      @@HumblebeeAndMe Hi Marie! So, it's been a month, and this emulsified body butter has been still super amazing, however, about a week ago, our weather finally turned (I live in California), and as it's been a lot colder in the house, the body butter has pretty much solidified. It still obviously works great, but it's hard to apply, because, well, it's hard. Any suggestions on how to get it back to it's fluffy creamy goodness? I don't want to mess it up by throwing it in the microwave.

    I made it today and OMG I am in love. It's so moisturizing, nourishing but absorbs pretty quickly. I didn't have a super fragrance cocoa butter so I added cocoa, coconut, and honey FO and it smells divine. I also added 0.4 Xanthan Gum. I will be definitely making more of this butter and play with different oils and butter. I was thinking of adding 3-5% Urea to boost the deep moisturizing properties of this butter. Thank you for inspiring us!

    Lovely formula Marie, I just made it, and the scent is divine, more cocoa scent than coconut. It's not greasy and suits my dry skin. I did tweak it a bit with some Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer @ 2.5% as I like the feel it gives. I really like Glyceryl Stearate (and) PEG-100 Stearate and have used it on very light emulsions, however I was curious about your formula and it wowed me. 😉 Thank you for sharing your wonderful formulas!

    Ya know, I'm usually not into body butters, with the exception of mango-butter-heavy stuff. Regular ones are too greasy, and emulsified ones are just thick lotion (that's how they seem to me personally anyway). This, though? This is perfect. It's not too greasy and it's 25% real butter! I made mine with non-virgin coconut oil and 5% coffee carrier oil to get a mocha fragrance instead of cocoa coconut, but otherwise I stuck to the original. It's seriously perfect. It's like... You know how whipped cream tastes rich but feels light, and you can put an embarrassing amount on your dessert without it feeling like too much rich food while you're eating it? Yeah, it's like that. It feels rich but not heavy on the skin.

I don't have any safety concerns about PEGs; they aren't natural, but natural-ness is not an indicator of safety :) Like many things we use regularly, PEGs have the potential to be harmful (like milk before it's been pasteurized or water before it's been treated), but the risks are well known and extremely carefully controlled. It doesn't have every country in the world, but it does contain all the online stores I know about. If your country isn't listed, that's because I don't know about any online stores in your country. • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  Před 3 lety +1

      @@twinkle8347 Hmm. So, glyceryl stearate is glyceryl stearate (or monostearate). BUT that is not what is used in this formulation-this formulation uses Glyceryl Stearate (and) PEG-100 Stearate, and that AND is really important. Think of it a bit like the difference between NaCl (sodium chloride aka salt) and just Cl (chlorine). You wouldn't try to use chlorine instead of salt, and you cannot use glyceryl stearate instead of Glyceryl Stearate (and) PEG-100 Stearate, even though half of that ingredient (roughly) is glyceryl stearate.
