley will mix in more press coverage, but he's not going to limit the defense to only man coverage. The biggest difference will come from the play calling.
Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
After hiring Jeff Harley I hope the don’t draft Kalen King because he is good at zone but when it comes to man coverage he is not great. Kalen King is not bad but man coverage is not his thing.
There isn’t a defense in the NFL that only runs man coverage. Most teams that use a larger chunk of their play as man coverage aren’t that good. Every team in the NFL runs more zone coverage than man coverage. College football is a different animal. Many schools offer programs that allow redshirt freshman to learn to play professional football at different levels. You almost have to be good at playing man coverage to play good zone coverage, but just because you can play good man coverage doesn't necessarily mean you can play good zone. Every year there are a bunch of corners that play good man coverage in college, and they are drafted in the early rounds, but they aren't that good in the NFL bc they can't play zone very well. Many teams use press coverage in both man and zone along with disguising coverage. That said, Hafley will still run a lot of zone coverage but utilize more man coverage than this past season.
Depends because thats where we saw success against teams like vikings/49ers and chiefs, the reason we saw was matt forcing barry to be more aggressive near the end of the season
@laserhawk221 We dont base it off of 1 game and like u said the rain, but mix in some zone it works fantastic, look what happened when Jaire manned up against Jefferson for example against the pass heavy vikings lol, again soft man doesnt work very well how packers did it, but to flat out say it doesnt work at high level is also lie, worked well against the chiefs lol combo some zone sometimes yah it works, but hell itll work a lot better than what we currently are doing
So this might sound weird and I get you probably are working a lot on your channel but maybe throw some makeup on your eye bags. You look tired. Cut out sugar if you can or get some more sleep? Easier said than done but I do think your channel is awesome!

So true
It’s like what Bruce Lee said “ Be water “

Preston Smith is washed. He's arguably not worth his contract.
In Gutz I trust! He will address the defensive backfield via free agency/draft. GO PACK!!
It would help if our defensive players could actually catch …lol….
Yes please that too.
That's why they're playing D. They'd be a receiver if they could catch.

Seems Coach Hafley has had success in the past, hopefully his efforts will culminate in a great defense for the PACK!!
Go Pack Go!!!!!!!!!!🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
ESPN would do well with this depth of analysis, good job Luke.

Good analysis Luke
I appreciate it

They need to sign 3 of those guys , or all of them.

Safety is a quirky position. They are guys who couldn’t play corner

Hafley is more of a press man type of coach tho. So why would you want a zone guy?
@@yngaustin I said I did not want him

Rather have dejean
Stokes?
Right 👍
Man coverage is bad against good teams though
Depends because thats where we saw success against teams like vikings/49ers and chiefs, the reason we saw was matt forcing barry to be more aggressive near the end of the season
If there are some mismatches at WR, definitely
@SidelineScoop Then again late in the year we saw a lot more man and aggressive play style and it pays off, much better than the soft zone we play
@@xXMc1ovinXx zone was what caused Purdy to be bad against the 49ers and also the rain. Playing man against teams with many weapons isn’t smart

There’s only 64 starting corners in the nfl. So being in the 30’s or 40’s is not good….if you have championship aspirations.
37-21-23 no 25 just punt return kick return
